Hot torsion tests for AZ80 magnesium alloy were carried out in the temperature range of 380℃-260℃,with a constant decreasing temperature rate of 10℃/s in order to weaken the basal texture and refine the grains. The results indicated that the average grain sizes were refined forming gradient structure with increasing specimen radial position from center(12.2-5.4μm),and that the initial basal texture intensity of the extruded magnesium alloy was weakened from 46.2 to 8.3.Furthermore,the extension twins(ETs)could be disintegrated from the twins forming separated twins with smaller sizes.Interestingly,ETs with the same twin variant intersecting with each other could be coalesced forming grains with similar orientation, while ETs with different twin variants were separated by twins boundaries contributing to grain refinement. Moreover,in addition to the conventional continuous dynamic recrystallized(CDRX)grains with 30˚orientation rotated around C-axis of the parent grains,CDRXed grains with 30˚rotation around a-axis and random rotation axis were also discerned.Besides, the CDRX evolution induced twins were also elaborated, exhibiting the complex competition between CDRX and twining.Hot torsion deformation with constant decreasing temperatures rate is an effective way of grain refinement and texture modification. 展开更多

In this paper, the non-harmonic resonance of Bernoulli viscoelastic beams,Kirchhoff viscoelastic plates,Timoshenko viscoelastic beams, and Mindlin viscoelastic plates subjected to time-dependent exponentially decreasing transverse distributed load is investigated for the first time. The constitutive equations are expressed utilizing Boltzmann integral law with a constant bulk modulus. The displacement vector is approximated by employing the separation of variables method. The Laplace transformation is used to transfer equations from the time domain to the Laplace domain and vice versa. The novel point of the proposed method is to express, prove and calculate the critical time in which the displacement will be several times the displacement at time zero.In addition, this new method calculates the maximum deflection at the critical time, explicitly and exactly, without any need to follow the time-displacement curve with a low computational cost.Additionally, the proposed method introduces the critical range of time so that the responses are greater than the responses at time zero. 展开更多

In order to solve the multiple power extreme value point problem caused by system frequency splitting during wireless energy transmission at short distances a transmission model of the system is established. With the comprehensive consideration of the resonance frequency load parameters and the coupling between coils the internal factors of frequency splitting and boundary conditions are discussed. The results show that under the condition of the fixed load the higher the natural resonance frequency the easier the frequency splitting. As the frequency splitting occurs the frequency of the maximum power transfer is no longer with the natural resonance frequency which can make the system unstable and the transfer power more difficult to control. Therefore a decreasing-frequency method is proposed to avoid the system frequency splitting. And decreasing the system resonance frequency can make the system successfully withdraw the frequency splitting area at a short-distance range.Under the fixed load condition the transmission power of the system can be increased by 400% and the transmission efficiency is reduced by only 14% which greatly improves the transmission performance of the system. 展开更多

High temperature is an abiotic stress factor that threatens plant growth and development.Autophagy in response to heat stress involves the selective removal of heat-induced protein complexes.Previously,we showed that a crucial autophagy protein from apple,MdATG18a,has a positive effect on drought tolerance. In the present study,we treated transgenic apple(Malus domestica)plants overexpressing MdATG18a with high temperature and found that autophagy protected them from heat stress.Overexpression of MdATG18a in apple enhanced antioxidase activity and contributed to the production of increased beneficial antioxidants under heat stress.Transgenic apple plants exhibited higher photosynthetic capacity,as shown by the rate of CO_(2) assimilation, the maximum photochemical efficiency of photosystem II(PSII),the effective quantum yield, and the electron transport rates in photosystems I and II(PSI and PSII,respectively). We also detected elevated autophagic activity and reduced damage to chloroplasts in transgenic plants compared to WT plants. In addition, the transcriptional activities of several HSP genes were increased in transgenic apple plants. In summary,we propose that autophagy plays a critical role in basal thermotolerance in apple, primarily through a combination of enhanced antioxidant activity and reduced chloroplast damage. 展开更多

The authors examine the effects of external forcing agents such as greenhouse gases (GHGs) and aerosols, as well as solar variability and ozone, on global land monsoon precipitation by using a coupled climate model HadGEM1, which was developed by the Met Office Hadley Centre for Climate Research. The results indicate that HadGEM1 performs well in simulating the observed decreasing trend of global land monsoon precipitation over the past 50 years. This trend mainly occurred in the Northern Hemisphere and is significantly different from the trend of natural variability due to ocean-atmosphere-land interactions. The coherence between the simulation and the observations indicates that the specified external forcing agents, including GHGs and aerosols as well as solar variability and ozone, are important factors that have affected the decreasing trend of global land monsoon precipitation in the past 50 years. 展开更多

Changing precipitation in the densely populated Sichuan basin may have a great impact on human life. This study analyzes the change in summer precipitation since 1951 over the western Sichuan basin, one of the regions of the heaviest rainfall in China, by using two datasets provided by the Chinese Meteorological Data Center. The results indicate that summer (from June to September) precipitation over the western Sichuan basin shows a significantly decreasing trend. The summer precipitation over this region has decreased by about 20% since the 1950s, with a rate of decrease of about 40 mm per decade. 展开更多

Periodic solitons are studied in dispersion decreasing fibers with a cosine profile. The variable-coefficient nonlinear Schrrdinger equation, which can be used to describe the propagation of solitons, is investigated analytically. Analytic soli- ton solutions for this equation are derived with the Hirota's bilinear method. Using the soliton solutions, we obtain periodic solitons, and analyze the soliton characteristics. We study localized waves on continuous wave background in an exponential dispersion decreasing fiber with two orthogonal polarization states. We demonstrate that asymmetric W-shaped and M-shaped soliton pulse can be generated from a weak modulation on continuous wave background. The numerical simulation results indicate that the generated asymmetric soliton pulses are robust against small noise or perturbation. In particular, the asymmetric degree of the asymmetric soliton pulse can be effectively controlled by changing the relative frequency of the two components. This character can be used to generate other nonlinear localized waves, such as dark-antidark and antidark-dark soliton pulse pair, symmetric W-shaped and M-shaped soliton pulse. Furthermore, we find that the asymmetric soliton pulse possesses an asymmetric discontinuous spectrum. 展开更多

A chemosensitivity test for ovarian cancer using tritiated thymidine incorporation assay was carried out. A dose-response relationship for cisplatin and potentiation of verapamil in increasing vincristine inhibition to ovarian cancer were investigated. A 5- fold increase of cisplatin density converted the tumors which were initially resistance to standard-dose cisplatin Into drug-sensitive ones. Vera-pamil was found to be able to overcome vincristine-resistance of some tumors in vitro. These results suggest that using high dose cisplatin therapy or increasing local drug concentration by using other administration way, we could expect some ovarian cancers that had failed to standard dose cisplatin therapy to be effective. Combination of vincristine with verapamll may be helpful in treating some vincristineresistant cases. 展开更多

In the paper the problem on the assignment of the bounds of decreasing rate for a time-varying linear control system is discussed. The sufficient and necessary condition for bounds of decreasing rate of a time-varying linear system to be assigned arbitrarily is presented. It is pointed out that for any given real number m, M, m<M, there exists a linear state feedback with time-varying gain matrix which makes the corresponding closed-loop system possess M and m as its upper bound and lower bound of the decreasing rate respectively. For the purposes of its application to system design the concept of the asymptotic assignment of the bounds of decreasing rate is also proposed. The method dealing with the asymptotic assignment is given too. 展开更多

Human activities and climate changes are deemed to be two primary driving factors influencing the changes of hydrological processes, and quantitatively separating their influences on runoff changes will be of great significance to regional water resources planning and management. In this study, the impact of climate changes and human activities was initially qualitatively distinguished through a coupled water and energy budgets analysis, and then this effect was further separated by means of a quantitative estimation based on hydrological sensitivity analysis. The results show that: 1) precipitation, wind speed, potential evapotranspiration and runoff have a significantly decreasing trend, while temperature has a remarkably increasing tendency in the Weihe River Basin, China; 2) the major driving factor on runoff decrease in the 1970 s and 1990 s in the basin is climate changes compared with that in the baseline 1960 s, while that in the 1980 s and 2000 s is human activities. Compared with the results based on Variable Infiltration Capacity(VIC) model, the contributions calculated in this study have certain reliability. The results are of great significance to local water resources planning and management. 展开更多

Arctic sea ice is a keystone indicator of greenhouse-gas induced global climate change, which is expected to be amplified in the Arctic. Here we directly compare observed variations in arctic sea-ice extent and CO 2 since the beginning of the 20th century, identifying a strengthening linkage, such that in recent decades the rate of sea-ice decrease mirrors the increase in CO 2 , with r ~ -0.95 over the last four decades, thereby indicating that 90% (r 2 ~ 0.90) of the decreasing sea-ice extent is empirically "accounted for" by the increasing CO 2 in the atmosphere. The author presents an empirical relation between annual sea-ice extent and global atmospheric CO 2 concentrations, in which sea-ice reductions are linearly, inversely proportional to the magnitude of increase of CO 2 over the last few decades. This approximates sea-ice changes during the most recent four decades, with a proportionality constant of 0.030 million km 2 per ppmv CO 2 . When applied to future emission scenarios of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), this relationship results in substantially faster ice decreases up to 2050 than predicted by IPCC models. However, departures from this projection may arise from non-linear feedback effects and/or temporary natural variations on interannual timescales, such as the record minimum of sea-ice extent observed in September 2007. 展开更多

Robustness of deep neural networks(DNNs)has caused great concerns in the academic and industrial communities, especially in safety-critical domains.Instead of verifying whether the robustness property holds or not in certain neural networks, this paper focuses on training robust neural networks with respect to given perturbations.State-of-the-art training methods, interval bound propagation(IBP)and CROWN-IBP,perform well with respect to small perturbations, but their performance declines significantly in large perturbation cases, which is termed“drawdown risk”in this paper.Specifically, drawdown risk refers to the phenomenon that IBPfamily training methods cannot provide expected robust neural networks in larger perturbation cases,as in smaller perturbation cases. To alleviate the unexpected drawdown risk,we propose a global and monotonically decreasing robustness training strategy that takes multiple perturbations into account during each training epoch(global robustness training),and the corresponding robustness losses are combined with monotonically decreasing weights(monotonically decreasing robustness training). With experimental demonstrations, our presented strategy maintains performance on small perturbations and the drawdown risk on large perturbations is alleviated to a great extent. It is also noteworthy that our training method achieves higher model accuracy than the original training methods, which means that our presented training strategy gives more balanced consideration to robustness and accuracy. 展开更多

Experiments on grouting-reinforced rock mass specimens with different particle sizes and features were carried out in this study to examine the effects of grouting reinforcement on the load-bearing characteristics of fractured rock mass. The strength and deformation features of grouting-reinforced rock mass were analyzed under different loading manners;the energy evolution mechanism of grouting-reinforced rock mass specimens with different particle sizes and features was investigated;the energy dissipation ratio and post-peak stress decreasing rate were employed to evaluate the bearing stability of grouting-reinforced rock mass. The results show that the strength and ductility of granite-reinforced rock mass(GRM)under biaxial loading are higher than that of sandstone-reinforced rock mass(SRM)under uniaxial loading.Besides, the energy evolution characteristics of grouting-reinforced rock mass under uniaxial and biaxial loading mainly could be divided into early, middle, and late stages. In the early stage, total, elastic, and dissipation energies were quite small with flatter curves;in the middle stage, elastic energy increased rapidly, whereas dissipation energy increased slowly;in the late stage, dissipation energy increased sharply. The energy dissipation ratio was used to represent the pre-peak plastic deformation.Under uniaxial loading, this ratio increased as the particle size increased and the pre-peak plastic deformation of grouting-reinforced rock mass became larger;under biaxial loading,it dropped as the particle size increased, and the pre-peak plastic deformation of grouting-reinforced rock mass became smaller. The post-peak stress decline rate A_(v) was used to assess the post-peak bearing performance of grouting-reinforced rock mass.Under uniaxial loading, parameter A_(v) exhibited reduction as the particle size kept increasing, and the ability of post-peak of grouting-reinforced rock mass to allow deformation development was greater, and the bearing capacity was greater;under biaxial loading,A_(v) increased with the particle size, and the ability of post-peak of grouting-reinforced rock mass to allow deformation development was low and the bearing capacity was reduced. The findings are considered instrumental in improving the stability of the roadway-surrounding rock by granite and sandstone grouting. 展开更多
