This research aimed to analyze the enhancement of competitiveness among fruit and vegetable export entrepreneurs,with the case study of the Su-ngai Kolok checkpoint in Narathiwat Province.This research focused on three objectives:(1)examining how competitiveness is enhanced through government support and the development of border trade zones,(2)studying the supply chain dynamics,including strategic factors and opportunities in agricultural product management,and(3)developing a model for border trade to strengthen exporters’capabilities.The research employed qualitative methods,with data collected from 25 informants through interviews and employed descriptive methods.The research results revealed that:(1)government agencies play a crucial role in improving competitiveness by developing border economic zones and trade policies;additionally,(2)the research highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships,network building,and efficient logistics along the value chain;(3)the proposed Border Trade Model includes elements for instance government policy,partnerships,entrepreneurial potential,and transportation channels,aiming to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of vegetable and fruit exporters in the region. 展开更多

This paper explores entrepreneurial leadership, market orientation, and firm performance. It sorts to ascertain through the literature whether entrepreneurial leadership has an influence on market orientation decision and firm performance. The review points to the fact that entrepreneurial leadership creates visionary scenarios which they used to assemble and mobilize a “supporting cast” of participants who become committed to the vision and the discovery of strategic value creation by influencing market orientation decision and thus enhancing firm performance. The study thus developed a process model as a result of the literature reviewed. The study concludes that, entrepreneurial leadership influences the market orientation decision of a firm with the help of the “supporting cast” and this helps the firm to increase its performance. 展开更多

Therefore,it is of utmost importance to analyze the relation between reading behavior and entrepreneurial performance. Based on the survey data of 200 enterprises in one- hour economic circle of Chongqing,this paper analyzed three dimensions of reading behavior of entrepreneurs: reading subjects,reading media,and reading environment. It analyzed the relation between these three indicators and entrepreneurial performance. It further divided entrepreneurial performance into survival performance and financial performance. Finally,it came up with following conclusions:( i) good reading exerts significantly positive effect on survival performance of entrepreneurial enterprises;( ii) suitable reading environment plays a positive role in financial performance of entrepreneurial enterprises. 展开更多

Assuming the perspective that to be an entrepreneur is basically an attitude towards life and the world, there proposed holistic, constructivist and experiential processes and strategies for entrepreneurship education. The "entrepreneur XXI", must be able to undertake a social function of change, so, an economical and social development more human, ethical and intelligent. Under this assumption, the "Tree Model for the Development of Entrepreneurial Competencies", that will be discussed globally in the second part of this article, suggests a dynamic and experiential approach ofentrepreneurship education based on the qualification of people's behaviour, self-esteem, competencies and experiences; a profile of key behavioural and performance competencies (root), experimental pedagogical procedures (trunk) and real results within group projects (fruits). Franchisees Can Claim to Be Entrepreneurially Skilled or Not Three-Pronged Perceptions

Entrepreneurial skills determine the success or failure of a business operator. Researchers in the field of franchising, however, believe that to succeed as a franchisee, a business operator does not have to have high entrepreneurial skill levels. This study, titled "Whether Franchisees Can Claim to be Entrepreneurially Skilled--Three-Pronged Perceptions", surveyed 32 franchisees, 45 experts, and 64 independent entrepreneurs. It hypothesized that: (1) Independent entrepreneurs have higher skill levels than franchisees; (2) independent entrepreneurs' performance is better than franchisees' due to the differences in skill levels. Each of the franchisees and independent entrepreneurs was asked to rate themselves on a Likert scale against a list of traits or characteristics believed to determine levels of entrepreneurship. The experts were requested to rank within the scale whether independent entrepreneurs excel in entrepreneurial skills at the expense of franchisees. Franchisees ranked themselves at 3.5, on average, while independent entrepreneurs ranked themselves at 4.2 in the scale 1-5, with 5 indicating highest skill. On this basis, Hypothesis 1 is proved correct, i.e. independent entrepreneurs have higher entrepreneurial skill levels and at least they perceive themselves so. Experts, with an average rating of 3.4 within the scale, also seem to agree that independent entrepreneurs excel in entrepreneurial skills at the expense of franchisees. Using sales revenue and sales per employee as measure of performance, the study established average sales for franchised units at P275,038, while those for independent entrepreneurs were P86,437. Sales per employee ranged between P6 118 and P23,170 for franchised units, and between P8,207 and P 14,281 for independent entrepreneurs. This leads to the rejection of hypothesis 2 (Note: P denotes Botswana Pula. P9,0253 = US$1 as at 09/09/14). Multivariate tests demonstrated, through Wilk's Lambda Test Statistic, that the profiles deviated significantly from parallelism. The study therefore concluded that while independent entrepreneurs are more skilled than franchisees, their performance is inferior to that of franchisees. This conclusion might persuade many countries to promote franchising as a strategy. 展开更多

Hypotheses are specified and empirically tested based on responses to a structured questionnaire on a sample of small and medium-sized enterprises from China. This aim of this study is to provide both theoretical and empirical insights on entrepreneurs’ motives and commitments in the hospitality and tourism industry in Nigeria, using simple descriptive statistics and complemented with interviews. The study adopted an exploratory research methodology to explore the phenomena of motives and commitment, using descriptive statistics, particularly mea, and standard deviation to present the extent of occurrences in the study subject. The study is based on a sample of 120 entrepreneurs who are owners of small restaurants in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The results show that entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry are mostly motivated by family related factors such as family tradition, family situation, family line of business, and family prestige. Societal factors are more prominent in the list than both personal and income, financial considerations. The least considered factor that motivates a business start-up is finance or income. The results also suggest that although, entrepreneurs are highly committed to starting and growing their own businesses and are willing to do anything that will help achieve this objective including significant personal sacrifices, they are however, not willing to compromise their family lives. 展开更多

Unemployment occurs because labor forces are not absorbed into employment. One way to reduce unemployment is to open their own employment or become entrepreneurs. In fact, the government of Indonesia has made some efforts to the growth of new entrepreneurs, for example, by providing funding for student entrepreneurship program to a number of universities in Indonesia. However, efforts by the government are useless if there is no intention in the individual itself, and there are five factors driving intention in entrepreneurship, which invest, creativity, market opportunity, autonomy, status. Meanwhile, some researchers have conducted research about factor which driving the entrepreneurial intention. The result of that research shows that the most encouraging factor is the creativity. However, creativity must be managed properly in order to give optimal results This article wants to analyze the management of creativity among entrepreneurs in order to give optimal results. The research was conducted among young entrepreneurs, which are still a college student or had graduated from college. The total informants for this research are five informants from three private universities/colleges. This research used interview to collect data. This study attempted to process qualitative data obtained from interviews with young entrepreneurs. The result of this research is all of the respondents use some techniques to maintain and enhance creativity, such as "allow you to creative", "think out of the box", and "be persistent". Discourse Analysis in Women Entrepreneurial Networks: A Review of the Literature

Over the past few years much has been written about the rapid spread of various types of firm networking, the area of women entrepreneurs' networks and small business entrepreneurship is still a challenging research field. This paper reviews literature addressing women business owners from the network perspective of understanding their contribution to the existing knowledge. The paper makes use of a discourse analysis to examine a selection of empirical research articles from 2000 to 2012 on women networks in entrepreneurship research in order to convey the key concept, main findings, key contribution, and the methodology. Moreover, it identifies in a broader literature the hegemonic statements with regard to women and networks in entrepreneurship and default of the existing research. Main findings based on the discourse analysis reveal six hegemonic statements; women businesses have higher discontinuance rates and one suggested reason for this problem is that women lack of networking, women have a less diverse network, women are disadvantaged compared to men and therefore cannot network effectively, women are more likely to network with men, women favor "strong ties" and women network size is small. Methodologically, the current status of research on networks and entrepreneurship validates that most of the knowledge is gained through cross-sectional surveys. Entrepreneurs may reveal their thoughts, their experience and reflections only if the relationship between the researcher and the researched is symmetrical. Qualitative approaches are suggested in order to "tap" the voice. Moreover, researcher hopes that the literature review on women entrepreneurial network will give some inspiration to researchers. 展开更多

By interviewing Hong Kong entrepreneurs, it has been found that the main source of entrepreneurial success in Hong Kong is of very complex origin. The Hong Kong's entrepreneurs seem to succeed, when they are able to blend the best qualities of the East and the West. Such pressures require effective leadership to lead, change, and improve enterprise performance in order to meet the demand for current and future business. Many of the new changes that are occurring in business today are transformational. They are driven by the environment and client need. The entrepreneur may not know the exact outcome at first, because it emerges throughout the process. It requires a fundamental change in their mindset and organizational culture, and requires continual course corrections to the change process. This research was conducted to help the aspiring entrepreneurs to develop and improve their leadership style. One hundred and fifty successful Bicolano entrepreneurs were surveyed and interviewed about their actual leadership styles and practices and this was the basis for developing a leadership program for aspiring or future entrepreneurs. This research was conducted to identify the emerging leadership style being practiced by successful entrepreneurs and the leadership behavior they frequently applied. Since, leadership style and behavior has a huge influence to the success of the entrepreneur's enterprise. One hundred and fifty (150) successful entrepreneurs was the respondent of this study and they were survey and interviewed about their actual leadership style and practices. The research design was qualitative-descriptive type of research with the use of the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire 5X (MLQ 5X) as the survey instrument to collect data regarding leadership styles of successful entrepreneurs. An interview guide questions was likewise utilized for validating the result of the study. An in-depth semi-structured interview was also conducted to 30 entrepreneurs from the 150 respondents. Findings of the study revealed that a successful entrepreneur exhibits a noticeably higher inclination toward transformational leadership and they consistently rated themselves higher in inspirational motivation for their leadership behavior. Therefore, the emerging leadership style of successful entrepreneurs is the transformational leadership and the leadership behavior that they frequently use is the inspirational motivation. Furthermore, the aimed of this study is to explore practices of transformational leadership behavior of successful entrepreneurs from entrepreneur's perspective. 展开更多
