In this paper, the effect of anatomical characters on the transverse fracture properties of green wood was investigated. The specific fracture energy (Gf J/m2) of ash (Fraxinus excelsior), cherry (Prunus avium) and birch (Betula pendula) was evaluated using double edge notched tensile tests. The tests were performed on both earlywood (EW) and latewood (LW) zones in both the radial-tangential (RT) and the tangential-radial (TR) crack propagation systems. Wood anatomy and the failure patterns of each species were also investigated using environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) and light microscopy (LMC). The results showed that the Gfof RT fracture systems was around 1.5 times greater than in the TR one, whereas there were no significant differences between EW and LW zones. ESEM micrographs showed that the RT fracture system had a rougher fracture surface, while the TR had a nearly smooth and fiat fracture surface. In particular, the wood ofF. excelsior was the toughest, because of its greater percentage of rays and homogenous distribution of ray cells, while P. avium and B. pendula showed a lower Gf due to their smaller percentage of rays with a distinctive arrangement of ray cells.展开更多

We proposed a novel driving logical waveform generator based on the SCI interface, which can real-time adjust the parameters to optimize performance of the PDP and facilitate the research and test. The use of nesting state-machine and parameterized design not only improves the resource utilization, but also makes it efficient and readable. The design has been written in synthesizable Verilog and fully verified using Xilinx FPGA device and applied in 42-in AC-PDP module.展开更多

The offspring of albino A. japonicus also suffer from albinism. The formation of melanin in the melanocytes is dependant on microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF). To investigate the role of MITF in controlling albinism, we cloned the full-length MITF cDNA from A. japonicus and compared MITF mRNA expression in albino and normal A. japonicus. In addition, we used light and electron microscopy to compare histological samples of normal and albino A. japonicus. The body wall of albino adults was characterized by significantly lower levels of MITF expression and lower numbers of epidermal melanocytes, which also contained less melanin. In albino juvenile offspring, MITF expression levels were significantly lower 32 d after fertilization and there were fewer, and less developed, epidermal melanocytes. Thus, we conclude that albino A. japonicus have fewer melanocytes and a reduced ability to synthesize melanin, likely because of lower expression of MITF.展开更多
In order to study the relationship between the triggering current, deuterium pressure and the excess heat, a series of experiments were made in a D/Pd gas-loading system. By comparing the system constants (k = AT//kP...In order to study the relationship between the triggering current, deuterium pressure and the excess heat, a series of experiments were made in a D/Pd gas-loading system. By comparing the system constants (k = AT//kP) in both nitrogen and deuterium atmosphere we found an optimum current (8 A) and a deuterium pressure (9 x 104 Pa) in which the system could release a maximum excess power (more than 80 W). The reproducibility was 16/16 and the excess energy released in the longest experiment was about 300 MJ within 40 days, which was corresponding to 104 eV for each palladium atom. Analysis of the palladium surface with a SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and an EDS (energy dispersive spectrometer) revealed that some new surface topographical feature with concentrations of unexpected elements (such as Ag, Sn, Pb and Ca) appeared after the current triggering. The results implied that the excess heat might come from a nuclear transmutation.展开更多

Furfural extract o...Aromatic oil has been used to promote the properties of crumb rubber modified asphalt which is an ideal method to deal with the resource utilization of waste rubber tires and by-product of refinery. Furfural extract oil(FEO) was separated into the light fraction and the heavy fraction. Swelling and dissolution process of natural rubber sheet in these three oil samples was investigated to shed light on the interaction mechanism. Crumb rubber also interacted on FEO and asphalt respectively. Energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS), thermo-gravimetric analysis(TGA) and scanning electron microscope(SEM) were used to characterize the chemical and structural properties of processed rubber. The chemical composition of processed oils and asphalt was investigated by using the hydrocarbon group analysis(SARA) and gel permeation chromatography. The results revealed that the swelling rate and mass loss of rubber in oils were much higher than those in asphalt and rose with an increasing processing temperature. The heavy fraction of FEO had more diffusion and dissolving capability than the light fraction, whilst compatibility was observed between the heavy fraction and the light fraction. Selective absorption was not observed in the study and detachment of dissolved rubber was disseminated from the outside to the inside. The cross-linking degree of the residue rubber was unchanged with the processing time, and sulfur predominantly remained in the undissolved rubber. Dissolution of crumbed rubber in oils was attributed to devulcanization, while that in the asphalt was mainly attributed to depolymerization.展开更多

The mechanism for the formation of fiber-like arrangement of rein- forcing nanoparticles in Ag/SnO2 electrical contact material was also discussed. The as-prepared samples were char- acterized by means of scanning electron microscope (SEM), optical microscope (OM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), MHV2000 microhardness test, and double bridge tester. The analysis showed that the as-prepared Ag/SnO,, electrical contact material with fiber-like arrangement of reinforcing nanoparticles exhibits a high elongation of 24 %, a particularly low electrical resistivity of 2.08 μΩ. cm, and low arcing energy, and thus has considerable technical, economical and environmental benefits.展开更多

The family of Cr(Ⅲ) and Fe(Ⅲ)-doped rutile pigments of nominal composition (M^ⅢM^V)xTi1-2xO2, with M^Ⅲ = Cr(Ⅲ) or Fe(Ⅲ) and M'(V) = Sb, Nb, Ta, with x = 0.03, 0.15 and 0.25 were investigated as cera...The family of Cr(Ⅲ) and Fe(Ⅲ)-doped rutile pigments of nominal composition (M^ⅢM^V)xTi1-2xO2, with M^Ⅲ = Cr(Ⅲ) or Fe(Ⅲ) and M'(V) = Sb, Nb, Ta, with x = 0.03, 0.15 and 0.25 were investigated as ceramic pigments covering the yellow-ochre-brown palette. The formulations containing Fe(Ⅲ) are novel compositions not included in the commercial rutile pigments. The materials were characterized by XRD (X-ray diffraction) analysis and FTIR (Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy). The transition temperature from anatase-to-rutile was estimated by the evolution of the spectral patterns. This crystal phase transition is responsible of the color formation. A higher distortion of TiO6 octahedra is observed in the case of (FeSb) containing cells which contribute to the enhancement of the light absorption. The coloring performance of all the formulations were evaluated by enameling the mixtures containing 5% pigments and commercial frits representative of single and double firing industrial processes. The chromatic values obtained are in the yellow to brown domain of the chromatic plot, depending on the composition of the pigment-frit batch. In the case of the Fe-glazes, and particularly the combination (FeNb), the chromatic values are close to the best yellow tinting. This new FeNb-rutile pigment could be a more benign substitute of Cr-yellow pigments. The homogeneity of the enamels was confirmed by SEM (scanning electron microscopy)-EDAX (energy dispersive X-ray analysis) microscopy.展开更多

The gases include Ar (argon), N2 (nitrogen) and CO2 (carbon dioxide). The gas kinetic diameter with respect to permenace was found to occur in the order of At 〉 CO2 〉 N2, which was not in agreement with molecular sieving mechanism of transport after the first dip-coating of the support. However, gas flow rate was found to increase with gauge pressure in the order of Ar 〉 CO2 〉 N2, indicating Knudsen mechanism of transport. The porous ceramic support showed a higher flux indicating Knudsen transport. The surface image of the dip-coated porous ceramic membrane was characterised using SEM (scanning electron microscopy) to determine the surface morphology of the porous support at 333 K.展开更多

The results showed that the gland is folded pleats organ, which is highly glandular area of the epidermal lining the roof of the mantle cavity. Two such glandular areas, one on each side of the rectum, occur in H. diversicolor. Left one is much larger than fight one. By light microscope, on H-E stained section, four cell types can be divided: cells with weak basophilic fibrillar elements; with acidophilic granular substance; with strong basophiIic fibrillar elements and ciliated ceils. In the basal lamina region under the gland epithelium, there are a few connective tissues. Surface view of the gland could be seen by scanning electron microscope, there are cilia and different kinds of secretions distributed. By transmission electron microscope, supporting cells, sensory cells and seven types gland cells were observed to form the glandular epithelium. Cells are rich in rough endoplasmic reticulum, smooth muscle fiber and nerve endings were found beneath glandular epithelium, between basal lamina.展开更多
This paper reports the extraction of aloe-emodin from aloe by microwave-assisted extraction. The effects of various factors, including the solvent, the ratio (mL/g) of the solvent to the sample, microwave irradiatio...This paper reports the extraction of aloe-emodin from aloe by microwave-assisted extraction. The effects of various factors, including the solvent, the ratio (mL/g) of the solvent to the sample, microwave irradiation time and microwave power, were discussed in the experiments. The yield of aloe-emodin was determined by HPLC. The optimized conditions for micro- wave-assisted extraction of aloe-emodin were concluded as follows: the solvent is 80% ethanol (V/V) solution, microwave ir- radiation time is 3 rain and microwave power is 340 W. Additionally, HPLC fingerprint was developed for consistency evalua- tion of aloe. The similarities of 3 aloe samples obtained by microwave-assisted extraction, ultrasound-assisted extraction and Soxhlet extraction were more than 0.9, indicating that 3 aloe samples were consistent. Compared with Soxhlet extraction and ultrasound-assisted extraction, microwave extraction is a rapid method with higher yield and less solvent consumption. Aloe samples treated by microwave-assisted extraction, ultrasound-assisted extraction and Soxhlet extraction were observed using transmission electronic microscopy. The micrographs provide evidence of more breakage of chloroplasts treated by micro- wave-assisted extraction as compared to Soxhlet extraction and ultrasound-assisted extraction.展开更多
Conjugated organic polymer(COP)-based electrochromic devices(ECDs)exhibit promising applications in digital and color displays.However,fabricating COP-based ECDs integrated with excellent electrochromic performance,cu...Conjugated organic polymer(COP)-based electrochromic devices(ECDs)exhibit promising applications in digital and color displays.However,fabricating COP-based ECDs integrated with excellent electrochromic performance,customized patterns,and flexibility remains challenging.In this study,we report inkjet-printed,flexible,and patterned ECDs based on two-dimensional(2 D)polyaniline(PANI)sheets,which are evenly dispersed in formic acid(FA)enabling high-precision,stable inkjet printing.The pristine lamellar structure of PANI sheets,which combine nanoscale thickness and an appropriate doping ratio,and the additive-free ink composition endow the printed PANI electrodes and ECDs with high performance.The fabricated PANI electrode exhibits a high optical contrast(76%at a wavelength of 750 nm),a good coloration efficiency(CE)of 259.1 cm^(2) C^(-1),and a short coloration/bleaching time(1.8/2.4 s),simultaneously integrated with pseudocapacitance and mechanical flexibility.Moreover,the 2 D lamellar PANI ink developed in this study can be printed into various designed patterns,particularly for electrochemically controlled,addressable electrochromic displays.This work highlights 2 D lamellar PANI as a promising electrochromic material for flexible and patterned ECDs.展开更多

文摘The family of Cr(Ⅲ) and Fe(Ⅲ)-doped rutile pigments of nominal composition (M^ⅢM^V)xTi1-2xO2, with M^Ⅲ = Cr(Ⅲ) or Fe(Ⅲ) and M'(V) = Sb, Nb, Ta, with x = 0.03, 0.15 and 0.25 were investigated as ceramic pigments covering the yellow-ochre-brown palette. The formulations containing Fe(Ⅲ) are novel compositions not included in the commercial rutile pigments. The materials were characterized by XRD (X-ray diffraction) analysis and FTIR (Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy). The transition temperature from anatase-to-rutile was estimated by the evolution of the spectral patterns. This crystal phase transition is responsible of the color formation. A higher distortion of TiO6 octahedra is observed in the case of (FeSb) containing cells which contribute to the enhancement of the light absorption. The coloring performance of all the formulations were evaluated by enameling the mixtures containing 5% pigments and commercial frits representative of single and double firing industrial processes. The chromatic values obtained are in the yellow to brown domain of the chromatic plot, depending on the composition of the pigment-frit batch. In the case of the Fe-glazes, and particularly the combination (FeNb), the chromatic values are close to the best yellow tinting. This new FeNb-rutile pigment could be a more benign substitute of Cr-yellow pigments. The homogeneity of the enamels was confirmed by SEM (scanning electron microscopy)-EDAX (energy dispersive X-ray analysis) microscopy.
文摘The transport behaviour of carrier gases with inorganic catalytic ceramic membrane used for ethyl lactate production and VOC (volatile organic compound) recovery in the gauge pressure range of 0.10-1.00 bar and temperature range of 333 K was investigated. The gases include Ar (argon), N2 (nitrogen) and CO2 (carbon dioxide). The gas kinetic diameter with respect to permenace was found to occur in the order of At 〉 CO2 〉 N2, which was not in agreement with molecular sieving mechanism of transport after the first dip-coating of the support. However, gas flow rate was found to increase with gauge pressure in the order of Ar 〉 CO2 〉 N2, indicating Knudsen mechanism of transport. The porous ceramic support showed a higher flux indicating Knudsen transport. The surface image of the dip-coated porous ceramic membrane was characterised using SEM (scanning electron microscopy) to determine the surface morphology of the porous support at 333 K.

文摘Fine structure of the hypobranchial gland of Haliotis diversicolor has been studied by light and electron microscopy. The results showed that the gland is folded pleats organ, which is highly glandular area of the epidermal lining the roof of the mantle cavity. Two such glandular areas, one on each side of the rectum, occur in H. diversicolor. Left one is much larger than fight one. By light microscope, on H-E stained section, four cell types can be divided: cells with weak basophilic fibrillar elements; with acidophilic granular substance; with strong basophiIic fibrillar elements and ciliated ceils. In the basal lamina region under the gland epithelium, there are a few connective tissues. Surface view of the gland could be seen by scanning electron microscope, there are cilia and different kinds of secretions distributed. By transmission electron microscope, supporting cells, sensory cells and seven types gland cells were observed to form the glandular epithelium. Cells are rich in rough endoplasmic reticulum, smooth muscle fiber and nerve endings were found beneath glandular epithelium, between basal lamina.

文摘This paper reports the extraction of aloe-emodin from aloe by microwave-assisted extraction. The effects of various factors, including the solvent, the ratio (mL/g) of the solvent to the sample, microwave irradiation time and microwave power, were discussed in the experiments. The yield of aloe-emodin was determined by HPLC. The optimized conditions for micro- wave-assisted extraction of aloe-emodin were concluded as follows: the solvent is 80% ethanol (V/V) solution, microwave ir- radiation time is 3 rain and microwave power is 340 W. Additionally, HPLC fingerprint was developed for consistency evalua- tion of aloe. The similarities of 3 aloe samples obtained by microwave-assisted extraction, ultrasound-assisted extraction and Soxhlet extraction were more than 0.9, indicating that 3 aloe samples were consistent. Compared with Soxhlet extraction and ultrasound-assisted extraction, microwave extraction is a rapid method with higher yield and less solvent consumption. Aloe samples treated by microwave-assisted extraction, ultrasound-assisted extraction and Soxhlet extraction were observed using transmission electronic microscopy. The micrographs provide evidence of more breakage of chloroplasts treated by micro- wave-assisted extraction as compared to Soxhlet extraction and ultrasound-assisted extraction.

文摘Conjugated organic polymer(COP)-based electrochromic devices(ECDs)exhibit promising applications in digital and color displays.However,fabricating COP-based ECDs integrated with excellent electrochromic performance,customized patterns,and flexibility remains challenging.In this study,we report inkjet-printed,flexible,and patterned ECDs based on two-dimensional(2 D)polyaniline(PANI)sheets,which are evenly dispersed in formic acid(FA)enabling high-precision,stable inkjet printing.The pristine lamellar structure of PANI sheets,which combine nanoscale thickness and an appropriate doping ratio,and the additive-free ink composition endow the printed PANI electrodes and ECDs with high performance.The fabricated PANI electrode exhibits a high optical contrast(76%at a wavelength of 750 nm),a good coloration efficiency(CE)of 259.1 cm^(2) C^(-1),and a short coloration/bleaching time(1.8/2.4 s),simultaneously integrated with pseudocapacitance and mechanical flexibility.Moreover,the 2 D lamellar PANI ink developed in this study can be printed into various designed patterns,particularly for electrochemically controlled,addressable electrochromic displays.This work highlights 2 D lamellar PANI as a promising electrochromic material for flexible and patterned ECDs.
