A new species in the genus Saxetophilus Umnov(Orthoptera:Arcypteridae) from Qinghai,China

Abstract： In this present paper, one new species in the genus Saxetophilus Umnov from Qinghai Province, Saxetophilus qinghaiensis sp. nov., is described. This new species is allied to Saxetophilus gansuensis Wang et al., 2006 and Saxetophilus mistshenkoi Naumovitsh, 1988. It differs from both of them in： l） widest between lateral keels of pronotum by 3.30-3.75 times （~） or 3.00-3.60 times （~） length of median keel in metazona; and 2） interspace of mesosternal lobes wider than that of lateral lobes. Type specimens are at the Institute of Zoology, Shaanxi Normal University.

A new species in the genus Chorthippus Fieber,1852(Orthoptera:Arcypteridae) from Sichuan Province

A new species, Chorthippus （Altichorthippus） choui sp. nov. from Sichuan Province in China, is described in this paper. The new species is similar to Chorthippus （Altichorthippus） changtunensis Yin, 1984, but it differs from the latter by： hind femur and tibia orange red, abdomen of male orange red at end and medial area of tegmen is 1.2 times cubital area. The new species is also similar to Ch. （Altichorthippus） tibetanus Uvarov, 1935, but differs from the latter by the lateral carinae of pronotum obvious and angulated in prozona, anterior and posterior transverse carinae not obliterated.

A New Species of the Genus Chorthippus (Orthoptera: Arcypteridae) from North of Shaanxi, China

In this paper, a new species of the genus Chorthippus is described from North of Shaanxi Province, China, namely： Chorthippus wuqiensis sp. nov. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Shaanxi Normal University.

A new species in the genus Chorthippus(Orthoptera:Arcypteridae) from western Xinjiang,China

In this paper, a new species of Chorthippus xinyuanensis sp. nov. （Orthoptera： Arcypteridae） is described from Xinyuan County, west of Xinjiang, China. The new species is allied to Ch. foveatus Xia et Jin, 1982 and Ch. longicornis （Latreille）, 1804. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Shaanxi Normal University.

A new species in the subgenus Chorthippus(Altichorthippus)(Orthoptera:Arcypteridae) from Xinjiang,China

A new species Chorthippus （Altichorthippus） guozigouensis sp. nov. is described from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. The new species is similar to Ch. （Altichorthippus） charpini Chang, 1939 and Ch. （Altiehorthippus）jishishanensis Zheng ＆ Xie, 2000, but males differ from both as follows.. length of fastigial foveolae about 3.00 times its width; antennae just not reaching the base of hind femur; apex of elytron extending to the posterior margin of seventh abdominal tergum; widest of costal area 0.67 times widest medial area; apex of hind wing extending to the middle of seventh abdominal tergum; anterior and posterior cubitus connate, cubital area obliterated; cercus reaching middle of epiproct; knee lobe brownish, not black; basal part of hind tibia brownish, not black. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Shaanxi Normal University.

A New Genus and a New Species of Grasshoppers from Jiangsu Province (Orthopters:Arcypteridae)

The paper reports a new genus of Arcypteridae i e. Suacris gen.nov.and a new species Suacris siyangensis sp.nov.The new genus is similar to Omocestus I Bol ,but differs from the latter in:① Lateral carinae slightly curved,widest 1 6-1 8 times greater than narrowest.② Cubital area wider than or equal to medial area.③Tympanum organ distinct,♂ widely oval,♀ crevice like.The new genus is also similar to Stenobothroides Xu et Zheng,but differs from the later in:①Lateral carinae obvious and curve.②Tergum of terminal abdomere without furcula.③Male subgenital plate long conica.Type specimens are deposited in Northwest Plateau Institute of Biology,the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

A new species in the genus Chorthippus(Orthoptera:Arcypteridae) from northwest of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China

Abstract： In this paper, a new species of Chorthippus wenquanensis sp. nov. （Orthoptera： Arcypteridae） is described from the Northwest of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. The new species is allied to C. rufitibialus Zheng, Ma ＆ Wang 1996. It differs from the latter in male as follows： longitudinal diameter of eye 1.8-1.9 times subocular furrow; widest of pronotum between lateral carinae 2.0 times narrowest; arolium between claws small, slightly not reaching half length of claws; basal part of hind tibia yellowish brown, not black; claws pale blue in basal part. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Shaanxi Normal University.

A new species and a new combination of Arcypteridae from China (Orthoptera: Acridoidea)

A new species, Chorthippus（Altichorthippus） qixingtaiensis sp. nov. from China is described in this paper. The new species is similar to C.（A.） changtunensis Yin, 1984, but different by： prozona longer than metazoan, maximum width of medial area of tegmen about 2 times as maximum width of cubital area in male, base of hind femur without dark sloping stripe on inner side and length of interspace of mesosterum shorter than minimum width in female. A new combination Magaulacobothrus tianshanensis（Zheng, Ma ＆ Ren, 2009） comb. nov. is reported. The type specimens are deposited in the College of Plant Protection, Shandong Agricultural University, Taian, Shandong, China.

Phylogenetic Reconstruction of the Family Acrypteridae (Orthoptera: Acridoidea) Based on Mitochondrial Cytochrome b Gene

Sequences from the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene （Cyt b） were determined for 25 species from the superfamily Acridoidae and the homologous sequences of 19 species of grasshoppers were downloaded from the GenBank data library. The purpose was to develop a molecular phylogeny of the Acrypteridae, and to interpret the phylogenetic position of the family within the superfamily Acridoidea. Phylogeny was reconstructed by Maximum-parsimony （MP） and Bayesian criteria using Yunnanites coriacea and Tagasta marginella as outgroups. The alignment length of the fragments was 384 bp after excluding ambiguous sites, including 167 parsimony informative sites. In the fragments, the percentages of A ＋ T and G ＋ C were 70.7% and 29.3%, respectively. The monophyly of Arcypteridae is not supported by phylogenetic trees. Within the Arcypteridae, neither Arcypterinae nor Ceracrinae is supported as a monophyletic group. The current genus Chorthippus is not a monophyletic group, and should be a polyphyletic group. The present results are significantly different from the classification scheme of Arcypteridae, which is based on morphology.
