The exact analytic solution of a Mode Ⅲ Griffith crack in the material was obtained by using the Fourier transform and dual integral equations theory, and so the displacement and stress fields, the stress intensity factor and strain energy release rate were determined. The results show that the stress intensity factor is independent of material constants, and the strain energy release rate is dependent on all material constants. These provide important information for studying the deformation and fracture of the new solid material.展开更多

According to the biorthogonal eigenfunction system of the linearized Navier-Stokes equations and the adjoint equations, the decomposition of the direct numerical simulation results into the discrete normal mode is easily realized. The decomposition coefficients can be solved by doing the inner product between the numerical results and the eigenfunctions of the adjoint equations. For the quadratic polynomial eigenvalue problem, the inner product operator is given in a simple form, and it is extended to an Nth-degree polynomial eigenvalue problem. The examples illustrate that the simplified mode decomposition is available to analyze direct numerical simulation results.展开更多

In principle, this model is a one-way model, and hence provides satisfactory accuracy for problems where the forward scattering dominates. At the same time, this model provides an efficiency gain of an order of magnitude or more over two-way coupled-mode models. This model can be applied to three-dimensional range-dependent problems with a slowly varying bathymetry or internal waves. A numerical example of the latter is demonstrated in this work. Comparisons of both accuracy and efficiency between the present model and a benchmark model are also provided.展开更多
Without applying any stable element techniques in the mixed methods, two simple generalized mixed element(GME) formulations were derived by combining the minimum potential energy principle and Hellinger–Reissner(H–R...Without applying any stable element techniques in the mixed methods, two simple generalized mixed element(GME) formulations were derived by combining the minimum potential energy principle and Hellinger–Reissner(H–R) variational principle. The main features of the GME formulations are that the common C0-continuous polynomial shape functions for displacement methods are used to express both displacement and stress variables, and the coefficient matrix of these formulations is not only automatically symmetric but also invertible. Hence, the numerical results of the generalized mixed methods based on the GME formulations are stable. Displacement as well as stress results can be obtained directly from the algebraic system for finite element analysis after introducing stress and displacement boundary conditions simultaneously. Numerical examples show that displacement and stress results retain the same accuracy. The results of the noncompatible generalized mixed method proposed herein are more accurate than those of the standard noncompatible displacement method. The noncompatible generalized mixed element is less sensitive to element geometric distortions.展开更多

First, the damping ...A new matrix perturbation analysis method is presented for efficient approximate solution of the complex modal quadratic generalized eigenvalue problem of viscously damped linear vibration systems. First, the damping matrix is decomposed into the sum of a proportional-and a nonproportional-damping parts, and the solutions of the real modal eigenproblem with the proportional dampings are determined, which are a set of initial approximate solutions of the complex modal eigenproblem. Second, by taking the nonproportional-damping part as a small modification to the proportional one and using the matrix perturbation analysis method, a set of approximate solutions of the complex modal eigenvalue problem can be obtained analytically. The result is quite simple. The new method is applicable to the systems with viscous dampings-which do not deviate far away from the proportional-damping case. It is particularly important that the solution technique be also effective to the systems with heavy, but not over, dampings. The solution formulas of complex modal eigenvlaues and eigenvectors are derived up to second-order perturbation terms. The effectiveness of the perturbation algorithm is illustrated by an exemplar numerical problem with heavy dampings. In addition, the practicability of approximately estimating the complex modal eigenvalues, under the proportional-damping hypothesis, of damped vibration systems is discussed by several numerical examples.展开更多

Based on the ordinary array shape distortion, the directivity function of TLA is presented in this paper. An algorithm for precisely determning the coordinates of each element by means of the inverse elliptic function is derived. A fast approximation of recursive formula for solving distorted array shape is given. According to the comparison between ideal directivity and the directivity of distorted array, the criterion for making decision of operational mode of TLA sonar is presented. So that the performance prediction problem in TLA is solved. The results of system simulation in computer show a good agreement with the theoretical analysis.展开更多

In this method, a state trajectory starting from a given initial point reaches a definite point on a sliding surface in the minimum time, and then tends to the origin along the sliding surface (SS). In the first, a SS is designed, then using an appropriate measure, an embedding is constructed to solve a time optimal control problem such that the system trajectory reaches the SS in minimum time, after that a control is designed such that the system trajectory tends to the origin along the SS. It is well-known that the main disadvantage of the use of sliding mode controls (SMCs) is a phenomenon, the so-called chattering. The proposed SMC here is piecewise continuous and chattering free. Firstly, relations between optimal impulse control and Floquet modes are investigated. Method of generating modes is proposed. Characteristics of the mode coefficients stimulated at different time are also given. Studies show that coefficients of controlled modes can be classified into four types, and formation establishment and reeonfiguration can be achieved by multi-impulse control with the presented method of generating modes. Then, since libration points formation is generally unstable, mutli-modes keeping control method which can stabilize five Floquet modes simultaneously is proposed. Finally, simulation on formation establishment and reconfiguration are carried out by using method of generating modes and mutli-modes keeping control method. Results show that the proposed control method is effective and practical.展开更多
