The components of ES die were manufactured and installed to gleeble1500D thermo-mechanical simulator. Microstructure observations were carried out in different positions of ES formed rods. The results show that homogeneous microstructures with mean grain size of 2 μm are obtained at lower temperature as the accumulated true strain is 2.44. Occurring of continuous dynamic recrystallization (DRX) is the main reason for grain refinement during ES process. The experimental results show that the ES process effectively refines the grains of AZ31 magnesium. The production results of ES extrusion with industrial extruder under different extrusion conditions show that the ES extrusion can be applied in large-scale industry.展开更多

The structural parameters of an ES die were optimized by conducting an orthogonal simulation experiment using finite element software Deform-3D, and Mg-3 Zn-0.6 Ca-0.6 Zr(ZXK310) alloy was processed using the ES die. The results show that the optimized structural parameters of ES die are extrusion angle(α) of 90°, extrusion section height(h) of 15 mm and inner fillet radius(r) of 10 mm. After ES at an extrusion temperature and a die temperature of 350 °C, ZXK310 alloy exhibited good ES forming ability, and obvious dynamic recrystallization occurred in the forming area. The grain size decreased from 1.42 μm of extrusion area to 0.85 μm of the forming area. Owing to the pinning of second phase and formation of ultrafine grains, the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of alloy reached 362 MPa, 289 MPa and 21.7%, respectively.展开更多
A new severe plastic deformation method for manufacturing tubes made of AZ31 magnesium alloy with a large diameter was developed,which is called the TCESE(tube continuous extrusion−shear−expanding)process.The process ...A new severe plastic deformation method for manufacturing tubes made of AZ31 magnesium alloy with a large diameter was developed,which is called the TCESE(tube continuous extrusion−shear−expanding)process.The process combines direct extrusion with a two-step shear−expanding process.The influences of expanding ratios,extrusion temperatures on the deformation of finite element meshes,strain evolution and flow velocity of tube blanks during the TCESE process were researched based on numerical simulations by using DEFORM-3D software.Simulation results show that the maximum expanding ratio is 3.0 in the TCESE process.The deformation of finite element meshes of tube blanks is inhomogeneous in the shear−expanding zone,and the equivalent strains increase significantly during the TCESE process of the AZ31 magnesium alloy.A extrusion temperature of 380°C and expanding ratio of 2.0 were selected as the optimized process parameters from the numerical simulation results.The average grain size of tubes fabricated by the TCESE process is approximately 10μm.The TCESE process can refine grains of magnesium alloy tubes with the occurrence of dynamic recrystallization.The(0001)basal texture intensities of the magnesium alloy tube blanks decrease due to continuous plastic deformation during the TCESE process.The average hardness of the extruded tubes is approximately HV 75,which is obviously improved.展开更多
Dual equal channel lateral extrusion(DECLE)process with various passes followed by sheet extrusion process was performed to produce fine-grained ZK60 alloy sheets.The coarse grain structure of the annealed sample afte...Dual equal channel lateral extrusion(DECLE)process with various passes followed by sheet extrusion process was performed to produce fine-grained ZK60 alloy sheets.The coarse grain structure of the annealed sample after applying sheet extrusion(size:68μm)changed to fine grains of 6.0 and 5.2μm after 3 and 5 passes of DECLE and following extrusion.The hot shear deformation behavior of samples was studied by developing constitutive equations based on shear punch test(SPT)results.SPT was carried out in the temperature range of 200−300℃ and strain rate range of 0.003−0.33 s^(–1).The activation energy of 125−139 kJ/mol and the stress exponent of 3.5−4.2 were calculated for all conditions,which indicated that dislocation creep,controlled by dislocation climb and solute drag mechanism,acted as the main hot deformation mechanism.It was concluded that material constants of n and Q are dependent on the microstructural factors such as grain size and second phase particle fraction,and the relationship of which was anticipated using a 3D surface curve.Moreover,the similar strong basal texture of extruded sheets gave rise to the same deformation mechanisms during SPT and similar n and Q values for ZK60 alloy.展开更多
