用EyeLinkII型眼动仪为实验设备 ,以汉字与双眼形成的视角为自变量 ,研究了视角对高频汉字识别的影响特点。本实验中的视角分为 7个水平 :2°、4°、7°、1 0°、1 3°、1 6°、1 9° ,通过自编程序 ,计算... 用EyeLinkII型眼动仪为实验设备 ,以汉字与双眼形成的视角为自变量 ,研究了视角对高频汉字识别的影响特点。本实验中的视角分为 7个水平 :2°、4°、7°、1 0°、1 3°、1 6°、1 9° ,通过自编程序 ,计算出固定距离条件中不同视角下汉字的大小 ,呈现在计算机屏幕上 ,要求被试发声识别汉字。通过对反应时、注视时间、注视次数、眼跳时间、眼跳次数、眨眼时间、眨眼次数的分析。结果发现 :不同视角条件下的反应时总体差异不显著 ,反应时随视角的变化曲线为抛物线 ,开口向上 ;汉字识别的最适宜视角为 1 0°~ 1 1°。 展开更多

If there is a singular point with maximum intensity in an image, the method use shading information of the singular point and its neighbors to estimate directly the elevation of illuminant direction, surface albedo, and the bias brightness. Body-scanning exploiting 3-D imaging has revolutionised diagnostics and treatment in medicine. Process engineers would like to be similarly able to image chemical process units in 3-D, but without the Lmulti-million price tag. UMIST and Leeds University have together, through the Virtual Centre for Industrial Process Tomography (http://www.vcipt.org), pioneered several electrical process tomography techniques and used them in a variety of applications. Illustrations are presented to show how electrical resistance tomography (ERT) has been developed for typical stirred vessels widely encountered in batch process manufacturing. The technique is potentially fast and inexpensive and capable of imaging both dynamic and pseudo-stationary processes. Examples from UMIST's two-tonne vessel will be presented for miscible tracer mixing, as well as gas-liquid and solid-liquid mixing. 展开更多

Five varieties of Jinyou402, Shanyou10, Zhongyou207, Jiayou and IIyou were evaluated. The images of both sides of rice seed with black background and white background were acquired with the image processing system for identifying external features of rice seeds. Five image sets consisting of 600 original images each were obtained. Then a digital image processing algorithm based on Hough transform was developed to inspect the rice seeds with incompletely closed glumes. The algorithm was implemented with all image sets using a Matlab 6.5 procedure. The results showed that the algorithm achieved an average accuracy of 96% for normal seeds, 92% for seeds with fine fissure and 87% for seeds with incompletely closed glumes. The algorithm was proved to be applicable to different seed varieties and insensitive to the color of the background. 展开更多

The existing H.264/AVC rate control schemes rarely include the perceptual considerations.As a result,the im-provements in visual quality are hardly comparable to those in peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR).In this paper,we propose a perceptual importance analysis scheme to accurately abstract the spatial and temporal perceptual characteristics of video contents.Then we perform bit allocation at macroblock(MB)level by adopting a perceptual mode decision scheme,which adaptively updates the Lagrangian multiplier for mode decision according to the perceptual importance of each MB.Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can efficiently reduce bit rates without visual quality degradation. 展开更多

In comparison with sequentially coded spoken language and written texts, we are capable of consuming graphical information at a high bandwidth in a parallel fashion, producing a picture worth more than a thousand words. Effective information visualization can be a powerful tool to capture people's attention and quickly communicate large amounts of data and complex information. This is particularly important in the context of communication data, which often describes entities (people, organizations) and their connections through communication. Visual analytics approaches can optimize the user-computer interaction to gain insights into communication networks and learn about their structures. Network visualization is a perfect instrument to better communicate the results of analysis. The precondition for effective information visualization and successful visual reasoning is the capability to draw "good" pictures. Even though communication networks are often large, including thousands or even millions of people, underlying visualization principles are identical to those used for visualizing smaller networks. The impressionistic device works very much in the same way that an advertisement would do. It is meant to persuade the audience. The apparently non-commitant vision of reality shows in fact the author's point of view. The al- gorithm separates the weed area from soil background according to the color eigenvalue, which is obtained by analyzing the color difference between the weeds and background in three color spaces RGB, rgb and HSI. The results of the experiment show that it can get notable effect in segmentation according to the color feature, and the possibility of successful segmentation is 87%-93%. This method can also be widely used in other fields which are complicated in the background of the image and facilely influenced in illumination, such as weed identification, tree species discrimination, fruit picking and so on. 展开更多

Extraction of traffic information from image or video sequence is a hot research topic in intelligenttransportation system and computer vision. A real-time traffic information extraction method based on com-pressed video with interframe motion vectors for speed, density and flow detection, has been proposed for ex-traction of traffic information under fixed camera setting and well-defined environment. The motion vectors arefirst separated from the compressed video streams, and then filtered to eliminate incorrect and noisy vectors u-sing the well-defined environmental knowledge. By applying the projective transform and using the filtered mo-tion vectors, speed can be calculated from motion vector statistics, density can be estimated using the motionvector occupancy, and flow can be detected using the combination of speed and density. The embodiment of aprototype system for sky camera traffic monitoring using the MPEG video has been implemented, and experi-mental results proved the effectiveness of the method proposed. 展开更多

Image forensics is a form of image analysis for finding out the condition of an image in the complete absence of any digital watermark or signature.It can be used to authenticate digital images and identify their sources.While the technology of exemplar-based inpainting provides an approach to remove objects from an image and play visual tricks.In this paper, as a first attempt, a method based on zero-connectivity feature and fuzzy membership is proposed to discriminate natural images from inpainted images.Firstly, zero-connectivity labeling is applied on block pairs to yield matching degree feature of all blocks in the region of suspicious, then the fuzzy memberships are computed and the tampered regions are identified by a cut set.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method in detecting inpainted images. 展开更多

In this essay I will explicate the gaze (le regard) and the ways in which it exceeds or transcends what we know as vision, the objectifying or representational power of the eyes. Building critically on Sartre, the gaze in Lacan and Merleau-Ponty is part of the technical apparatus used to describe the foundation, production, and reproduction of the subject. I will begin by discussing the role of visual perception in subject-formation in their respective work, differentiating between the Merleau-Pontian notion of the "gaze of the world," i.e., the ways in which things cast their gaze upon us, and the Lacanian gaze as a manifestation of the scopic drive. Through an analysis of anamorphosis I will show (1) how the gaze evades the spectator, (2) what the relationship of the gaze is to the object petit a as the object of the scopic drive, and (3) how both Merleau-Ponty and Lacan require a movement that precedes and destabilizes the subject of intentional consciousness. 展开更多
