The problem is reduced to designing Hurwitz polynomials with real or complex coefficients. We show that by using Hurwitz polynomials with complex coefficients, a necessary and sufficient condition can be obtained for designing the consensus algorithm. Since the condition is both necessary and sufficient, we provide a kind of parametrization for all the weighting coefficients achieving consensus. Moreover, the condition is a natural extension to second order consensus, and is reasonable and practical due to its comparatively decreased computation burden. The result is also extended to the case where communication delay exists in the control input.展开更多

The agent is active, a program entity, has its own ideas how to perform the tasks of the own agenda. Agents: perceive, behave "reasonably", act in the environment, communicate with other agents. Cloud infrastructures can offer an ideal platform where run MAS systems simulations, applications and real-time running because of its large amount of processing and memory resources that can be dynamically configured for executing large agent-based software at unprecedented scale. Cloud computing can help chemical and food companies drive operational excellence; meet growing and changing customer demands; accelerate new product innovation and ramp-to-volume manufacturing in key markets; reduce IT spending; manage and mitigate supply chain risks; and enable faster and more flexible delivery of new IT system. Production type of SOC (service-oriented computing) can be inspired by a "Cloud", for the production of "Cloud" offers an attractive and natural solutions in several computing trends such as delivery system over the Internet, use of utilities, flexibility, virtualization, a "grid" distributed computing, outsourcing, Web 2.0, etc.. Production of the "Cloud" is also considered as a new multidisciplinary field that includes "network" production, virtual manufacturing, agile manufacturing, and of course cloud computing. Examples of cloud computing and MAS applications in food and chemistry development and industry, proposition of using multi-agent systems in the control of batch processes, modified ACO (ant colony optimization) approach for the diversified service allocation and scheduling mechanism in cloud paradigma, examples of applications in a business area were studied in the paper.展开更多

Comprising of mainly servo-controller and servo-amplifiers, this EISC is capable of controlling a wide range of servomotors to perform complieated tasks. Hence, integration of this EISC with a servomotor forms an intelligent modular actuator (IMA) that is essential to modern manufacturing industries. The development of such an EISC involves two major tasks: first, designing the hardware of a compact-sized and highly compatible EISC, and second, developing the software functions to facilitate its functionalities and capahilities. The developed EISC hence forms an integrated-servo-eontrol module, which determines the capability, functionality, flexibility and responsiveness of these IMAs.展开更多

Electric vehicles and local energy storage will be widely deployed. Internet technology will be utilized to transform the power grid into an energysharing inter-grid. To prepare for the future, a smart grid with intelligent periphery, or smart GRIP, is proposed. The building blocks of GRIP architecture are called clusters and include an energy-management system (EMS)-controlled transmission grid in the core and distribution grids, micro-grids, and smart buildings and homes on the periphery; all of which are hierarchically structured. The layered architecture of GRIP allows a seamless transition from the present to the future and plug-and-play interoperability. The basic functions of a cluster consist of (1) dispatch, (2) smoothing, and (3) mitigation. A risk-limiting dispatch methodology is presented; a new device, called the electric spring, is developed for smoothing out fluctuations in periphery clusters; and means to mitigate failures are discussed.展开更多

In this design, sensor is used to collect respiratory parameters and tumor displacement (caused by human respiration) model is established through optimization modeling. At the same time, data are transferred to single chip microcomputer (SCM) system by pressure sensor and then stepping motor is controlled by SCM. Finally, the intelligent positioning bed is under the control of stepping motor. As a result, the intelligent positioning bed can move reverse to respiratory law. The experimental results showed that this method can reduce the influence of respiration on tumor displacement, improving the accuracy of intelligent positioning bed with simple circuit and low cost at the same time.展开更多

Distributed multi-agent coordination has been a very active subject studied extensively by the systems and control community in last decades, including distributed consensus, formation control, sensor localization, distributed optimization, etc. The aim of this paper is to provide both a comprehensive survey of existing literature in distributed multi-agent coordination and a new perspective in terms of graph Laplacian to categorize the fundamental mechanisms for distributed coordination. For different types of graph Laplacians, we summarize their inherent coordination features and specific research issues. This paper also highlights several promising research directions along with some open problems that are deemed important for future study.展开更多

The authors consider the case where only the relative output feedback between the neighboring agents can be measured. To solve the consensus problem, the authors first construct a static relative output feedback control under some mild constraints on the system model. Then the authors use an observer based approach to design a dynamic relative output feedback control. If the adjacent graph of the system is undirected and connected or directed with a spanning tree, with the proposed control laws, the consensus can be achieved. The authors note that with the observer based approach, some information exchange between the agents is needed unless the associated adjacent graph is completely connected.展开更多
