The outstanding overseas effect of its English version is inseparable from Xu Yuanchong’s research on the translation of ancient Chinese poetry. The agriculture-oriented culture of Qilu (Shandong province in east China) is rooted in its long farming experience and local flavor, which is embodied in Qifeng and Lu song (two chapters in The Book of Songs). Taking Xu Yuanchong’s English version of The Book of Songs as the object, this paper studies the translation and dissertation of Qilu farming poetry from the perspective of reception aesthetics theory, and demonstrates its applicability to poetry translation from the “horizon of expectation” and “calling structure”, so as to develop translation strategies conducive to revive the beauty of traditional farming. This will provide a new perspective for the external communication of regional culture, improve the translation quality and reader acceptance of farming poetry, and create a Qilu model of cultural communication to enhance the soft power of Chinese culture.展开更多
