The aim of this paper is to analyze volleyball practice in the beaches of Copacabana(Rio de Janeiro,Brazil)and Carcavelos and Cascais Bay(Cascais,Portugal)and to review the forms of appropriation of public space based...The aim of this paper is to analyze volleyball practice in the beaches of Copacabana(Rio de Janeiro,Brazil)and Carcavelos and Cascais Bay(Cascais,Portugal)and to review the forms of appropriation of public space based on public policies and rules of the sport in question.Our methodology rests on bibliographic review and ethnographic research to map and distinguish the results in two spatial and cultural contexts that are considerably diverse.Results show that even with greater extension of Copacabana beach in comparison with Cascais,volleyball has a relevant impact in both areas.The installation of the necessary equipment for volleyball practice is also a form of impact in the landscape and establishment of territoriality,which is mainly activated when the game happens.展开更多

Therefore, both the contemporaneous and la...It is suggested that the multiple samples in a correlation map or a set of correlation maps should be examined with significance tests as per the Bernoulli probability model. Therefore, both the contemporaneous and lag correlations of summertime precipitation R in any one of the three regions of Northern China (NC), the Changjiang-Huaihe River Valley (CHRV), and Southern China (SC) with the SSTA in the global domain have been tested in the present article, using our significance test method and the method proposed by Livezey and Chen (1983) respectively. Our results demonstrate that the contemporaneous correlations of sum- mer R in CHRV with the SSTA are larger than those in NC. Significant correlations of SSTA with CHRV R are found to be in some warm SST regions in the tropics, whereas those of SSTA with NC R, which are opposite in sign as compared to the SSTA-CHRVR correlations, are found to be in some regions where the mean SSTs are low. In comparison with the patterns of the contemporaneous correlations, the 1 to 12 month lag correlations between NC R and SSTA, and those between CHRV summer R and SSTA show similar patterns, including the magnitudes and signs, and the spatial distributions of the coefficients. However, the summer rainfall in SC is not well correlated with the SSTA, no matter how long the lag interval is. The results derived from the observations have set up a relationship frame connecting the precipitation anomalies in NC, CHRV, and SC with the SSTA in the global domain, which is critically useful for our understanding and predicting the climate variabilities in different parts of China. Both NC and CHRV summer R are connected with E1 Nifio events, showing a ‘- -'pattern in an E1 Nifio year and a‘+ +' pattern in the subsequent year. This study uses a spatial 3-stage least squares approach to model interstate banking of the United States in 1994 and 2014.The method simultaneously takes into account spatial dependence,outward and inward interstate ...This study uses a spatial 3-stage least squares approach to model interstate banking of the United States in 1994 and 2014.The method simultaneously takes into account spatial dependence,outward and inward interstate banking and their interaction,and the temporal effects in interstate banking.The study shows that a healthy economic structure,an expanding market,and permissive banking legislation encourage inward interstate banking.A healthy economic structure is a basis for strong banking firms to rise and to expand in other states.Large banking institutions were dominate in outward interstate banking while smaller firm sizes tend to be associated with inward interstate banking.By 2014,large and well-capitalized banking firms from states with a healthy economic structure had expanded into states with lower income levels,and lower capital-to-labor ratios,higher labor resource use,and lower profitability in their banking industry.Evidence shows some banking geographical fragmentation remains.展开更多

The consistency and asymptotic normality of the resulting estimators are established. In comparison with the ordinary/east squares ones, the proposed estimators are more efficient with smaller asymptotical variances. Some simulgtlon'studies and a real application are presented to demonstrate the finite sample performance of the proposed methods.
