In this study, we sought to determine if baicalin and geniposide could inhibit atherosclerosis through Wntl and dickkopf-related protein-1 (DKK1). Methods The wild-type and ApoE-/- mice were treated with baicalin, geniposide, and baicalin plus geniposide daily by gavage for 12 weeks. Blood lipid levels were measured with an automatic biochemistry analyzer. Aortic atherosclerotic lesion areas were analyzed with Image-ProPlus software. The mRNA and protein expression of DKK1, Wntt and nuclear factor-r,B (NF-κB) were measured with RT-PCR and Westem Blot. Serum levels of interleukin-12 (IL-12) were quantified with ELISA. Results The baicalin or geniposide monotherapy as well as combination therapy inhibited the development of atherosclerotic lesions, increased Wntl and decreased DKKI expression and elevated the ratio of Wntl/DKK1 compared with high-lipid diet group. However, only baicalin or geniposide monotherapy decreased NF-κB expression. Moreover, baicalin and geniposide monoor combination therapy lowered IL-12 levels. Geniposide reduced both serum total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein levels, while baicalin either alone or in combination with geniposide did not affect serum lipid levels. In human, umbilical vein endothelial ceils stimulated by oxidized low density lipoprotein, baicalin and geniposide also increased Wntl and decreased DKK1 expression and elevated the ratio of Wntl/DKK1. Condusions Baicalin and geniposide exert inflammation-regulatory effects and may prevent atherosclerotic lesions through enhancing Wntl and inhibit- ing DKK1 expression.展开更多

We report a 61-year-old male presented with fatigue, long-lasting fever, loss of weight, signs of portal hypertension, hepatosplenomegaly, cholestasis and progressive dyspnoea over the last year. Clinical, laboratory and histological findings confirmed the diagnosis of granulomatous hepatitis. HPS due to hepatic granulomainduced portal hypertension was proved to be the cause of severe hypoxemia of the patient as confirmed by contrast-enhanced echocardiography. Reversion of HPS after corticosteroid therapy was confirmed by a new contrastenhanced echocardiography along with the normalization of cholestatic enzymes and improvement of the patient' s conditions. This is the first case of complete reversion of HPS in a non-cirrhotic patient with hepatic granuloma, indicating that intrapulmonary shunt in liver diseases is a functional phenomenon and HPS can be developed even in miscellaneous liver involvement as in this case.展开更多

Using quantum computation combined with experimental results of proximate analysis, ultimate analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), a structural model for the large molecular structure was constructed. By analyzing the bond lengths in the model molecule, the evolution law for the active structure of lignite was predicted for the process of low-temperature oxidation. In low-temperature oxidation, alkanes and hydroxyls are the primary active structures observed in lignite, though ether may also react. These active functional groups react with oxygen to release heat, thereby speeding up the reaction between coal and oxygen. Finally, the content of various functional groups in the process of lignite low-temperature oxidation was analyzed by infrared analysis, and the accuracy of the model was verified.展开更多

The LNA, fabricated in the 0.18μm 1P6M CMOS technology, adopts a gain-switched technique to increase the linearity and enlarge the dynamic range. The mixer is an IQ-based passive topology. Measurements of the CMOS chip are performed on the FR-4 PCB and the input is matched to 50Ω. Combining LNA and mixer, the front-end measured performances in high gain state are: -15dB of Sll, 18.5dB of voltage gain, 4.6dB of noise figure, 15dBm of IIP3, 85dBm to -10dBm dynamic range. The full circuit drains 6mA from a 1.8V supply.展开更多

Different compositions of DESs were used and the polyethylene glycol 2000(PEG2000)/2.5 BSA system showed the highest desulfurization activity, with the removal of dibenzothiophene(DBT) at 60 ℃ reaching 95% in 60 min. The excellent desulfurization activity of the system is due to the in situ formation of peroxysulfonate via a biomimetic process. By constructing a coupled redox system, Fe-Anderson type POMs as ETMs reduce the activation energy of oxygen-activated sulfonate. The physical characteristics of four different DESs were tested. The results show that the conductivity of DESs is correlated with the composition of BSA-based DESs. However, there is no similar trend in viscosity testing at the same temperature, and the maximum viscosity value is obtained for the PEG2000/2.5 BSA system at 60 ℃, which may be associated with the stronger hydrogen bonds. It is worth noting that the PEG2000/2.5 BSA system also possesses the best desulfurization activity, which suggests that the activity of the desulfurization system is related to the strength of the hydrogen bond in DESs. Finally, the biomimetic desulfurization system exhibits excellent performance and good stability under mild reaction conditions(60 ℃, atmospheric pressure, oxygen as the oxidant).展开更多

Glucose, nitrate, and urea were respectively used as C, B, and N sources doped TiO2 at low temperature sol gel method, The obtained nano TiO2 was characterized by DRS, FIRT, TG-DTG. The photocatalytic properties and the optical response range of the natase nanocrystalline were analyzed and studied with the hybrid orbital theory. The results show that the band gap of the doped TiO2 was narrow, and the photocatalytic ability could be excited by the visible lighL and the doping of non metallic elements broadens the application range of TiO2, so that it could be excited under the visible light and obtained better use value.展开更多

METHODS: Human U937 cells were stimulated by in- cubation with 100 nM phorbo112-myristate 13-ace- tate (PMA) for 48 h.These stimulated, monocyte-like cells were then incubated for 24 h with 50 mg/L oxi- dized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL, to induce foam cell formation), together with a liver X recep- tor (LXR) agonist or with different DHI concentra- tions. MSR1 and ABCA1 mRNA levels were mea- sured by fluorescence-based quantitative PCR. RESULTS: Compared with control cells (which re- ceived only ox-LDL), cells treated with both ox-LDL and 10 IJmol/L LXR agonist showed lower MSR1 ex-pression (but this effect was not statistically signifi- cant, P〉0.05) and higher ABCA1 expression (P〈 0.01). Cells that received ox-LDL and 3 mL/L DHI possessed higher MSR1 mRNA levels than the con- trols, whereas cells treated with ox-LDL and higher DHI concentrations (10, 30 or 60 mL/L) showed low- er MSR1 expression levels (but the differences ob- served between DHI concentration groups were not statistically significant, P〉0.05). ABCA1 expression in cells treated with ox-LDL and 3, 10 or 30 mL/L DHI was higher than in the control cells, and increased with increasing DHI concentration (P〈0.05). ABCA1 expression in cells treated with ox-LDL and the highest DHI concentration tested (60 mL/L) was not significantly different from that in the controls. ABCA1 mRNA levels in cells treated with ox-LDL and DHI were similar to, or lower than, those in cells treated with ox-LDL and the LXR agonist. CONCLUSION: DHI does not affect MSR1 mRNA lev- els in ox-LDL-treated U937 cells. However, at certain concentrations (10 and 30 mL/L), DHI significantly increases ABCA1 mRNA levels. Therefore, the an- ti-atherosclerotic action of DHI might be mediated by an increased expression of ABCA1.展开更多
