The PKPM (Bopomofo acronym, a Chinese building design software) structural model and an industry foundation classes (IFC) data model were adopted and analyzed to design the framework of the integration tool. The technique of mixed program languages (C++ and FORTRAN) was applied to developing the tool software, and the connectivity relationships and intersection nodes between the structural elements were optimized and simplified. A case study was implemented to illustrate the method to use the integration tool for information exchange from IFC-format architectural model to PKPM structural model. The results show that the tool can extract the information of architectural model and form a corresponding structural model. The presented method can help to enhance the modeline efficiency at the structural design phase.展开更多

We undertook a survey of architects, during which we distributed 193 questionnaires in 29 A-level architectural design institutes selected radomly from the altogether 59 ones in Shenzhen, P. R. China, and received 130 valid questionnaires. We used Amos 6.0 for SEM to identify significant personal construct based factors affecting interpersonal trust. The results show that only social interaction between architects significantly affects their interpersonal trust. The explained variance of trus~ is not very high in the model. Therefore, future research should add more factors into the current model. The practical implication is that team managers should promote the social interactions between team members such that the interpersonal trust level between team members can be improved.展开更多

The secondary stress of superstructure due to the differential settlement of the foundation is neglected, which leads to larger support moments and longitudinal bending of raft compared with real values. The spring constitutive relation of composite foundation is obtained by the flat plate loading tests in Karst region. The interaction between the spring and the raft is equivalent to the interaction between the composite foundation and the raft. The model for superstructure-raft-composite foundation interaction analysis is thus established and the raft is designed. This method not only considers the nonlinear properties of composite foundation but also analyzes the influence of superstructure on bending moment and deformation of raft. Compared with the inverted floor method, the calculated values of moment become more reasonable and uneven settlements are considered. This can be references to the design of raft foundation in similar regions.展开更多

A 200-DOF (Dimension of freedom) test model is designed to correlate with finite element mode. A newly developed frequency-spatial domain decomposition ( FSDD ) technique is used to identify modal characteristics of the full-size building by using ambient response measurements. In the interested frequency ranges of 0~4.5 Hz and 0~ 6.5 Hz altogether 9 bending and torsion modes are identified. As one of the major focuses of the project, the accurate damping estimation is conducted based on FSDD. The identified modal frequencies and mode shapes are utilized for finite element model tuning. Excellent agreement has been achieved with respect to the final tuned finite element (FE) model up to 9 modes.展开更多

Today ecological risk scales cover territories of large regions. In this respect the territory of Azerbaijan is not exception, within which Baku is noted by very adverse ecological conditions. Complex natural conditions (presence of strong winds, high air temperature and solar radiation) complicate the city ecological situation even greater. In modem conditions a construction boom relates to the factors aggravating the ecological situation of Baku. Last 10 years the city is rapidly built on by multistoried buildings which deform it, hinder visual contacts to the environment and obstruct the natural aeration of Baku amphitheater. The modem multistoried buildings erected ignoring town-planning norms do not correspond with regional climatic conditions, essentially modify the territory wind regime, hamper in surrounding buildings insolation, neglect a territory temperature-humidity conditions. As a result, it is necessary to use energy overly for their adaptation to Baku conditions and creation comfortable microclimate in them that leads to the city environmental pollution. The planning decisions and construction materials applied in these buildings are also alien to Baku climatic conditions. For qualitative transformation of Baku environment and improvement of ecological characteristics of the residential areas the author has carried out the estimation of the city territory on a complex of climatic factors (aeration, insolation and thermal-humidity regimes). For these purposes the multidimensional statistical method is used. As a result the investigated territory of Baku is divided into 5 typological areas on climatic conditions. The brief characteristic and the general recommendations on transformation are worked out by the author for each of these typological units. Results of the research can be a basis for revealing of methods and principles of town-planning and architectural-planning organization of Baku residential areas.展开更多

This way, the main objective of this work is to investigate the dynamic structural behaviour of a steel-concrete composite multi-storey building when subjected to human rhythmic activities (aerobics). The studied structural model represents a typical interior floor bay of a commercial building used for gym and is composed by three floor levels spanning 20 m by 20 m, with a total area of 3×400 m2. An extensive parametric study was developed aiming to obtain the peak accelerations, RMS (root mean square) accelerations and VDV (vibration dose value) values, based on two different mathematical formulations. The human comfort of the building was analysed and the vibration transmissibility related to the steel columns was verified. Based on the found results, the investigated structural model presented high vibration levels that compromise the human comfort.展开更多

Reliability of an object is an essential issue during its usage. The main problem is the strive to eliminate damage formation. Predicting the reliability of an object should allow qualitative and quantitative analysis of the possibility of occurrence of unfavorable events. The adaptation of mathematical models describing the degradation processes in mechanical and electronic devices creates opportunities to develop diagnostic standards for buildings erected in traditional technology. The article presents the methodology of prediction of reliability of a building, and the values of performance features are defined by the parameters of the Weibull distribution function.展开更多

Plenty of literatures can be available about simply supported composite slabs with single span. However, continuous slabs always exist in high-rise building structures. In order to obtain the ultimate loading capacity of continuous composite slabs, the full scale test on slab specimens with high cost need to be carried out. This paper presented an analytical model for calculating the ultimate loading capacity of continuous composite slabs. Only the small-scale slide block test needed to be carried out for determining some mechanical parameters, resulting in less cost, compared with the conventional m-k test method. Various load conditions and parameters were considered in the analytical model. The comparison between test results and predicted results showed that the proposed method had enough precision. Furthermore, the simplified method was also proposed for practical design.展开更多
