However, conventional microthermometry is difficult to apply for inclusions of small size (〈 5-10 μm) or low density. The dimensional accuracy, surface roughness, mechanical strength and above all functionality of built parts are dependent on many process variables and their settings. In this study, five important process parameters such as layer thickness, orientation, raster angle, raster width and air gap have been considered to study their effects on three responses viz., tensile, flexural and impact strength of test specimen. Experiments have been conducted using central composite design (CCD) and empirical models relating each response and process parameters have been developed. The models are validated using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Finally, bacterial foraging technique is used to suggest theoretical combination of parameter settings to achieve good strength simultaneously for all responses.展开更多

In this work, a method for characterizing elastic constants of FDM-fabricated materials ...Fused deposition modelling(FDM), a widely used rapid prototyping process, is a promising technique in manufacturing engineering. In this work, a method for characterizing elastic constants of FDM-fabricated materials is proposed. First of all, according to the manufacturing process of FDM, orthotropic constitutive model is used to describe the mechanical behavior. Then the virtual fields method(VFM) is applied to characterize all the mechanical parameters(Q, Q, Q, Q) using the full-field strain, which is measured by digital image correlation(DIC). Since the principal axis of the FDM-fabricated structure is sometimes unknown due to the complexity of the manufacturing process, a disk in diametrical compression is used as the load configuration so that the loading angle can be changed conveniently. To verify the feasibility of the proposed method, finite element method(FEM) simulation is conducted to obtain the strain field of the disk. The simulation results show that higher accuracy can be achieved when the loading angle is close to 30?. Finally, a disk fabricated by FDM was used for the experiment. By rotating the disk, several tests with different loading angles were conducted. To determine the position of the principal axis in each test, two groups of parameters(Q, Q, Q, Q) are calculated by two different groups of virtual fields. Then the corresponding loading angle can be determined by minimizing the deviation between two groups of the parameters. After that, the four constants(Q, Q, Q, Q) were determined from the test with an angle of 27?.展开更多

文摘In the grinding of high quality fused silica parts with complex surface or structure using ball-headed metal bonded diamond wheel with small diameter, the existing dressing methods are not suitable to dress the ball-headed diamond wheel precisely due to that they are either on-line in process dressing which may causes collision problem or without consideration for the effects of the tool setting error and electrode wear.An on-machine precision preparation and dressing method is proposed for ball-headed diamond wheel based on electrical discharge machining.By using this method the cylindrical diamond wheel with small diameter is manufactured to hemispherical-headed form. The obtained ball-headed diamond wheel is dressed after several grinding passes to recover geometrical accuracy and sharpness which is lost due to the wheel wear.A tool setting method based on high precision optical system is presented to reduce the wheel center setting error and dimension error. The effect of electrode tool wear is investigated by electrical dressing experiments, and the electrode tool wear compensation model is established based on the experimental results which show that the value of wear ratio coefficient K’ tends to be constant with the increasing of the feed length of electrode and the mean value of K’ is 0.156.Grinding experiments of fused silica are carried out on a test bench to evaluate the performance of the preparation and dressing method. The experimental results show that the surface roughness of the finished workpiece is 0.03 μm.The effect of the grinding parameter and dressing frequency on the surface roughness is investigated based on the measurement results of the surface roughness. This research provides an on-machine preparation and dressing method for ball-headed metal bonded diamond wheel used in the grinding of fused silica, which provides a solution to the tool setting method and the effect of electrode tool wear.
文摘The Fused Modified Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm has been proposed, which selects the most specific feature sets from images of the disease of plant leaves. The Proposed algorithm ensures the detection of diseases during the early stages of the diagnosis of leaf disease by farmers and, finally, the crop needed to be controlled by farmers to ensure the survival and protection of plants. In this study,a novel approach has been suggested based on the standard optimization algorithm for grasshopper and the selection of features.Leaf conditions in plants are a major factor in reducing crop yield and quality.Any delay or errors in the diagnosis of the disease can lead to delays in the management of plant disease spreading and damage and related material losses.Comparative new heuristic optimization of swarm intelligence,Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm was inspired by grasshopper movements for their feeding strategy. It simulates the attitude and social interaction of grasshopper swarm in terms of gravity and wind advection. In the decision on features extracted by an accelerated feature selection algorithm, popular approaches such as ANN and SVM classifiers had been used. For the evaluation of the proposed model, different data sets of plant leaves were used. The proposed model was successful in the diagnosis of the diseases of leaves the plant with an accuracy of 99.41 percent(average). The proposed biologically inspired model was sufficiently satisfied, and the best or most desirable characteristics were established. Finally, the results of the research for these data sets were estimated by the proposed Fused Modified Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm(FMGOA).The results of that experiment were demonstrated to allow classification models to reduce input features and thus to increase the precision with the presented Modified Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm.Measurement and analysis were performed to prove the model validity through model parameters such as precision,recall,f-measure,and precision.

文摘Biodegradable polymers are highly attractive as potential alternatives to petroleum-based polymers in an attempt to achieve carbon neutrality whilst maintaining the mechanical properties of the structures.Among these polymers, polylactic acid(PLA)is particularly promising due to its good mechanical properties, biocompatibility and thermoplasticity. In this work,we aim to enhance the mechanical properties of PLA using mechanically-defibrated cellulose nanofibers(CNFs)that exhibit remarkable mechanical properties and biodegradability. We also employ fused deposition modeling(FDM),one of the three-dimensional printing methods for thermoplastic polymers, for the low-cost fabrication of the products.Mechanically-defibrated CNF-reinforced PLA matrix composites are fabricated by FDM.Their tensile properties are investigated in two printing directions(0°/90°and+45°/-45°).The discussion about the relationship between printing direction and tensile behavoir of mechanically-defibrated CNF-reinforced PLA matrix composite is the unique point of this study. We further discuss the microstructure and fracture surface of mechanically-defibrated CNF-reinforced PLA matrix composite by scanning electron microscope.
文摘Fused deposition modelling (FDM) is a fast growing rapid prototyping (RP) technology due to its ability to build functional parts having complex geometrical shapes in reasonable build time. Finally, bacterial foraging technique is used to suggest theoretical combination of parameter settings to achieve good strength simultaneously for all responses.

文摘The evaluation index of camouflage patterns is important in the field of military application. It is the goal that researchers have always pursued to make the computable evaluation indicators more in line with the human visual mechanism. In order to make the evaluation method more computationally intelligent,a Multi-Feature Camouflage Fused Index(MF-CFI)is proposed based on the comparison of grayscale, color and texture features between the target and the background. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed index, eye movement experiments are conducted to compare the proposed index with existing indexes including Universal Image Quality Index(UIQI),Camouflage Similarity Index(CSI)and Structural Similarity(SSIM).Twenty-four different simulated targets are designed in a grassland background,28 observers participate in the experiment and record the eye movement data during the observation process. The results show that the highest Pearson correlation coefficient is observed between MF-CFI and the eye movement data, both in the designed digital camouflage patterns and largespot camouflage patterns.Since MF-CFI is more in line with the detection law of camouflage targets in human visual perception, the proposed index can be used for the comparison and parameter optimization of camouflage design algorithms.

文摘Fused deposition modelling(FDM), a widely used rapid prototyping process, is a promising technique in manufacturing engineering. After that, the four constants(Q, Q, Q, Q) were determined from the test with an angle of 27?.

文摘A novel fiber Bragg grating(FBG)sensor with three-dimensional(3D)fused deposition modeling(FDM)approach is proposed for effective stress measurement in soil mass. The three-diaphragm structure design is developed to measure earth and water pressures simultaneously. The proposed transducer has advantages of small size, high sensitivity, low cost, immunity to electromagnetic interference and rapid prototyping. The working principle, design parameters, and manufacturing details are discussed. The proposed transducer was calibrated for earth and water pressures measurement by using weights and a specially designed pressure chamber, respectively. The calibration results showed that the wavelength of the transducer was proportional to the applied pressure. The sensitivity coefficients of the earth and water pressures were 12.633 nm/MPa and 6.282 nm/MPa,respectively.Repeated tests and error analysis demonstrated the excellent stability and accuracy of the earth and water pressure measurements. The performance of the proposed transducer was further verified by a model experimental test and numerical analysis, which indicated that the proposed transducer has great potential for practical applications.

文摘A non-evaporative technique is used to mitigate damage sites with lateral sizes in a range from 50 μm to 400 μm and depths smaller than 100 μm.The influence of the pulse frequency of a CO 2 laser on the mitigation effect is studied. It is found that a more symmetrical and smooth mitigation crater can be obtained by increasing the laser pulse frequency form 0.1 to 20 kHz.Furthermore, the sizes of laser-affected and distorted zones decrease with the increase of the laser pulse frequency, leading to less degradation of the wave-front quality of the conditioned sample. The energy density of the CO 2 laser beam is introduced for selecting the mitigation parameters. The damage sites can be successfully mitigated by increasing the energy density in a ramped way. Finally, the laser-induced damage threshold(LIDT) of the mitigated site is tested using 355 nm laser beam with a small spot(0.23 mm 2) and a large spot(3.14 mm 2),separately.It is shown that the non-evaporative mitigation technique is a successful method to stop damage re-initiation since the average LIDTs of mitigated sites tested with small or large laser spots are higher than that of pristine material.
