Descripti...This paper studies the impact of handicrafts on the promotion of cultural and economic development for students of art education in higher education through handicrafts based on local customs and traditions. Descriptive, analytical, and experimental methods are used in this research. The results of the study are expected to benefit from the results of this study to provide planners handicrafts in the Ministry of Education. An effective strategy can affect the teaching and learning of handicrafts, the protection of its features and its presence and identity. The study sample consists of 45 students of the third level, batch 2012-2013, from the faculty of Education at the University of Khartoum, Republic of the Sudan. The researchers to prepare topics for handicrafts depend on the use of local materials and units which are derived from the environment and represent the Artistic heritage that is shown through handicrafts (pottery, ceramics, calligraphy, decoration, carpet weaving and textile, sewing, embroidery, sculpture and engraving on wood, metal works, and printing works). The researchers focuse that the students learn the value of handicrafts in terms of economic and method of production and take advantage of it to increase the income of the individual product. The results confLrms the existence of a difference in the quality and value of handicrafts for students in both groups: the experimental and control group, which confirms that the handcrafts lead to the promotion of cultural and economic development for students of art education in higher education. The researchers are recommended to consider of this topic as a main component which enables an area for further studies to develop different strategies in the field of handicrafts, for students to recognize the importance of the handicrafts value in terms of economic and method of production and take advantage of it to increase the income of the individual product.展开更多

Mexican handicrafts co...The purpose of this research is to study the perception of Chiapanecan handicrafts as an element of sustainable competitive advantage in the State of Chiapas, Mexico, mainly due to the tourism. Mexican handicrafts contribute to 20.3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the cultural sector, that is, 0.6% of the National GDP. This research is quantitative, descriptive, and transversal. The sample selection was made for convenience so certain criteria could be met. In total, 70 tourists were surveyed in the handicraft commerce area. For the data retrieval, an instrument with the “Sustainability SWOT” (sSWOT) was designed, which consists of eight dimensions (trends, environmental challenges, threats, opportunities, strengths, weaknesses, which to prioritize, and where to act). The instrument consists of 22 items with a single Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5 (1 = Null to 5 = Excellent). The study showed that 54.29% of the tourists who visit Chiapas perceive that handicrafts have a regular impact on the small producer’s quality of life, while the remaining 45.71% point out that the impact is greater.展开更多

There are several enablers to the innovation capability in the exisiting literature,but they all are considered with equal importance.Researchers believe ranking will advance the understanding of academicians and prac...There are several enablers to the innovation capability in the exisiting literature,but they all are considered with equal importance.Researchers believe ranking will advance the understanding of academicians and practitioners further.Hence,we started by recognizing the enablers from the available literature and exploring the possible causal relationship among them.A framework based on the causal relationship among the enablers is proposed.Grey DEMATEL(Decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory)has been used to establish this causal relationship.This study identifies nine of the fifteen enablers as causal factors.They are as follows:Knowledge Exploration,Ideation and Organizational Structure,Organizational Climate,Risk Taking Ability,Collaboration and Networking,Institutional Support,Rejuvenation and Upgrading,Leadership Practices,Technological Adaptation.Practitioners,academicians,and policymakers will have a better understanding of this causal relationship among enablers.Knowledge of these enablers will help in fostering a more conducive environment for escalating the process of innovation in the handicraft cluster.展开更多
As an important witness to the rural industry in the agricultural era,traditional handicraft villages have attracted renewed attention in the contemporary context of intangible cultural heritage protection.The dual ch...As an important witness to the rural industry in the agricultural era,traditional handicraft villages have attracted renewed attention in the contemporary context of intangible cultural heritage protection.The dual characteristics of their traditional cultural heritage and modern economic benefits make these villages an important carrier of the dynamic inheritance and development of the heritages under the background of rural revitalization.This paper takes a stonemason village of Xizhuang in Xinjiang County,Shanxi Province,as an example,and reveals the evolutionary characteristics of traditional handicraft villages in the process of transition from agricultural to industrial society from the“social-spatial”perspective.In the agricultural era,the kinship,production organization,and religious beliefs of traditional handicraft villages were closely linked under the blood relationship in a clan-based structure,forming a“social-spatial”trinity composed of“residence,production,and spirit.”In the industrial era,the development of handicraft economy results in the transformation of the“social-spatial”form of the settlement,the social structure shrank from clan control to nuclear family domination,the production space began to be stripped away from villages,the living space changed from gathered clan living to separated-family homes,and the spiritual place was transformed into public space.However,due to the inter-generational transmission of handicrafts based on blood relationship,the consanguinity community has always been the main carrier for the continuity of skills,and has become the stable foundation for maintaining the“social-spatial”form of the village.Therefore,the adaptive transition of traditional handicraft villages in the context of socio-economic transformation continues the interconnection among society,economy,and space,and presents a unique vitality and comparative stability.展开更多
