Male sterility is an important trait in rice for hybrid rice(Oryza sativa)breeding. However, the factors involved in dominant male sterility are largely unknown. Here,we identified a gene from Sanming dominant genic male sterile rice, named Sanming dominant male sterility(SMS),and reported that an epi-allele of this locus contributes to male sterility.Segregation analysis attributed dominant male sterility to a single locus,SMS,which we characterized using a male-sterile near isogenic line(NIL)of rice cultivar 93-11.The SMS locus was heterozygous in the male-sterile 93-11 NIL,containing an epi-allele identical to that in 93-11,and an epi-allele identical to that in rice cultivar Nipponbare, which we refer to as SMS9 and SMSN,respectively.SMS9is silent and hyper-methylated,whereas SMSNis expressed and hypo-methylated in the 93-11 NIL.Overexpressing SMSNled to male sterility.Mutations in SMS rescued the male sterility of the 93-11 NIL.Interestingly,we observed the duplication of SMSN in Nipponbare, but did not observe the duplication of SMS9in 93-11.Together,these findings suggest that the reduced methylation and enhanced expression of the SMSNepi-allele in the 93-11 NIL is responsible for its role in conferring dominant male sterility. 展开更多

To study the effects of drug procurement under cap price policy (DPUCP)in Sanming, changes in drug category, price, availability and corporate structure were analyzed using purchasing data of the 7th and 8th centralized drug procurement in Fujian Province and the 1st drug procurement under cap price in Sanming, and a field investigation was conducted.(1)The amounts of bid-winning drugs and pharmaceutical makers decreased sharply, leading to optimization of drug category and supplier structure. (2)The procurement could meet clinical demands, though a small percentage of drugs were out of stock.(3)Drug prices fell in general, with 10%decline in domestic drugs with a unit package price over RMB 5yuan,a slight price reduction in imported drugs, and some price increase in cheap domestic drugs with a unit package price under RMB 3yuan.DPUCP policy in Sanming optimized procurement drug category and supplier structure, reduced price, and improved industrial structure. However, problems still existed, such as shortage of some drugs and little price reduction in imported and brand-name drugs. 展开更多

Sanming model in healthcare reform has attracted much attention due to its comprehensive and efficient exploration, while its impact on physicians’prescribing behavior remains unknown. In the present study,we aimed to evaluate the impact of Sanming reform on physicians’medicine use in county-level public hospitals. We collected outpatient prescriptions in the internal medicine and pediatric departments from nine county public hospitals in Sanming from January 2011 to December 2017.We used six prescribing indicators to analyze physicians’medicine use.The Mann-Kendall test was used to examine trends in the study outcomes.A total of 1577904 outpatient prescriptions were included in this study. The average prescription rate of antibiotics and combined antibiotics were 57.5%and 12.2%in 2011,respectively,which were declined to 28.2%(P=0.007)and 2.9%(P=0.003)in 2017,respectively.The average prescription rate of injection was 30.2%in 2011 and declined to 5.3%(P=0.003)in 2017.As for the subgroup analysis of the internal medicine and pediatric departments, the average prescription rate of antibiotics was 39.3%and 71.4%in 2011,respectively,which was declined to 10.2%(P=0.003)and 47.3%(P=0.035)in 2017,respectively.The average prescription rate of combined antibiotics was 15.9%and 9.4%in 2011,respectively,which was declined to 2.9%(P=0.003)and 2.9%(P=0.016),respectively.The average prescription rate of injection was 17.8%and 39.6%in 2011,respectively,which was declined to 1.9%(P=0.003)and 9.0%(P=0.003),respectively.Our study showed a significant decreasing trend in antibiotic use in county-level public hospitals after the Sanming healthcare reform, indicating that the reform successfully promoted the appropriate use of medicine to some extent. 展开更多
