The experimental results revealed that the overall corrosion resistance of WC-Co coating was inferior to that of WC-Co-Cr coating. The surface nanostructure was characterized by TEM, and the electrochemical behaviors of the samples with nanocrystalline layer and coarse grain were comparatively investigated in 0.9% NaCl and 0.2% NaF solutions, respectively. The results indicate that nanocrystallines with the size of 10-30 nm are formed within the surface layer of 30 μm in depth. The morphologies, thickness, corrosion performances, and tribological properties of the coatings were investigated by the scanning electron microscopy, the electrochemical measurement system, and MS-T3000 friction test rig, respectively. The results show that the structure of the coatings becomes denser, and thickness becomes thinner with the increase of the current frequency. Microstructure, micro-hardness, adhesion strength and cross-sectional morphology of the obtained multilayer coatings were investigated. The results show that the Vickers hardness of Ti/TiN/Zr/ZrN multilayer coating, with a film thickness of 11.37 μm, is 29.36 GPa. The erosion and salt spray resistance performance of Cr_17Ni_2 steel substrates can be evidently improved by Ti/TiN/Zr/ZrN multilayer coating. The surface roughness of Cr_17Ni_2 steel substrates plays an important role in determining the mechanical and erosion performances of Ti/TiN/Zr/ZrN multilayer coatings. Overall, a low value of the surface roughness of substrates corresponds to an improved performance of erosion and salt spray resistance of multilayer coatings. The optimized performance of Ti/TiN/Zr/ZrN multilayer coatings can be achieved provided that the surface roughness of Cr_17Ni_2 steel substrates is lower than 0.4μm.展开更多

During the electroplating, the mechanical attrition(MA) was introduced by impact of glass balls on the sample surface with a special vibrating frequency. The surface and cross-sectional images of Ni coating were observed with SEM. The microstructure and crystallinity of coating were examined with TEM and XRD. The electrochemical performance of coating was measured with polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and its mechanical behaviours, such as tensile strength and hardness, were studied. By MA, the coating becomes smooth, compact, thin and has refined grains and is free of cracks and pores. Consequently, the adhesion, tensile strength, hardness and corrosion resistance of coating are improved significantly.展开更多

Electrochemical tests including polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy are used to examine the corrosion resistance, and scanning electron microscopy is used to observe the microstructure. The chemical nature of conversion coating is investigated by energy dispersive spectroscopy. And thermodynamic method is used to analyze the optimum pH. The results show that PA conversion coating can improve the corrosion resistance of AZ31 Mg alloy. The maximum efficiency achieves 89.19% when the AZ31 Mg alloy is treated by PA solution with pH=5. The thermal and corrosion behaviors were investigated using various experimental techniques. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and dilatometer (DIL) results show that the Fe78Si9B13 ribbons are in full amorphous state after pressing and the amount of free volume increases monotonically with increasing pressure. The corrosion resistance of the glassy alloys in various solutions decreases after compression at 10 MPa, but increases after compression at 20 MPa. The non-monotonic change of corrosion resistance is consistent with the result of electrical resistivity, which can be explained by the combining action of free volume that is introduced by the compression and the segregation of Si atoms in the samples.展开更多

The results indicate that the Mg-Al-Pb-La anode provides enhanced corrosion resistance at open circlepotential, and exhibits better discharge activity than the Mg-Al-Pb alloy. The utilization efficiency of Mg-Al-Pb-La anode ishigher than that of commercial Mg-Al-Zn (AZ) and Mg-Al-Mn (AM) alloys. A single Mg-air battery with Mg-Al-Pb-La alloy asthe anode and air as the cathode has an average discharge potential of 1.295 V and a discharge capacity of 1370 mA·h/g duringdischarge at 10 mA/cm2, which is higher than that of batteries using Mg-Li anodes. The enhancement in discharge performance ofthe Mg-Al-Pb-La anode is caused by its modified microstructure, which reduces the self-corrosion and accelerates the spalling ofoxidation products during battery discharge. Furthermore, the dissolution mechanism of Mg-Al-Pb-La anode during the dischargeprocess was analyzed.展开更多

The welding process was conducted in a single pass with a heat input of ~1.5 kJ/mm. The microstructural observations of the welds were correlated with the effect of EMILI on the local mechanical properties and the corrosion resistance in natural seawater by means of microhardness measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, respectively. Microstructural characterization of the welds revealed a grain refinement in the weld metal due to the electromagnetic stirring induced by EMILI of 3 mT during welding. In addition, observations in the scanning electron microscope showed that the precipitation of Cu-rich phases and segregation of eutectics were reduced in the heat affected zone (HAZ) also as an effect of EMILI. The high corrosion dissolution of the 7075-T651 welds in natural seawater and the extent of overaging in the HAZ were reduced when welding with EMILI of 3 mT. Thus, EMILI along with the MIEA technique may lead to welded joints with better microstructural characteristics, improved mechanical properties in the HAZ and reduced electrochemical activity.展开更多

文摘xCu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet and 1BaO-xCu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet(x=5,10,17) inert anodes were prepared as potential inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis and their corrosion resistance to traditional electrolyte was studied with anodic current density of 1.0 A/cm2 in laboratory electrolysis. The substantial corrosion of metal Cu was observed, many pores appeared on the surface of anode and electrolytes infiltrated inside anodes during the electrolysis. The wear rates of 5Cu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4),10Cu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4),17Cu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4),1BaO-5Cu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4),1BaO-10Cu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) and 1BaO-17Cu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) are 2.15,6.50,8.30,4.88,4.70 and 4.48 cm/a,respectively.The addition of BaO to 10Cu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet and 17Cu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet is advantageous because BaO can effectively promote densification and thus improve corrosion resistance. But the addition of BaO to 5Cu/(10NiO-NiFe2O4) cermet is unfavorable to corrosion resistance because additive BaO at the grain boundary of anode accelerates possibly the corrosion of cermet.
文摘The nanocomposite coating is obtained by electrochemical deposition of the zinc plating solution with ceria nanoparticles (mean diameter 30 nm). The effect of ceria nanoparticles on the electrodeposited zinc coating is stu died by weight loss test, inductively copuled plasma quantometer (ICP), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. It is found that under the same electrodeposition conditions, the corrosion resistance of the nanocomposite coating increases obviously while that of the micron composite coating only improves slightly; The ceria content of the nanocomposite coating is more than that of the micron composite coating. Ceria nanoparticles modify the surface morphology and crystal structure of the zinc matrix in correlation with the increase of corrosion resistance.

文摘The effects of Hg and Ga on the electrochemical corrosion behaviors of the Mg-2%Hg, Mg-2%Ga and Mg-2%Hg-2%Ga (mass fraction) alloys were investigated by measurements of polarization curves, galvanostatic tests and measurements of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry and energy dispersive spectrometry were employed to characterize the microstructures and the corroded surface of the above alloys. The results demonstrate that the microstructure of the Mg-2%Ga alloy is solid solution and the Mg-2%Hg and Mg-2%Hg-2%Ga alloys have white second-phases at the grain boundaries. The Mg-2%Ga alloy has the worst electrochemical activity and the best corrosion resistance, showing a mean potential of -1.48 V and a corrosion current density of 0.15 mA/cm2. The Mg-2%Hg-2%Ga alloy has the best electrochemical activity and the worst corrosion resistance, showing a mean potential of -1.848 V and a corrosion current density of 2.136 mA/cm2. The activation mechanism of the Mg-Hg-Ga alloy is dissolution-deposition of the Hg and Ga atoms.

文摘New types of refractory materials need to be developed for designing the man-made ledge of the Hall-Heroult cell for aluminum electrolysis, which are currently constructed by frozen ledge.Magnesium aluminate spinel (MAS) as potential candidate materials was prepared by two-step sintering. The densification and grain growth of the MAS wereinvestigatedbytheArchimedes drainage method and scanning electron microscope (SEM). All the specimens were corroded in aNa3AlF6-AlF3-CaF2-Al2O3bath to assess the corrosion resistance. The results show that a MAS material with a high relative density of 99.2% and ahomogeneous microstructure is achieved under two-step sintering conditions. The corrosion mechanisms of MAS inNa3AlF6-AlF3-CaF2-Al2O3 bathare mainly proposed by dissolution of MAS, formation of aluminum oxide, and diffusion of fluorides. The MAS prepared by two-step sintering exhibits good corrosion resistance to theNa3AlF6-AlF3-CaF2-Al2O3bath.

文摘Ti/TiN/Zr/ZrN multilayer coatings were deposited on Cr_17Ni_2 steel substrates with different surface roughnesses by vacuum cathodic arc deposition method. The optimized performance of Ti/TiN/Zr/ZrN multilayer coatings can be achieved provided that the surface roughness of Cr_17Ni_2 steel substrates is lower than 0.4μm.

文摘Ni coating was deposited on carbon steel by a mechanical attrition enhanced electroplating (MAEE) process. The results show that the MA has significant effects on the microstructure and property of the electroplated Ni coating. By MA, the coating becomes smooth, compact, thin and has refined grains and is free of cracks and pores. Consequently, the adhesion, tensile strength, hardness and corrosion resistance of coating are improved significantly.
文摘Phytic acid (PA) conversion coating on AZ31 magnesium alloy is prepared by a deposition method. pH influences on the formation process, microstructure and properties of the conversion coating are investigated. It makes the corrosion potential of sample shift positively about 156 mV and corrosion current density is nearly an order of magnitude less than that of the untreated sample. The thermodynamic analysis shows that the corrosion resistance of PA coatings is affected by not only the concentration of PA ion and Mg2+ but also the release rate of hydrogen.

文摘The Fe78Si9B13 glassy ribbons were compressed at room temperature with different pressures. The non-monotonic change of corrosion resistance is consistent with the result of electrical resistivity, which can be explained by the combining action of free volume that is introduced by the compression and the segregation of Si atoms in the samples.

文摘In order to study the new anode materials for zinc electrowinning,Al/Pb?0.2%Ag rolled alloy was produced by composite casting and hot rolling. Then the effect of cooling ways on properties of Al/Pb?0.2%Ag rolled alloy was investigated. As the results of metallographic test indicated, with the increasing of cooling intensity, both Vickers hardness and yield strength of Al/Pb?0.2%Ag rolled alloy increase.Furthermore, the Al/Pb?0.2%Ag rolled alloy, cooled by ice salt, presents the finest grain size and shows the lowest oxygen evolution potential(1.5902V),while that of alloy cooled by water and air are1.6143V and1.6288V,respectively.However,the corrosion current density and corrosion rate of the Al/Pb?0.2%Ag rolled alloy, cooled by ice salt, are the highest. This can be attributed to its largest specific surface area, which promotes the contact between the anode and electrolyte.

文摘b The discharge performance of Mg-Al-Pb-La anode was investigated by electrochemical techniques and compared withthat of Mg-Al-Pb alloy. Furthermore, the dissolution mechanism of Mg-Al-Pb-La anode during the dischargeprocess was analyzed.
文摘The effects of applying an electromagnetic interaction of low intensity (EMILI) on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of 7075-T651 Al alloy plates (13 mm in thickness) during modified indirect electric arc (MIEA) welding were investigated. Thus, EMILI along with the MIEA technique may lead to welded joints with better microstructural characteristics, improved mechanical properties in the HAZ and reduced electrochemical activity.
