Three BRB specimens are cyclically loaded in the investigation. Specimen 1 adopts a Q235 core member and transverse rib restraints. Specimen 2 adopts a LYP160 low yield point steel core member and transverse rib restraints. Specimen 3 adopts a LYP160 low yield point steel core member and mortar restraint. The experimental results indicate that the transverse rib restraining mode can provide sufficient lateral stiffness for the core member and effectively restrain its buckling. The BRB specimens with a LYP160 core member exhibit better hysteretic performance and energy dissipation capacity than the specimens with a Q235 core member.展开更多

Two types of mainly used tube bundles, the planar elastic tube bundle and the conical spiral tube bundle were comprehensively compared in the condition of the same shell side diameter. The natural mode characteristics, the effect of fluid-structure interaction, the stress distribution, the comprehensive heat transfer performance and the secondary fluid flow of the two elastic tube bundles were all concluded and compared. The results show that the natural frequency and the critical velocity of vibration buckling of the planar elastic tube bundle are larger than those of the conical spiral tube bundle, while the stress distribution and the comprehensive heat transfer performance of the conical spiral tube bundle are relatively better.展开更多

Considering the force-time curves and constant impact velocity, the fracture energies for different zones were quantified. A fracture energy improvement for the HAZ(33.6 J) was observed in comparison with the weld metal(7.88 J), and base metal(5.37 J and 7.37 J for longitudinal and transverse directions, respectively). This toughness increment was attributed to the microstructural transformation caused by the thermodynamic instability of η′ precipitates during the welding. Fracture energy for weld metal was higher than that for base metal, probably due to pores created during solidification. Regarding the dynamic yielding force obtained from the force-time curves, an approximation to the dynamic yield strength for weld, HAZ and base metal was determined. Fracture surfaces revealed an intergranular failure for base metal in longitudinal direction, whereas a predominately brittle failure(cleavage) with some insights of ductile characteristics was observed for the transverse direction. In contrast, a ductile failure was observed for weld metal and HAZ.展开更多
