A coupled model was constructed using soil physical theory, empirical equations and experimental data to predict the coupled transfer. The results show that transport of soil water was affected by temperature gradient, and the largest net water transport was found in the soil column with initial water content of 0.148 m3 m-3. At the same time, temperature changes with the transport of soil water was in a nonlinear shape as heat parameters were function of water content, and the changes of temperature were positively correlated with the net amount of water transported. Numerical modelling results show that the predicted values of temperature distribution were close to the observed values, while the predicted values of water content exhibited limited deviation at both ends of the soil column due to the slight temperature changes at both ends. It was indicated that the model proposed here was applicable.展开更多

Using the Laplace transformation method and transfer function to simplify and solve the coupled equations in Laplace domain, the moisture and temperature distribution in time domain are obtained by inverse Laplace transformation. The shrinkage deformations of concrete are numerically simulated by the finite element method (FEM) based on the obtained temperature and moisture distribution. This approach avoids the complex eigenvalues, coupling difficulty and low accuracy found in other solving methods, and also effectively calculates the moisture induced shrinkage which is almost impossible using familiar FEM software. The validity of the simulation procedure is verified by Hundt's test data. The results reveal that the proposed approach can be considered a reliable and efficient method to simulate the coupling moisture and temperature shrinkage of concrete.展开更多

In this study the coupled heat and mass transfer model for (CoupModel) the soil-plant-atmosphere-system is applied in high-altitude permafrost regions and to model hydrothermal transfer processes in freeze-thaw cycles. Measured meteorological forcing and soil and vegetation properties are used in the CoupModel for the period from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2012 at the Tanggula observation site in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. A 24-h time step is used in the model simulation. The results show that the simulated soil temperature and water content, as well as the frozen depth compare well with the measured data. The coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.97 for the mean soil temperature and 0.73 for the mean soil water content, respectively. The simulated soil heat flux at a depth of 0-20 cm is also consistent with the monitored data. An analysis is performed on the simulated hydrothermal transfer processes from the deep soil layer to the upper one during the freezing and thawing period. At the beginning of the freezing period, the water in the deep soil layer moves upward to the freezing front and releases heat during the freezing process. When the soil layer is completely frozen, there are no vertical water ex- changes between the soil layers, and the heat exchange process is controlled by the vertical soil temperature gradient. During the thaw- ing period, the downward heat process becomes more active due to increased incoming shortwave radiation at the ground surface. The melt water is quickly dissolved in the soil, and the soil water movement only changes in the shallow soil layer. Subsequently, the model was used to provide an evaluation of the potential response of the active layer to different scenarios of initial water content and climate warming at the Tanggula site. The results reveal that the soil water content and the organic layer provide protection against active layer deepening in summer, so climate warming will cause the permafrost active layer to become deeoer and permafrost degradation.展开更多

The method presented in this work is applicable to any type of coupling while for numerical calculations we have assumed the arbitrary coupling as Gaussian coupling. This arbitrary coupling is expressed as a collection of Dirac delta functions and by the use of the transfer matrix technique the transition probability from one diabatic potential to another diabatic potential is calculated. We examine our approach by considering the case of two constant potentials coupled by Gaussian coupling as an arbitrary coupling.展开更多

However, little work has been done on red soils, widespread in southern China. The simultaneous transfer of soil moisture and heat depends on soil physical properties and the climate conditions. Red soil is heavy clay and high content of free iron and aluminum oxide. The climate conditions are characterized by the clear four seasons and the serious seasonal drought. The great annual and diurnal air temperature differences result in significant fluctuation in soil temperature in top layer. The closed and evaporating columns experiments with red soil were conducted to simulate the coupled transfer of soil water and heat under the overlaying and opening fields’ conditions, and to analyze the effects of soil temperature gradient on the water transfer and the effects of initial soil water contents on the transfer of soil water and heat. The closed and evaporating columns were designed similarly with about 18 °C temperatures differences between the top and bottom boundary, except of the upper end closed or exposed to the air, respectively. Results showed that in the closed column, water moved towards the cold end driven by temperature gradient, while the transported water decreased with the increasing initial soil water content until the initial soil water content reached to field capacity equivalent, when almost no changes for the soil moisture profile. In the evaporating column, the net transport of soil water was simultaneously driven by evaporation and temperature gradients, and the drier soil was more influenced by temperature gradient than by evapo- ration. In drier soil, it took a longer time for the temperature to reach equilibrium, because of more net amount of transported water.展开更多

Based on the theory of nonisothermal water-heat coupled transfer, a simulation model, programmed in Visual Basic 6.0, was developed to predict the coupled transfer of water and heat in hilly red soil. A series of soil column experiments for soil water and heat transfer, including soil columns with closed and evaporating top ends, were used to test the simulation model. Results showed that in the closed columns, the temporal and spatial distribution of moisture and heat could be very well predicted by the model, while in the evaporating columns, the simulated soil water contents were somewhat different from the observed ones. In the heat flow equation by Taylor and Lary (1964), the effect of soil water evaporation on the heat flow is not involved, which may be the main reason for the differences between simulated and observed results. The predicted temperatures were not in agreement with the observed one with thermal conductivities calculated by de Vries and Wierenga equations, so that it is suggested that Kh, soil heat conductivity, be multiplied by 8.0 for the first 6.5 h and by 1.2 later on. Sensitivity analysis of soil water and heat coefficients showed that the saturated hydraulic conductivity, KS, and the water diffusivity, D(θ), had great effects on soil water transport; the variation of soil porosity led to the difference of soil thermal properties, and accordingly changed temperature redistribution, which would affect water redistribution.展开更多

The boundary conditions and the initial values are determined by in situ observations and numerical iterations. The simulation results indicate that the ultimate calculated steady heat transfer time is 68 years, and most of the heat transfer is completed in 20 years. The initial constant temperature soil surrounding the tunnels is transformed to an annually variable one.An obvious temperature-varying region of the surrounding soil is discovered within 5 m from the tunnel exterior, as well as within the entire range of soil between the two tunnels. The maximum temperature increase value reaches 7.14 ℃ and the maximum peak-to-valley value of annual temperature increase reaches 10 ℃.The temperature variation of soils surrounding tunnels below 10 m is completely controlled by the heat transfer from the tunnels. The coupled heat transfer effect is confirmed because the ultimate steady temperature of soil between the two tunnels is higher than the ones along other positions. Moreover, the regression model comprising a series of univariate functions is proposed for the annual soil temperature fluctuation estimation for the locations varied distances around the tunnel. This investigation is beneficial to gain an insight into the long-term variation tendencies of local engineering geological conditions of the river beach above shallow sections of the cross-river road tunnels.展开更多

We examine our approach by considering the case of two constant potentials coupled by Gaussian coupling as an arbitrary coupling.

文摘In this paper,we first establish a new fractional magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)coupled flow and heat transfer model for a generalized second-grade fluid. This coupled model consists of a fractional momentum equation and a heat conduction equation with a generalized form of Fourier law.The second-order fractional backward difference formula is applied to the temporal discretization and the Legendre spectral method is used for the spatial discretization. The fully discrete scheme is proved to be stable and convergent with an accuracy of O(τ^(2)+N-r),whereτis the time step-size and N is the polynomial degree. To reduce the memory requirements and computational cost,a fast method is developed, which is based on a globally uniform approximation of the trapezoidal rule for integrals on the real line. The strict convergence of the numerical scheme with this fast method is proved. We present the results of several numerical experiments to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Finally,we simulate the unsteady fractional MHD flow and heat transfer of the generalized second-grade fluid through a porous medium. The effects of the relevant parameters on the velocity and temperature are presented and analyzed in detail.

文摘A hybrid identification model based on multilayer artificial neural networks(ANNs) and particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm is developed to improve the simultaneous identification efficiency of thermal conductivity and effective absorption coefficient of semitransparent materials. For the direct model, the spherical harmonic method and the finite volume method are used to solve the coupled conduction-radiation heat transfer problem in an absorbing, emitting, and non-scattering 2D axisymmetric gray medium in the background of laser flash method. For the identification part, firstly, the temperature field and the incident radiation field in different positions are chosen as observables. Then,a traditional identification model based on PSO algorithm is established. Finally, multilayer ANNs are built to fit and replace the direct model in the traditional identification model to speed up the identification process. The results show that compared with the traditional identification model, the time cost of the hybrid identification model is reduced by about 1 000 times.Besides, the hybrid identification model remains a high level of accuracy even with measurement errors.

文摘The moisture performance of building envelopes largely depends on the building materials, construction tech-niques,and exposure loads from the indoor and outdoor regions.A ventilated air interlayer placed in a wall can help dehumidify the wall and indoor air. This paper presents an experimental study of the heat, air, and moisture variations within the envelope wall of a chamber featuring different air interlayer settings under real outdoor air conditions during the summer of 2020 in Shanghai,China.Self-developed humidity-controlling building mate-rials were applied to the inner building envelope.Temperature, humidity, wind velocity, and heat-flow sensors were placed at different positions in the middle of the wall. These parameters were measured and recorded in real-time under three working conditions:humidification, dehumidification, and ventilation. The experimental results show that under the ventilation working conditions, moisture content of 0.52 kg can be removed after a 2-h air layer ventilation, which can benefit the design strategy for the humidification and ventilation of dehu-midification walls.

文摘Studies on coupled transfer of soil moisture and heat have been widely carried out for decades. In drier soil, it took a longer time for the temperature to reach equilibrium, because of more net amount of transported water.
文摘By summing geophone and hydrophone data with opposite polarity responses to water layer reverberation, the ocean bottom cable dual-sensor acquisition technique can effectively eliminate reverberation, broaden the frequency bandwidth, and improve both the resolution and fidelity of the seismic data.It is thus widely used in industry. However,it is difficult to ensure good coupling of the geophones with the seabed because of the impact of ocean flow, seafloor topography, and field operations;therefore, geophone data are seriously affected by the transfer function of the geophone-seabed coupling system. As a result, geophone data frequently have low signal-to-noise ratios(S/N),which causes large differences in amplitude, frequency, and phases between geophone and hydrophone data that severely affect dual-sensor summation. In contrast, the hydrophone detects changes in brine pressure and has no coupling issues with the seabed;thus, hydrophone data always have good S/N.First,in this paper, the mathematical expression of the transfer function between geophone and seabed is presented.Second, the transfer function of the geophone-seabed is estimated using hydrophone data as reference traces, and finally, the coupling correction based on the estimated transfer function is implemented.Using this processing, the amplitude and phase differences between geophone and hydrophone data are removed, and the S/N of the geophone data are improved.Synthetic and real data examples then show that our method is feasible and practical.

文摘Simulation models of heat and water transport have not been rigorously tested for the red soils of southern China. Sensitivity analysis of soil water and heat coefficients showed that the saturated hydraulic conductivity, KS, and the water diffusivity, D(θ), had great effects on soil water transport; the variation of soil porosity led to the difference of soil thermal properties, and accordingly changed temperature redistribution, which would affect water redistribution.

文摘Considering the coupled heat transfer effect induced by parallel cross-river road tunnels, the long-term soil temperature variations of shallow sections of cross-river tunnels under the river beach are predicted using the finite difference method for numerical simulation. This investigation is beneficial to gain an insight into the long-term variation tendencies of local engineering geological conditions of the river beach above shallow sections of the cross-river road tunnels.

文摘The divergent behavior of C-H bond oxidations of aliphatic substrates compared to those of aromatic substrates shown in Gupta’s experiment was mechanistically studied herein by means of density functional theory calculations. Our calculations reveal that such difference is caused by different reaction mechanisms between two kinds of substrates(the aliphatic cyclohexane,2,3-dimethylbutane and the aromatic toluene, ethylbenzene and cumene). For the aliphatic substrates,C-H oxidation by the oxidant Fe^(V)(O)(TAML)is a hydrogen atom transfer process;whereas for the aromatic substrates,C-H oxidation is a proton-coupled electron transfer(PCET)process with a proton transfer character on the transition state, that is,a proton-coupled electron transfer process holding a proton transfer-like transition state(PCET(PT)).This difference is caused by the strongπ-πinteractions between the tetra-anionic TAML ring and the phenyl ring of the aromatic substrates, which has a“pull”effect to make the electron transfer from substrates to the Fe=O moiety inefficient.
