[Objectives]To analyze and study the effects of chiropractic and traditional Chinese medicine on pain score and functional ambyiation category scale rating in patients with cervical spondylosis.[Methods]41 postpartum patients with acute pubic symphysis pelvic girdle pain were treated by Xiao Huoluodan Granules(orally taking one bag of Xiao Huoluodan Granules 20 g three times daily with 120-150 mL warm water after each meal),and combined with sacroiliac joint manipulation, muscle posture relaxation and muscle energy technique.[Results]After treatment, the pain score(VAS)was decreased and Holden walking function rating was improved(all P<0.001).[Conclusions]Chiropractic and traditional Chinese medicine therapy has a significant effect on the treatment of postpartum acute pubic symphysis pelvic girdle pain, and it can effectively relieve pain, improve postpartum quality of life and prevent postpartum complications.Due to its benefits,it is worthy of clinical promotion and application. 展开更多

We report a patient with severe ataxia due to Dandy-Walker malformation, who showed functional recovery over 10 months corresponding to a change in a cerebellar peduncle lesion. A 20-month-old female patient who was diagnosed with Dandy-Walker syndrome and six age- and sex-matched healthy control subjects were enrolled. The superior cerebellar peduncle, the middle cerebellar peduncle, and the inferior cerebellar peduncle were evaluated using fractional anisotropy and the apparent diffusion coefficient. The patients' functional ambulation category was 0 at the initial visit, but improved to 2 at the follow-up evaluation, and Berg's balance scale score also improved from 0 to 7. Initial diffusion tensor tractography revealed that the inferior cerebellar peduncle was not detected, that the fractional anisotropy of the superior cerebellar peduncle and middle cerebellar peduncle decreased by two standard deviations below, and that the apparent diffusion coefficient increased by two standard deviations over normal control values. However, on follow-up diffusion tensor tractography, both inferior cerebellar peduncles could be detected, and the fractional anisotropy of superior cerebellar peduncle increased to within two standard deviations of normal controls. The functional improvement in this patient appeared to correspond to changes in these cerebellar peduncles. We believe that evaluating cerebellar peduncles using diffusion tensor imaging is useful in cases when a cerebellar peduncle lesion is suspected. 展开更多

The corticoreticular tract (CRT) is known to be involved in walking and postural control. Using diffusion tensor tractography (DTT), we investigated the relationship between the CRT and gait dysfunction, includ- ing trunk instability, in pediatric patients. Thirty patients with delayed development and 15 age-matched, typically-developed (TD) children were recruited. Fifteen patients with gait dysfunction (bilateral trunk instability) were included in the group A, and the other 15 patients with gait dysfunction (unilateral trunk instability) were included in the group B. The Growth Motor Function Classification System, Functional Ambulation Category scale, and Functional Ambulation Category scale were used for measurement of functional state. Fractional anisotropy, apparent diffusion coefficient, fiber number, and tract integrity of the CRT and corticospinal tract were measured. Diffusion parameters or integrity of corticospinal tract were not significantly different in the three study groups. However, CRT results revealed that both CRTs were disrupted in the group A, whereas CRT disruption in the hemispheres contralateral to clinical mani- festations was observed in the group B. Fractional anisotropy values and fiber numbers in both CRTs were decreased in the group A than in the group TD. The extents of decreases of fractional anisotropy values and fiber numbers on the ipsilateral side relative to those on the contralateral side were greater in the group B than in the group TD. Functional evaluation data and clinical manifestations were found to show strong correlations with CRT status, rather than with corticospinal tract status. These findings suggest that CRT status appears to be clinically important for gait function and trunk stability in pediatric patients and DTT can help assess CRT status in pediatric patients with gait dysfunction. 展开更多

Some questions regarding the analysis of classifiers and classifier constructions are raised in this paper. The classifier,as a mere adjunct adjoining to the head, cannot serve as the head of the noun phrase containing it,and as a result,it cannot project as ClP or nP.Under this approach, the DP analysis and the classifier construction theory are further refined. The constituents which precede and follow the classifier are analyzed in terms of their syntactic functions, semantic relations, linear features, feature assignment and syntactic occurrence in order to represent the classifier construction with the X-bar phrase structure theory appropriately and correctly and present a universal approach to classifier constructions in various languages. 展开更多

This study investigated the resetting process of the articles' parameters by Chinese English learners with a Forced Choice Elicitation Task on the basis of the Article Choice Parameter and Fluctuation Hypothesis proposed by Ionin, Ko and Wexler (2004). It was found that Chinese English learners fluctuate between definiteness and specificity, the two parameter-settings of articles. Our findings are consistent with the Fluctuation Hypothesis. Their performance can be accounted for under the theoretical framework of Distributed Morphology. The difficulty in article acquisition lies in the fact that Chinese English learners can not easily identify the correct features in the specification of syntactic terminal nodes as well as the vocabulary items, but they possess the syntactic knowledge and they can access the definiteness parameter setting with enough L2 input. Chinese English learners' interlanguage syntax is not impaired and UG full access is supported. 展开更多
