A high gain operational amplifier (OPA) is utilized to form negative feedback. A proportional to absolute temperature (PTAT) current reference with transistors operated in a weak inversion is used as the bias circuit. The resistor and the OPA nonlinearity behavior are analyzed in detail. By optimizing parameters in OPA and adopting a small voltage coefficient polysilicon resistor as a linear device, a high linearity is achieved. The circuit is implemented in a standard 0. 6 μm CMOS technology. The low frequency gain of the OPA exceeds 90 dB. The test results indicate that the total harmonic distortion (THD)is 0. 000 2%. The common-mode input linearity range is 0 to 2. 6 V. Correspondingly, the output current range is 50 to 426μA. The sensitivity of the PTAT current reference to Vdd is approximately 0. 021 7. The chip consumes a power of less than 1.3 mW for a 5 V supply, and occupies an area of 0. 112 mm^2.展开更多

It features simple control due to the constant duty ratio PWM used. It can obtain unity power factor by selecting a suitable LC filter at its input to force the voltage of capacitor to operate in discontinuous capacitor voltage mode. And by using another resonant LC filter at its output, it can not only eliminate the input current distortion at the vicinity of the zero crossing of the supply but also drastically reduce the 100 Hz output voltage ripple. The validity of analysis is confirmed by simulation results and experimental results.展开更多

To obtain low noise and charge injection, the zero-voltage switching was used to remove the signal-dependent charge injection, and the signal-independent charge injection was reduced by removing the feed-through voltage from the input port of the memory transistor directly. This current sample-and-hold circuit was implemented using CMOS 180 nm 1.8 V technology. For a 0.8 MHz sinusoidal signal input, the simulated signal-to-noise and distortion ratio and total harmonic distortion were improved from 53.74 dB and -51.24 dB to 56.53 dB and -54.36 dB at the sampling rate of 20 MHz respectively, with accuracy of 9.01 bit and power consumption of 0.44 mW.展开更多

The phase currents at both sides and the DC-link capacitor voltages were measured for the prediction of the neutral-point current. A quality function was found to balance the neutral-point, and a metabolic on-times distribution factor was used as a predicator to minimize the quality function at each switching state. Simulation results show that the proposed method produces smaller ripples in tested signals compared with the established one, namely, 9.15% less in a total harmonic distortion(THD) of line-to-line voltage, 1.08% less in the THD of phase current, and 0.9 V less in the ripple of the neutral-point voltage. The obtained experimental results show that the main harmonics of the line-to-line voltage and the phase current in the proposed method are improved by 10 d B and 6 d B, respectively, and the ripple of neutral-point voltage is halved compared to the established one.展开更多

We observed phenomena under pulsed voltages that generally do not manifest themselves under direct-current voltages. We interpreted these phenomena with the cathode and anode combined treated as equivalent to a resistor and a condenser in series connection. First, because of the delay caused by the charging process of the condenser, the waveform of the voltage across the cathode-anode gap was remarkably distorted. Second, the resistor led to considerable attenuation in field emission, which was clearly observable within each pulse and became more dramatic with increasing repetition frequency of the pulses. Furthermore, the field emission currents under direct-current voltages were lower than those under pulsed voltages. This disparity is attributed to rising resistance in the circuit with rising temperature. We also discussed the restrictions that the waveform distortion and current attenuation could impose on potential field emitter applications.展开更多
