Along with the expression of the theoretical tool profile,the equation of the contact line between the cone screw and the tool is established based on the coordinate transformation theory and the space meshing theory,as well as the surface equation and the position relationship between the screw and the tool during processing. By solving the contact condition based on the method of numerical discretization analysis via MATLAB,the contact line trajectory and theoretical tool profile curve are derived.The feasibility of the proposed method is verified by an example of tool profile design for machining the screw.展开更多

The addition of B to explosives and propellants ...Metal additives play an essential role in explosive and propellant formulations. Boron(B) is widely used in propellant applications owing to its high energetic content. The addition of B to explosives and propellants increases their energy density, making them more efficient and powerful. Nevertheless, B forms oxide layers on its surface during combustion, slowing down the combustion rate and reducing rocket motor efficiency. To overcome this issue, other metal additives such as aluminum(Al), magnesium(Mg),and titanium(Ti) are revealed to be effective in boosting the combustion rate of propellants. These additives may improve the combustion rate and therefore enhance the rocket motor’s performance. The present study focused on preparing and investigating the ignition and combustion behavior of pure hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)-B fuel supplemented with nano-titanium and nanomagnesium. The burn rates of HTPB-B fuel samples were evaluated on the opposed flow burner(OFB)under a gaseous oxygen oxidizer, for which the mass flux ranges from 22 kg/(m^(2)·s) to 86 kg/(m^(2)·s). The addition of Ti and Mg exhibited higher regression rates, which were attributed to the improved oxidation reaction of B due to the synergetic metal combustion effect. The possible combustion/oxidation reaction mechanism of B-Mg and B-Ti by heating the fuel samples at 900℃ and 1100℃ was also examined in a Nabertherm burnout furnace under an oxygen atmosphere. The post-combustion products were collected and further subjected to X-ray diffraction(XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) analyses to inspect the combustion behavior of B-Ti and B-Mg. It has been observed that the B oxide layer at the interface between B-Ti(B-Mg) is removed at lower temperatures, hence facilitating oxygen transfer from the surroundings to the core B. Additionally, Ti and Mg decreased the ignition delay time of B, which improved its combustion performance.展开更多

A set of laboratory experiments are carried out to investigate the effect of following/opposing currents on wave attenuation.Rigid vegetation canopies with aligned and staggered configurations were tested under the co...A set of laboratory experiments are carried out to investigate the effect of following/opposing currents on wave attenuation.Rigid vegetation canopies with aligned and staggered configurations were tested under the condition of various regular wave heights and current velocities,with the constant water depth being 0.60 m to create the desired submerged scenarios.Results show that the vegetation-induced wave dissipation is enhanced with the increasing incident wave height.A larger velocity magnititude leads to a greater wave height attenuation for both following and opposing current conditions.Moreover,there is a strong positive linear correlation between the damping coefficientβand the relative wave height H_(0)/h,especially for pure wave conditions.For the velocity profile,the distributions of U_(min)and U_(max)show different patterns under combined wave and current.The time-averaged turbulent kinetic energy(TKE)vary little under pure wave and U_(c)=±0.05 m/s conditions.With the increase of flow velocity amplitude,the time-averaged TKE shows a particularly pronounced increase trend at the top of the canopy.The vegetation drag coefficients are obtained by a calibration approach.The empirical relations of drag coefficient with Reynolds and Keulegane-Carpenter numbers are proposed to further understand the wave-current-vegetation interaction mechanism.展开更多
Fluidized bed opposed jet mills are capable of meeting the continuously growing dema nd for contamination-free fine particles.In this type of jet mill,the solid material is entrained and accelerated by expanding gas j...Fluidized bed opposed jet mills are capable of meeting the continuously growing dema nd for contamination-free fine particles.In this type of jet mill,the solid material is entrained and accelerated by expanding gas jets that are focused onto a focal point in side a fluidized bed.The resulting particle collisions induce breakage.The process is affected by the relative particle velocities and the number of particle-particle collisions.Clearly,both quantities are distributed.However,to date,neither relative particle velocities nor collision frequencies in such units have been determined.The present work introduces an innovative method to assess the stressing conditions in jet mills experimentally.To this end,mixtures of glass and ductile metal microspheres were used,with the latter employed in small amounts.Inter-particle collisions between the aluminum and glass spheres lead to the formation of dents on the microparticles.The size and number of these dents are associated with the individual collision velocities and overall collision frequencies.The correlation between dent size and collision velocity was obtained from finite element calculations based on empirical data.The proposed approach was validated using particle image velocimetry during secondary gas injection into a fluidized bed reactor.In this case the effect of the distance between two opposed nozzles was examined.For a lab-scaled fluidized bed opposed jet mill the effects of gas pressure and hold-up were investigated.Relative particle velocities were found to be sign ificantly lower tha n the gas velocities,while the nu mber of contacts per particle was determined to be extremely high.展开更多
