Lead-free low melting glasses,ZnO-CuO-Bi_(2)O_(3)-B_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)system,with fixed contents of 15 mol%CuO and 20 mol%Bi_(2)O_(3),were prepared by using melt cooling method.Structure and thermal properties of the gl...Lead-free low melting glasses,ZnO-CuO-Bi_(2)O_(3)-B_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)system,with fixed contents of 15 mol%CuO and 20 mol%Bi_(2)O_(3),were prepared by using melt cooling method.Structure and thermal properties of the glasses were studied by using X-ray diffractometer(XRD),infrared spectrometer(FIT-IR),thermal dilatometer and differential thermal analyzer(DTA).Chemical durability of the glasses was studied by using dissolution rate method.Wettability of glasses on substrate was tested by using button sintering experiment.It is found that alkaline resistance of the glass solders is lower than that of plate glass and the water resistance is comparable with that of plate glass.The sealing temperatures are Ts=445-490℃,while the average thermal expansion coefficient from room temperature to 300℃is in the range of(65-82)×10^(−7)℃^(−1).At sealing temperature,the glass solders have good wettability on plate glass or alumina substrate.They are not crystallized even sintered at the sealing temperature for 30 min.The solder glasses are suitable for sealing plate glass,alumina and other inorganic non-metallic materials.展开更多

The optical band gaps Eopt of glasses obtained from ultraviolet absorption edges decreases with increase of WO3 content. Z-scan technique was carried out to investigate the third-order nonlinear optical properties of the glasses. It is found that the nonlinear refraction γ increases with decreasing the optical band gap Eopt, since an increase of WO3 content can promote the non-bridging oxygen ion content, and the highest γ value of samples is 1.173×10-14 cm2/W. The results show that these glasses are potential materials in the application of third-order nonlinear optics field.展开更多
Glass sample of Zinc Lithium Bismuth Borate (25-x) Bi<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>:20Li<sub>2</sub>O:20ZnO:35B<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>:xPr<sub>6</sub&g...Glass sample of Zinc Lithium Bismuth Borate (25-x) Bi<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>:20Li<sub>2</sub>O:20ZnO:35B<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>:xPr<sub>6</sub>O<sub>11</sub>, (where x = 1, 1.5 and 2 mol%) has been prepared by melt-quenching technique. The amorphous nature of the prepared glass samples was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. The absorption spectra of three Pr<sup>3+</sup> doped zinc lithium bismuth borate glasses have been recorded at room temperature. The observed optical spectra are discussed in terms of energy states and the intensity of the transitions. The various interaction parameters like Slater-Condon, Lande, bonding and Racah parameters have been computed. Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters and laser parameters have also been calculated. The stimulated emission cross section (σ<sub>p</sub>) for the transition (<sup>3</sup>P<sub>0</sub> → <sup>3</sup>F<sub>2</sub>) is found to be in the range 3.12 - 10.43 * 10<sup>-20</sup> cm<sup>2</sup>. The σ<sub>p</sub> values are comparatively large suggesting the possible utilization of these materials in laser applications.展开更多

The Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters Ωt (t=2, 4, 6) were...Novel Er3+-doped bismuth lead strontiam glass was fabricated and characterized, and the absorption spectrum and upconversion spectrum of the glass were studied. The Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters Ωt (t=2, 4, 6) were found to be Ω2=3.27×10-20 cm2, Ω4=1.15×10-20 cm2, and Ω6=0.38×10-20 cm2. The oscillator strength, the spontaneous transition probabilities, the fluorescence branching ratios, and excited state lifetimes were also measured and calculated. The upconversion emission intensity varies with the power of infrared excitation intensity. A plot of log Iup vs log IIR yields a straight line with slope 1.86, 1.88 and 1.85, corresponding to 525, 546, and 657 nm emission bands, respectively, which indicates that a two-photon process for the red and green emission.展开更多

It is found that the refractive index of samples as well as the UV absorption increase with the increase of BaO content. Four glasses with compositions xBi2O3-B2O3-(70-x)TeO2 (x = 40, 50, 60 and 70 tool%) have been prepared by using melt quenching technique. The effect of Bi2O3 content on thermal stability, optical properties and structures of these four Bi2O3-B2O3-TeO2 glasses is systematically investigated by inductive coupled plasma emission spectrometer (ICP), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Raman spectra and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It is found that the density, refractive index and optical basicity increase with increasing Bi2O3. The Raman spectra and XPS spectra show that the glass network is mainly constituted by the [BiO6] octahedron, [TeO4] trigonal bipyramidal, [TeO3] trigonal pyramid, [BO3] trigonal pyramid and [B04] tetrahedron structural units. With increasing Bi2O3, the coordination number around B atom changes from 3 to 4 and [TeO4] units are converted to [TeO3] units. Bi5+ ions may exist in Bi2O3-B2O3-TeO2 (BBT) system and their amount grows with increasing Bi2O3 content.展开更多
