In general, participants need to reinforce their opinions and influence other participants. In this context, it is important to know how allies and opponents are positioned, in order to understand the discussion dynamics and plan adequate actions. This paper suggests the use of social network visualizations to explicit oppositions and alliances in order to support the understanding and following of political discussions. A system which supports these visualizations was built. An experiment performed to test the proposed visualizations showed to which extent they can be more efficient in identifying information about clashes and alliances than an online discussion system can.展开更多

This paper takes it from here and looks at how factory nongmingong in China use social media to participate in rural politics, as well as the relationship between such use and political participation. We employ a processual approach to rural politics where rural politics is viewed as the interaction between individual participant and the structural forces, cultural or political, that comprise the current cultural nexus of power within the enlarged social landscape of rural politics. We will in this process examine the participation of their perception of rural politics, expression as well as action. By interviews and participant observation among nongmingong in this villa,ge, we demonstrated that their perception of the factory culture, the time limits imposed by the factory, and extant social networks on social media and the renting and mianzi principles attached to it are three important cultural forces shaping both their political use of social media and the observed political participation. The very affordance of friends and group chats offered by WeChat, when adopted by them, in our case, play a central role in this process.展开更多

Despite its historical and cultural significance, the role of hair, however, remains curiously a marginalized subject among the renewed interests on the body in the academic fields. In this paper, the author attempts to politicize the queue from 3 perspectives: maintaining a certain prescribed hairstyle is a top-down gesture to construct national conformity; the boundary between Manchu and Han is invoked and reinvented through the battles surrounding the queue politic in late Qing and early Republic; the widespread debate between keeping the queue and cutting the queue at the turn of the 20th century epitomizes the haunting rhetoric of traditionalism and modernism pursuit of modernity in China.展开更多

The rational brain and the empirical brain are from the thinking brain. This paper posits that in the evolution of political order, the main function of political order is to pacify changed social structure derived from technological revolution. Therefore, the four technological revolutions (the Upper Paleolithic, Agricultural-Bronze, Iron, and Industrial Revolutions) produce the four changed social structures (linked bands, tribe, mega empire, and modern nation, respectively) whose internal conflicts are pacified by the four political revolutions (the imaginative, hierarchical, thinking, bottom-up political revolutions, respectively) to form the four politics (the imaginative egalitarianism, decentralized hierarchical tribalism, centralized top-down thinking, and multilateral bottom-up thinking politics, respectively). In the competitive West originated from Greece and Middle East, the rule of law is the rational rule of competition among competitors, and the accountability of election is the empirical accountability of competition among competitors. In the cooperative East originated from India and China, the rule of relation is the rational rule of cooperation among kin-friends, and the accountability of professional qualification is the empirical accountability of cooperation among kin-friends. For political order, the two viable politics are competitive liberal democracy based on liberty and cooperative well-off democracy (well-off socialism) based on wellbeing. The direction of political order is middle democracy between liberal democracy and well-off democracy based on the multilateral bottom-up thinking politics.展开更多

For this analysis, we collected data from the pre-elections speeches of five political leaders from the 20th of September 2015 Greek general elections. We proceed to form, analyze and compare networks of words with an emphasis on financial vocabulary. Findings can provide interesting insights into how political leaders structure their speeches, evaluate important issues and use economic terms and political rhetoric, while different structural patterns can reveal the differences between political parties. Finally, we check whether the overall networks follow the general rules of real-life networks by belonging to the small-world or scale-free categories.展开更多

Social networks have increased their public influence, which contain videotaped speeches and presentations. Multimodality has become a characteristic feature of contemporary political virtual communication. Bulgarian politicians appreciate the Internet as a tool for building popularity in its wealth of features, forms, and modes. Communicative tools and techniques have changed. The forms of the Bulgarian political communication found in the virtual environment such as sites, blogs, social networks, video clips, virtual forums, etc. are heterogeneous. Bulgarian citizens accept the Internet as a tool for increased political and social activities. Civil oratory, which is seen as a mechanism for efficient organizing of public events during election campaigns, protests, and demonstrations, is also present in the social networks. The citizens use a combination of verbal and visual elements; they are bloggers and participants in virtual political forums and actively participate in the spread of all kinds of forms of the social networks. They take part in the street demonstrations and organize performances; they ridicule politicians through posters and cartoons published online. Verbal and visual messages of the citizens come to real life during the protests and to virtual life in the social networks. The polyphony of social networks is a manifestation of virtual civil communication where the citizens in their virtual projection as netizens build up a new complex model of communication.展开更多

The urbanization of migrant workers has become a major problem in the transformation of China' ssocial and economic structure, the core of the problem of the "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" and the focus of the community. Theacademic circles have done a lot of research on this issue. The equalization of basic public services is the right of every member of societyto share the fruits of social development. This right is the only way to realize the equalization of general public services. From the dynamicevolution, the equalization of basic public services is an indispensable process in the realization of fairness and the justice in society as a whole. Therefore, this paper proposes the novel idea on the issue that will later promote the development of the related theories and applications.展开更多

This paper examines John Rawls and Iris Marion Young's respective commitments to deliberative democracy in hopes of finding a methodological proposal for peace between followers of Rawls, the greatest liberal political philosopher of the 20th century, and Young, the late anti-liberal and anti-oppression theorist. While there are important differences between their respective positions, this paper posits that deliberative democracy can appease adherents of both thinkers, providing a shared method for determining conflicts between them. Liberal democracy is preferable, partly since it creates a place for anti-liberal positions (viz., Young's position can exist within the larger Rawlsian framework), but deliberative democracy can succeed even if one is not a liberal democrat.展开更多

文摘Among the few studies conducted on political participation in China, most, if not all, provided an urban-centric picture of participation with both Internet-based debate on certain topics or offline movement on a specific issue.Little attention is paid to the role social media use which might play in rural politics in China. The very affordance of friends and group chats offered by WeChat, when adopted by them, in our case, play a central role in this process.

文摘The paper proposes that the four-component structure of political order consists of state, imagination, rule, and accountability whose mental origins are the social brain, theory of mind, the rational brain, and the empirical brain, respectively. The direction of political order is middle democracy between liberal democracy and well-off democracy based on the multilateral bottom-up thinking politics.

Finally, we check whether the overall networks follow the general rules of real-life networks by belonging to the small-world or scale-free categories.

文摘Opinion Mining(OM)studies in Arabic are limited though it is one of the most extensively-spoken languages worldwide.Though the interest in OM studies in the Arabic language is growing among researchers,it needs a vast number of investigations due to the unique morphological principles of the language.Arabic OM studies experience multiple challenges owing to the poor existence of language sources and Arabic-specific linguistic features. The comparative OM studies in the English language are wide and novel. But,comparative OM studies in the Arabic language are yet to be established and are still in a nascent stage. The unique features of the Arabic language make it essential to expand the studies regarding the Arabic text.It contains unique featuressuchasdiacritics, elongation, inflectionandwordlength.Thecurrent study proposes a Political Optimizer with Probabilistic Neural Network-based Comparative Opinion Mining(POPNN-COM)model for the Arabic text. The proposed POPNN-COM model aims to recognize comparative and non-comparative texts in Arabic in the context of social media.Initially, the POPNN-COM model involves different levels of data pre-processing to transform the input data into a useful format. Then, the pre-processed data is fed into the PNN model for classification and recognition of the data under different class labels. At last, the PO algorithm is employed for fine-tuning the parameters involved in this model to achieve enhanced results. The proposed POPNN-COM model was experimentally validated using two standard datasets, and the outcomes established the promising performance of the proposed POPNN-COM method over other recent approaches.
文摘Social networks are the result of a couple of circumstances such as the current development of communication technology and the improvement of the opportunities for communication, access to new ideas, web-based information, electronic resources and database serving millions of people all over the world. The polyphony of social networks is a manifestation of virtual civil communication where the citizens in their virtual projection as netizens build up a new complex model of communication.

From the dynamicevolution, the equalization of basic public services is an indispensable process in the realization of fairness and the justice in society as a whole. Therefore, this paper proposes the novel idea on the issue that will later promote the development of the related theories and applications.
文摘Commitment to deliberative democracy as a tool for social and political ordering is shared by political philosophers from many traditions. Liberal democracy is preferable, partly since it creates a place for anti-liberal positions (viz., Young's position can exist within the larger Rawlsian framework), but deliberative democracy can succeed even if one is not a liberal democrat.
