文摘As critical conduits for the dissemination of online public opinion, social media platforms offer a timely and effective means for managing emergencies during major disasters, such as earthquakes. This study focuses on the analysis of online public opinions following the Maduo M7.4 earthquake in Qinghai Province and the Yangbi M6.4 earthquake in Yunnan Province.By collecting, cleaning, and organizing post-earthquake Sina Weibo(short for Weibo)data,we employed the Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA)model to extract information pertinent to public opinion on these earthquakes. This analysis included a comparison of the nature and temporal evolution of online public opinions related to both events. An emotion analysis, utilizing an emotion dictionary, categorized the emotional content of post-earthquake Weibo posts, facilitating a comparative study of the characteristics and temporal trends of online public emotions following the earthquakes. The findings were visualized using Geographic Information System(GIS)techniques. The analysis revealed certain commonalities in online public opinion following both earthquakes.Notably, the peak of online engagement occurred within the first 24 hours post-earthquake,with a rapid decline observed between 24 to 48 hours thereafter. The variation in popularity of online public opinion was linked to aftershock occurrences.Adjusted for population factors, online engagement in areas surrounding the earthquake sites and in Sichuan Province was significantly high.Initially dominated by feelings of“fear”and“surprise”,the public sentiment shifted towards a more positive outlook with the onset of rescue operations. However, distinctions in the online public response to each earthquake were also noted.Following the Yangbi earthquake,Yunnan Province reported the highest number of Weibo posts nationwide;in contrast,Qinghai Province ranked third post-Maduo earthquake, attributable to its smaller population size and extensive damage to communication infrastructure. This research offers a methodological approach for the analysis of online public opinion related to earthquakes, providing insights for the enhancement of post-disaster emergency management and public mental health support.

文摘How can we efficiently store and mine dynamically generated dense tensors for modeling the behavior of multidimensional dynamic data?Much of the multidimensional dynamic data in the real world is generated in the form of time-growing tensors. For example, air quality tensor data consists of multiple sensory values gathered from wide locations for a long time.Such data, accumulated over time,is redundant and consumes a lot ofmemory in its raw form.We need a way to efficiently store dynamically generated tensor data that increase over time and to model their behavior on demand between arbitrary time blocks. To this end,we propose a Block IncrementalDense Tucker Decomposition(BID-Tucker)method for efficient storage and on-demand modeling ofmultidimensional spatiotemporal data.Assuming that tensors come in unit blocks where only the time domain changes, our proposed BID-Tucker first slices the blocks into matrices and decomposes them via singular value decomposition(SVD).The SVDs of the time×space sliced matrices are stored instead of the raw tensor blocks to save space. When modeling from data is required at particular time blocks, the SVDs of corresponding time blocks are retrieved and incremented to be used for Tucker decomposition. The factor matrices and core tensor of the decomposed results can then be used for further data analysis. We compared our proposed BID-Tucker with D-Tucker,which our method extends, and vanilla Tucker decomposition. We show that our BID-Tucker is faster than both D-Tucker and vanilla Tucker decomposition and uses less memory for storage with a comparable reconstruction error. We applied our proposed BID-Tucker to model the spatial and temporal trends of air quality data collected in South Korea from 2018 to 2022.We were able to model the spatial and temporal air quality trends. We were also able to verify unusual events, such as chronic ozone alerts and large fire events.

文摘Spatial variability of soil properties imposes a challenge for practical analysis and design in geotechnical engineering. The latter is particularly true for slope stability assessment, where the effects of uncertainty are synthesized in the so-called probability of failure. This probability quantifies the reliability of a slope and its numerical calculation is usually quite involved from a numerical viewpoint. In view of this issue, this paper proposes an approach for failure probability assessment based on Latinized partially stratified sampling and maximum entropy distribution with fractional moments. The spatial variability of geotechnical properties is represented by means of random fields and the Karhunen-Loève expansion. Then, failure probabilities are estimated employing maximum entropy distribution with fractional moments. The application of the proposed approach is examined with two examples:a case study of an undrained slope and a case study of a slope with cross-correlated random fields of strength parameters under a drained slope. The results show that the proposed approach has excellent accuracy and high efficiency, and it can be applied straightforwardly to similar geotechnical engineering problems.

文摘The traditional deterministic analysis for tunnel face stability neglects the uncertainties of geotechnical parameters, while the simplified reliability analysis which models the potential uncertainties by means of random variables usually fails to account for soil spatial variability. To overcome these limitations, this study proposes an efficient framework for conducting reliability analysis and reliability-based design(RBD)of tunnel face stability in spatially variable soil strata. The three-dimensional(3D)rotational failure mechanism of the tunnel face is extended to account for the soil spatial variability, and a probabilistic framework is established by coupling the extended mechanism with the improved Hasofer-Lind-Rackwits-Fiessler recursive algorithm(iHLRF)as well as its inverse analysis formulation. The proposed framework allows for rapid and precise reliability analysis and RBD of tunnel face stability. To demonstrate the feasibility and efficacy of the proposed framework,an illustrative case of tunnelling in frictional soils is presented, where the soil's cohesion and friction angle are modelled as two anisotropic cross-correlated lognormal random fields. The results show that the proposed method can accurately estimate the failure probability(or reliability index)regarding the tunnel face stability and can efficiently determine the required supporting pressure for a target reliability index with soil spatial variability being taken into account.Furthermore, this study reveals the impact of various factors on the support pressure, including coefficient of variation,cross-correlation between cohesion and friction angle,as well as autocorrelation distance of spatially variable soil strata. The results also demonstrate the feasibility of using the forward and/or inverse first-order reliability method(FORM)in high-dimensional stochastic problems. It is hoped that this study may provide a practical and reliable framework for determining the stability of tunnels in complex soil strata.

文摘Population aging has become an inevitable trend and exerted profound influences on socio-economic development in China. In this study,we utilized data from national population census and statistical yearbooks in 2010 and 2020 to explore spatio-temporal patterns of aging population and its coupling correlations with socio-economic factors from both global and local perspectives. The results from Local Indicators of Spatial Association(LISA)uncover notable spatial disparities in aging population rates, with higher rates concentrated in the eastern regions and lower rates in the western areas of the Chinese mainland. The results from the global correlation analysis with the changes in aging population rates show significant positive correlations with government interventions and industrial structures, but negatively correlated with economic development, social consumption, and medical facilities. From a local perspective,a Geographically Weighted(GW)correlation analysis is employed to uncover local correlations between aging trends and socio-economic factors. The insights gained from this technique not only underscore the complexity and diversity of economic implications stemming from population aging, but also provide invaluable guidance for crafting region-specific economic policies tailored to various stages of population aging.

文摘To address the seismic face stability challenges encountered in urban and subsea tunnel construction,an efficient probabilistic analysis framework for shield tunnel faces under seismic conditions is proposed.Based on the upper-bound theory of limit analysis,an improved three-dimensional discrete deterministic mechanism, accounting for the heterogeneous nature of soil media,is formulated to evaluate seismic face stability. The metamodel of failure probabilistic assessments for seismic tunnel faces is constructed by integrating the sparse polynomial chaos expansion method(SPCE)with the modified pseudo-dynamic approach(MPD).The improved deterministic model is validated by comparing with published literature and numerical simulations results, and the SPCE-MPD metamodel is examined with the traditional MCS method.Based on the SPCE-MPD metamodels, the seismic effects on face failure probability and reliability index are presented and the global sensitivity analysis(GSA)is involved to reflect the influence order of seismic action parameters. Finally, the proposed approach is tested to be effective by a engineering case of the Chengdu outer ring tunnel. The results show that higher uncertainty of seismic response on face stability should be noticed in areas with intense earthquakes and variation of seismic wave velocity has the most profound influence on tunnel face stability.

文摘Aerospace optical cables and fiber-optic connectors have numerous advantages(e.g.,low loss, wide transmission frequency band, large capacity, light weight, and excellent resistance to electromagnetic interference). They can achieve optical communication interconnections and high-speed bidirectional data transmission between optical terminals and photodetectors in space, ensuring the stability and reliability of data transmission during spacecraft operations in orbit. They have become essential components in high-speed networking and optically interconnected communications for spacecrafts.Thermal stress simulation analysis is important for evaluating the temperature stress concentration phenomenon resulting from temperature fluctuations, temperature gradients, and other factors in aerospace optical cables and connectors under the combined effects of extreme temperatures and vacuum environments.Considering this, advanced optical communication technology has been widely used in high-speed railway communication networks to transmit safe, stable and reliable signals,as high-speed railway optical communication in special areas with extreme climates, such as cold and high-temperature regions, requires high-reliability optical cables and connectors. Therefore, based on the finite element method, comprehensive comparisons were made between the thermal distributions of aerospace optical cables and J599III fiber optic connectors under different conditions, providing a theoretical basis for evaluating the performance of aerospace optical cables and connectors in space environments and meanwhile building a technical foundation for potential optical communication applications in the field of high-speed railways.
