This study uses the original text of T’ANG-YIN-PI-SHIH and Dutch sinologist Robert Hans van Gulik’s English translation version as research material, and build its own Chinese-English parallel corpus, focusing on the translation of judgment resources in the corpus. The study explores how translators intervene and coordinate linguistic resources which express judgments in different cultural contexts, aiming to advance studies on the English translation of Chinese legal classics and facilitate the global sharing and recognition of China’s excellent culture. The study finds that in the original text of T’ANG-YIN-PI-SHIH, propriety resources account for the largest proportion, while the English translation accurately reflects most of judgment meanings, retains the appraisal scales of the original text, and achieves a basic equivalence in appraisal meaning.展开更多

This article takes the English translation of Wang Feng Shu Li by James Legge as an example and selects the main imagery words as the object of study to explore the language differences and translation strategies reflected in the translation, to a certain extent helping readers overcome the obstacles in translating imagery words between English and Chinese and better grasp the characteristics of the two languages. Thus, this provides some strategic choices for translating imagery words in poetry.展开更多
