Methods: Eighty patients with vertebral-artery type cervical spondylosis were randomly divided into nape acupuncture group and Jiaji acupuncture group, with 40 cases in each group. The patients in the nape acupuncture group were treated with the nape acupuncture plus Jiaji acupuncture, while the patients in the Jiaji group were treated with Jiaji acupuncture only, to observe the functional scale before and after treatment. Results: The total effective rate in the nape acupuncture group was 95.0%, while the total effective rate in the Jiaji acupuncture group was 82.5%. By Ridit analysis, u=5.186, P〈0.01. It indicated that the therapeutic effect in the nape acupuncture group was better than that in the Jiaji acupuncture group. Compared with Jiaji acupuncture group, the difference value of pre- and post-treatment about functional scale of vertebral-artery type cervical spondylosis and the post-treatment score have statistic differences (P〈0.01). It indicated that the therapeutic effect of nape acupuncture group was more obvious in treating vertigo than that in the Jiaji acupuncture group. Conclusion: The treatment of vertebral-artery type cervical spondylosis by Jiaji acupuncture plus the nape acupuncture may enhance the therapeutic effect significantly.展开更多

Methods: A treatment group of 121 patients was treated with acupuncture under an individualized plan based on the condition of disease. For a control study, 118 patients were treated with conventional acupuncture. The courses of treatment and the curative effects were compared. Results: The cure and marked efficacy rate was 90.9% in the treatment group and 69.5% in the control group. There was a significant difference (P〈0.01). There was also a significant difference in the cure and marked efficacy rate in each courses of treatment between the two groups (P〈0.01). Conclusion: Individualized acupuncture treatment is better in the effect and shorter in the courses than conventional acupuncture treatment for peripheral facial paralysis.展开更多

Methods: 60 Cases of the patients with post-stroke depression were selected and divided randomly into the two groups, 30 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated by scalp acupuncture plus body acupuncture, and the control group was treated by oral administration of Fluoxetine. The therapeutic effects were assessed after 30 d of the treatments. Results: The total effective rate was 90.0% in the treatment group, with average effective time of 5 d, and was 80.0% in the control group, with average effective time of 15 d. The comparison of the total effective rates between the two groups was not significant statistically (P〉0.05). But the comparison of the average effective time was significant statistically (P〈0.05). Conclusion: The therapeutic effect is positive in the treatment of post-stroke depression by scalp acupuncture plus body acupuncture, similar to the therapeutic effect of Fluoxetine, but faster in the effective time.展开更多

Combined use of these two acupoints can harmonize yin and yang, regulate qi and blood, and balance ascending or descending. This paper attempts to study the effects of Si Guan point on the vascular dilation and constriction in migraine patients from the perspective of its feature.展开更多

The LIDH pathological model of rabbit was established using the self-made LIDH model maker. The thigmesthesia and gait function of rabbits were recorded by Siegal method. The serum IgG and IgM expression levels were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: EA at Huantiao (GB 30) and Weizhong (BL 40) could improve the clinical symptoms of thigmesthesia and gait function, and inhibit the expressions of serum IgG and IgM in the LIDH rabbits, which were significantly different compared with those in the model group and EA at non-acupoint group. Conclusion: EA at Huantiao (GB 30) and Weizhong (BL 40) can improve the clinical symptoms of LIDH rabbits, which is associated with inhibition of the serum IgG and IgM expressions and reduction of the immunoinflammatory factor release. This may be one of the mechanisms of EA at Huantiao (GB 301 and Weizhong[BL 407 in the treatment of LIDH.展开更多

Methods: Thirty-one cases of allergic rhinitis were treated by acupuncture and moving cupping, twice a week; five treatments made up one course and two-course treatments were given. Result: Sixteen cases were cured, 14 cases improved and 1 case failed. Conclusion: Acupuncture plus cupping has positive effects on allergic rhinitis.展开更多

Methods: Sixty patients were randomly allocated into observation and control groups, 30 cases each. The observation group was treated with Western drugs plus acupuncture at Tiantu (CV 22) and other three acupoints around Lianquan (CV 23) and the control group with simple Western drugs. Results: The effective rate was 86.7% in the observation group and 30.0% in the control group. Methods: Forty-seven patients were randomly assigned to acupuncture and acupuncture plus medicine groups, 23 cases in the acupuncture group and 24 cases in the acupuncture plus medicine group. The observed course of treatment was 3 months. A Chinese concise SF 36 questionnaire was used to evaluate the quality of life in the different groups of patients before and after treatment. Meanwhile, radioimmunoassay was used to observe the differences in serum genital hormones: follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and estradiol (E2) contents between pretreatment and posttreatment in both groups. Results: After treatment, there was a significant difference in quality of life between the two groups and it was better in the acupuncture plus medicine group than in the acupuncture group(P〈 0.01). E2 content increased more markedly in the acupuncture plus medicine group than in the acupuncture group(P〈 0.05). There were no significant differences in FSH and LH contents between the two groups(P 〉 0. 05). Conclusion. Both acupuncture and acupuncture plus medicine can improve the quality of life and increase obviously low E2 content in postmenopausal women. Acupuncture plus medicine raises the patients' quality of life and E2 content more markedly than acupuncture. It is suggested that both acupuncture and acupuncture plus medicine can improve the symptoms, signs, and physical and mental health, raise the quality of life and ameliorate genital-endocrine environment in postmenopausal women, but a combination of acupuncture and medicine has a better effect.展开更多
