Recently, an increased interest can be observed in the characterization of these natural substances in order to have a better control on their action in health protection. However, due to the complexity of their chemical composition, it is in most cases very difficult or even impossible to identify all the potentially active substances. Hence, usually only a very reduced number of the active components are determined, which does not always allow to evaluate the inherent quality of the products. Therefore, this lack of characterization possibilities is a strongly limiting factor towards their more general application.展开更多
