Responsibility Distribution Between the Government and Society in Guaranteeing Basic Senior Care Services

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the task to ensure all elderly people enjoy basic senior care services.In an aging society,basic senior care services are key to protecting the basic human rights of the elderly.The government-society partnership is an ideal model to guarantee basic senior care services.In terms of responsibility distribution,the government and social organizations should follow the principle of subsidiarity.On the one hand,social organizations undertake the responsibility to provide basic senior care services under public constraints with regard to service prices,service content,and service targets;On the other hand,the government is the responsible guarantor for minimum senior care services and the prevention of risks.The government’s responsibility of guaranteeing minimum senior care services lies in the government taking over relevant projects after the occurrence of risks.Constrained by the principle of subsidiarity,the government’s responsibility for risk prevention shifts from ex-ante prevention to interim and ex-post prevention.Emphasis should be placed on the principle of the government and society assuming shared responsibilities for risk prevention and achieving risk prevention through government spending.

Investigation on the Characteristics of the Senior Citizens' Activities in the Parks and Greenbelts——A Case Study of Nanjing City

From the perspective of senior citizens,questionnaire survey and field investigation were carried on and analyzed in three parks in Nanjing City.The results showed that outdoor activities are the principal ways for the senior citizens to spend their time,the parks near home is their prior choice,and the radiation range of the park and greenbelt mostly is no more than 2 km;most of the senior citizens come to parks on foot and the parks are always within 30 minutes walking distance;the senior citizens always have fixed partners and groups for their exercise-dominant activities.

The Construction of English Teaching Mode in Senior High School Based on OBE Theory

OBE theory focuses on students’learning outcomes and application ability,which is consistent with the requirements of the new curriculum standard.The paper attempts to apply OBE theory to innovate the construction of English classroom teaching mode in senior high schools from aspects of teaching aims,teaching activities,teaching assessments and application activities.Results show that the application of OBE in high schools is beneficial to the development of English teaching and students'learning.

Investigation of English learning strategy employed by senior middle school students in Zhanjiang City： A comparison of students from urban and rural areas

After a review of learning strategy research in China and abroad, this paper made an investigation on the differences in use of learning strategies reported by urban and rural students from four middle schools in Zhanjiang city. The investigation revealed the following findings： urban students employ cognitive and social strategies more frequently than rural students; urban students reported a wider range of strategies compared with their rural peers; urban students of intermediate achievements employ more social strategies than their rural peers, while rural students use affective strategy significantly more often; urban and rural students reported different patterns of gender difference.

The seniority particle operator can be used to construct D-pair in the microscopic theory of interacting boson model to avoid the seniority mixing problem.

Improve the Oral English Teaching at Senior High

At senior high, the oral English class is usually ignored for some reasons, so it will be a main question for students tocommunicate successfully in English. Considering the present situation and teaching content at oral English class, we will talkabout and conclude the method and form of oral English teaching and practicing in terms of the senior high English teachers. It isexpected to inspire teachers to pay more attention to the oral teaching, to raise students' interest in oral English learning, which inturn achieve the goal of the senior English curriculum standards, in that one can state the opinion and exchange it with others whentalk about the common topic in daily life. Application of Task-based Approach in English Reading Classes in Senior Middle School

The traditional teaching approach is teacher-oriented,giving priority to grammar and lexical usage and neglecting the development of students’linguistic ability.The task-based approach is based on tasks and its prominent feature is"learning by doing and learning by using".By accomplishing tasks in target language,students can obtain linguistic knowledge and improve linguistic ability.This thesis is based on task-based approach,referring to English compulsory textbooks in senior middle school,exploring the application of task-based approach in intensive reading classes and providing case studies.

Injury patterns of seniors in traffic accidents: A technical and medical analysis

AIM:To investigate the actual injury situation of seniors in traffic accidents and to evaluate the different injury patterns.METHODS:Injury data,environmental circumstances and crash circumstances of accidents were collected shortly after the accident event at the scene.With these data,a technical and medical analysis was performed,including Injury Severity Score,Abbreviated Injury Scale and Maximum Abbreviated Injury Scale.The method of data collection is named the German InDepth Accident Study and can be seen as representative.RESULTS:A total of 4430 injured seniors in traffic accidents were evaluated.The incidence of sustaining severe injuries to extremities,head and maxillofacial region was significantly higher in the group of elderly people compared to a younger age(P<0.05).The number of accident-related injuries was higher in the group of seniors compared to other groups.CONCLUSION:Seniors are more likely to be involved in traffic injuries and to sustain serious to severe injuries compared to other groups.

Memory Training and Task Specificity in 90-99-Year-Old Seniors with Mild Cognitive Impairment

Managing memory deficits is a central problem among older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). This study examined the effects of memory training on memory performance in an understudied “oldest-old” population ranging in age from 90 to 99 years. Eighteen mild to moderately cognitive-impaired older seniors, 90 years and older were recruited from memory clinics established in senior living communities. Treatment sessions took place, on average, twice weekly, for 55 minutes. Memory intervention included nineteen computer-based exercises customized to focus on memory loss. The specificity of memory training was very clear;memory training produced significant effects (F(3,51) = 2.81, p = 0.05) on memory performance, especially after 6 months of training, while other outcome measures showed no effects as predicted. Based on the results, it can be concluded that interventions targeting cognition and memory in the oldest-old MCI population can significantly improve memory function and reduce cognitive deficits.

Increased physical activity, physician recommendation, and senior center participation

Physical activity is a recognized preventive health measure for seniors and an important focus for senior centers. This paper employs the Andersen Behavioral Model to explore increased physical activity and participation in three types of senior center activities: physical fitness, dance/aerobic classes, and chair exercises. Data were collected in 2006 on 798 and in 2007 on 742 participants at 21 multipurpose senior centers in a large urban county. Logistic regression analysis (PROC RLOGIST in SAS-callable SUDAAN) was employed to predict increased physical activity, with modes of center participation in physical activity as mediating factors. Predisposing and enabling factors predicted both engaging in center-based exercise programs and increases in physical activity;but the strongest predictors of increases in physical activity were needed factors: physician recommendations to increase exercise and to lose weight. Implications are that both SCs and healthcare providers are important to promote physical activity in the older population.

The Correlation between Explicit Grammatical Knowledge,Implicit Grammatical Knowledge and Reading Comprehension Ability of Senior High School Students

The role of grammar in language teaching has always been the question that researchers debate.In recent years,grammar knowledge has been distinguished in the foreign language acquisition research,namely the implicit knowledge and the explicit knowledge(Dai Manchun 2005;Gu Qiyi 2005).As to the reaserch of implicit and explicit grammar knowledge as well as their measurement,it is easy to find that many scholars have studied the role of two different kinds of grammar knowledge in second language development.But the research on the role of implicit and explicit grammar knowledge in second language reading comprehension is too few,not to mention the research on the role of implicit and explicit grammar knowledge in English reading comprehension in the senior high school.The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between implicit and explicit grammatical knowledge and English reading comprehension ability of senior high school students.In addition,since the vocabulary is important to reading comprehension,this factor will also be considered in the study.

From an aging person to an elegant senior:a humanistic approach to viewing older adults

The continuing growth in the number of adults aged 60-plus has raised global alertness of population restructuring.This demographic change,on the one hand,reduces productivity and increases public expenditure due to aging,resulting in prejudice,bias,misrepresentation,and discrimination against them.On the other hand,it develops a specific consumer market segment and extends the availability and accessibility of the elderly through employment,volunteering,or grandparenting.This study argues against the stigmatization of this age group from a functional perspective that damages social cohesion.It advocates a humanistic view toward seniors to eradicate marginalization and promotes the manageability of the senior population.With the aid of advanced technology and health equity,senior adults can retain everyday competence for self-care with dignity,as well as gracefully attain physical and psychological health,autonomy,and well-being in their later life.All these considerations give medical and nursing professionals insight into how to take care of the elderly.

Developing a nomogram for predicting the depression of senior citizens living alone while focusing on perceived social support

BACKGROUND Although the number of senior citizens living alone is increasing,only a few studies have identified factors related to the depression characteristics of senior citizens living alone by using epidemiological survey data that can represent a population group.AIM To evaluate prediction performance by building models for predicting the depression of senior citizens living alone that included subjective social isolation and perceived social support as well as personal characteristics such as age and drinking.METHODS This study analyzed 1558 senior citizens(695 males and 863 females)who were 60 years or older and completed an epidemiological survey representing the South Korean population.Depression,an outcome variable,was measured using the short form of the Korean version CES-D(short form of CES-D).RESULTS The prevalence of depression among the senior citizens living alone was 7.7%.The results of multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the experience of suicidal urge over the past year,subjective satisfaction with help from neighbors,subjective loneliness,age,and self-esteem were significantly related to the depression of senior citizens living alone(P<0.05).The results of 10-fold cross validation showed that the area under the curve of the nomogram was 0.96,and the F1 score of it was 0.97.CONCLUSION It is necessary to strengthen the social network of senior citizens living alone with friends and neighbors based on the results of this study to protect them from depression.

Grammatical and Lexical Errors in Students＇ English Composition Writing： The Case of Three Senior High Schools （SHS） in the Central Region of Ghana

This is a qualitative study aimed at finding the lexical and grammatical errors students of three Senior High Schoolsin the Central Region of Ghana commit in their essay writing. The study also sought to examine the frequency ofthe errors and what can be done to improve the teaching of L2 （English） writing in the Senior High School. Thestudy used a corpus of essay writings of 150 second year students. The schools and the participants werepurposively selected. The data were analyzed using the content analysis approach. The study identified that thelexical errors in the students＇ writing were due to homophone problems and semantic lexical errors. Thegrammatical errors identified were agreement errors, tense errors, singular-plural （number） errors, prepositionalerrors, and article errors. The study also found that the most frequently committed grammatical error was tenseerrors followed by agreement errors. The implications of these findings to the teaching of English writing are thatteachers where possible should have understanding of both the L1 and L2 of the students and teachers shouldexplicitly teach for transfer, have adequate knowledge of how to identify students＇ writing errors, and use effectiveteaching strategies to improve students＇ English writing. Additionally, teachers should serve as models of usingappropriate English for students to emulate and also create a conducive classroom environment for students toparticipate in class activities. Lastly, teachers should create more opportunities for students to write.

New Curriculum-Based English Vocabulary Teaching Approaches For Senior High School

There have been some problems in both vocabulary teaching for teachers and vocabulary learning for students.In light of the new curriculum,this paper summarizes specific presenting methods,memory strategies and ways to revise and consolidate in vocabulary teaching,which may help senior high school teachers in vocabulary teaching.

A Survey of the Correlation between Language Anxiety and Senior High School Student's Oral English Performance

Language anxiety is a kind of apprehension occurs when student need to perform oral English.Many researchers agree that language anxiety is an important factor in English learning.This thesis is going to test 80 students from Bordertown high school,Hunan Province,to uncover the English learning situation of senior high school students,to survey the correlation between language anxiety and oral English performance,and to give inspiration for senior middle school English teaching.

Preliminary Exploration on English Reading Strategy of Senior Middle School

Reading for most people is the main means to gain knowledge and the importance of it has already been widely accepted.Also,it has been regarded as the most necessary foreign language skill in most countries' teaching syllabus of colleges and middle schools,which requires the learners to master it badly.So how to explore teaching theory of foreign language reading has become an important task for study of foreign language teaching methods.In this study,some reading theories and reading strategies provided can be helpful to developing senior middle school students' linguistic ability and improving their reading efficiency.

A Study on the Application of the Pictographic Memorizing Method in Senior High School English Vocabulary Teaching

In this paper, upon the pictographic theory and the behaviorist theory, based on Xiang's(2007) pictographic memorizing method, the author designs the corresponding procedure of the senior high school English vocabulary teaching. This research results show that, the application of the pictographic memorizing method in senior high school English vocabulary teaching is feasible and the teaching effect is relatively good.
