文摘Hydrodynamics characterization in terms offlow regime behavior is a crucial task to enhance the design of bubble column reactors and scaling up related methodologies. This review presents recent studies on the typicalflow regimes established in bubble columns. Some effort is also provided to introduce relevant definitions pertaining to thisfield, namely, that of“void fraction”and related(local,chordal,cross-sectional and volumetric)variants.Experimental studies involving different parameters that affect design and operating conditions are also discussed in detail. In the second part of the review, the attention is shifted to cases with internals of various types(perfo-rated plates, baffles, vibrating helical springs, mixers, and heat exchanger tubes)immersed in the bubble columns. It is shown that the presence of these elements has a limited influence on the global column hydrodynamics. However, they can make the homogeneousflow regime more stable in terms of transition gas velocity and transi-tion holdup value. The last section is used to highlight gaps which have not beenfilled yet and future directions of investigation.

文摘Since the 1980s,the robust economic growth of China has prompted extensive land reclamation projects along its coastline, notably affecting local hydrodynamics and resulting in ecological repercussions.Using a nearshore finite volume ocean model,we constructed a hydrodynamic model for Shacheng Bay,a southeastern coastal region with a winding and narrow entrance. We examined the hydrodynamic changes and mangrove dynamics over the past 36 years and the relationship between hydrodynamic alterations and mangrove degradation.Simulation results reveal that extensive reclamation projects between 1984 and 2000 weakened the current in Shacheng Bay,leading to decreased water exchange capacity and a significant reduction in mangrove area from 0.3 to 0.06km^(2).During this period, over 37% of mangrove degradation was ascribed to time-changing hydrodynamic variables without the direct influence of land reclamation. The results also highlight the changes in local hydrodynamics and water exchange patterns that adversely influenced mangrove growth. From 2000 to 2020,there were minimal coastline changes in Shacheng Bay,demonstrating reduced land reclamation activities. This stopped the further weakening trend of the currents, with a slight increase during ebb tides, while the residual current continued to weaken due to the decreasing tidal prism and water exchange capacity. The mangrove area partially recovered during this period, expanding from 0.06 to 0.11 km^(2),predominantly in new areas instead of where mangroves disappeared from 1984 to 2000.This work underlines the intricate relationship between land reclamation, hydrodynamics, and mangrove ecosystems, underscoring the need for sustainable coastal development strategies.

文摘This work focuses on the effect of the interval between two shocks on the ejecta formation from the grooved aluminum(Al_(1100))surface by using smoothed particle hydrodynamics numerical simulation. Two unsupported shocks are obtained by the plate-impact between sample and two flyers at interval, with a peak pressure of approximately 30 GPa for each shock. When the shock interval varies from 2.11 to 7.67 times the groove depth, the bubble velocity reduces to a constant, and the micro jetting factor R_(J) from spike to bubble exhibits a non-monotonic change that decreases initially and then increases. At a shock interval of 3.6 times the groove depth, micro jetting factor R_(J) from spike to bubble reaches its minimum value of approximately 0.6.While,the micro jetting factor R_(F) from spike to free surface decreases linearly at first, and stabilizes around 0.25 once the shock interval surpasses 4.18 times the groove depth. When the shock interval is less than 4.18 times the groove depth, the unloading wave generated by the breakout of the first shock wave is superimpose with the unloading part of the second shock wave to form a large tensile area.

文摘This paper investigates the hydrodynamic characteristics of floating truncated cylinders undergoing horizontal and vertical motions due to earthquake excitations in the finite water depth. The governing equation of the hydrodynamic pressure acting on the cylinder is derived based on the radiation theory with the inviscid and incompressible assumptions. The governing equation is solved by using the method of separating variables and analytical solutions are obtained by assigning reasonable boundary conditions. The analytical result is validated by a numerical model using the exact artificial boundary simulation of the infinite water. The main variation and distribution characteristics of the hydrodynamic pressure acting on the side and bottom of the cylinder are analyzed for different combinations of wide-height and immersion ratios. The added mass coefficient of the cylinder is calculated by integrating the hydrodynamic pressure and simplified formulas are proposed for engineering applications. The calculation results show that the simplified formulas are in good agreement with the analytical solutions.

文摘In this paper, the multi-body coupled dynamic characteristics of a semisubmersible platform and an HYSY 229 barge were investigated.First, coupled hydrodynamic analysis of the HYSY 229 barge and the semisubmersible platform was performed.Relevant hydrodynamic parameters were obtained using the retardation function method of three-dimensional frequency-domain potential flow theory. The results of the hydrodynamic analysis were highly consistent with the test findings, verifying the accuracy of the multifloating hydrodynamic coupling analysis, and key hydrodynamic parameters were solved for different water depths and the coupling effect.According to the obtained results, the hydrodynamic influence was the largest in shallow waters when the coupling effect was considered.Furthermore, the coupled motion equation combined with viscous damping, fender system, and mooring system was established, and the hydrodynamics, floating body motion, and dynamic response of the fender system were analyzed.Motion analysis revealed good agreement among the surge, sway, and yaw motions of the two floating bodies. However, when the wave period reached 10 s,the motion of the two floating bodies showed severe shock, and a relative motion was also observed. Therefore, excessive constraints should be added between the two floating bodies during construction to ensure construction safety. The numerical analysis and model test results of the semisubmersible platform and HYSY 229 barge at a water depth of 42 m and sea conditions of 0°,45°,and 90° were in good agreement, and the error was less than 5%.The maximum movement of the HYSY 229 barge reached 2.61 m in the sway direction, whereas that of the semisubmersible platform was 2.11 m.During construction, excessive constraints should be added between the two floating bodies to limit their relative movement and ensure construction safety.

文摘To adapt to the change of aquaculture workshop site, optimize the shape of aquaculture tanks and improve the utilization rate of breeding space,it is necessary to determine the appropriate length width ratio parameters of aquaculture tanks. In this paper, computational fluid dynamics(CFD)technology is adopted to study the flow field performance of aquaculture tanks with different L/B ratios(L:the length;B:the width,of aquaculture tank)and different jet direction conditions(lengthways jet and widthways jet).A three-dimensional numerical calculation model of turbulence in rounded rectangle aquaculture tanks in dual-diagonal-inlet layout was established.Jet directions are arranged lengthways and widthways, and the water flow velocity, resistance coefficient change, vorticity, etc.are analyzed under two working conditions. Results show that the flow field performance in aquaculture tank decreases with the increase of the L/B ratio. The flow field performed well when L/B was 1.0-1.3,sharply dropped at 1.4-1.6,and poor at 1.7-1.9.The results provided a theoretical basis for the design and optimization in flow field performance of the industrialized circulating aquaculture tanks.

文摘Two-dimensional(2D)flume experiments are useful in investigating the performances of floating breakwaters(FBs),including hydrodynamic performances, motion responses, and mooring forces.Designing a reasonable gap between the flume wall and the FBs is a critical step in 2D flume tests. However, research on the effect of the gap on the accuracy of 2D FB experimental results is scarce. To address this issue,a numerical wave tank is developed using CFD to estimate the wave-FB interaction of a moored dual-cylindrical FB,and the results are compared to experimental data from a previously published work. There is good agreement between them, indicating that the numerical model is sufficiently accurate. The numerical model is then applied to explore the effect of gap diffraction on the performance of FBs in2D experiments. It was discovered that the nondimensional gap length L_(Gap)/W_(Pool)should be smaller than 7.5%to ensure that the relative error of the transmission coefficient is smaller than 3%.The influence of the gap is also related to the entering wave properties, such as the wave height and period.

文摘To enhance flow stability and reduce hydrodynamic noise caused by fluctuating pressure,a quasiperiodic elastic support skin composed of flexible walls and elastic support elements is proposed for fluid noise reduction. The arrangement of the elastic support element is determined by the equivalent periodic distance and quasi-periodic coefficient. In this paper,a dynamic model of skin in a fluid environment is established. The influence of equivalent periodic distance and quasi-periodic coefficient on flow stability is investigated. The results suggest that arranging the elastic support elements in accordance with the quasi-periodic law can effectively enhance flow stability.Meanwhile, the hydrodynamic noise calculation results demonstrate that the skin exhibits excellent noise reduction performance, with reductions of 10 dB in the streamwise direction,11 dB in the spanwise direction, and 10 dB in the normal direction. The results also demonstrate that the stability analysis method can serve as a diagnostic tool for flow fields and guide the design of noise reduction structures.

文摘In recent years, the integration of stochastic techniques, especially those based on artificial neural networks, has emerged as a pivotal advancement in the field of computational fluid dynamics. These techniques offer a powerful framework for the analysis of complex fluid flow phenomena and address the uncertainties inherent in fluid dynamics systems.Following this trend, the current investigation portrays the design and construction of an important technique named swarming optimized neuroheuristic intelligence with the competency of artificial neural networks to analyze nonlinear viscoelastic magneto-hydrodynamic Prandtl-Eyring fluid flow model, with diffusive magnetic layers effect along an extended sheet. The currently designed computational technique is established using inverse multiquadric radial basis activation function through the hybridization of a well-known global searching technique of particle swarm optimization and sequential quadratic programming,a technique capable of rapid convergence locally. The most appropriate scaling group involved transformations that are implemented on governing equations of the suggested fluidic model to convert it from a system of nonlinear partial differential equations into a dimensionless form of a third-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation. The transformed/reduced fluid flow model is solved for sundry variations of physical quantities using the designed scheme and outcomes are matched consistently with Adam's numerical technique with negligible magnitude of absolute errors and mean square errors. Moreover,it is revealed that the velocity of the fluid depreciates in the presence of a strong magnetic field effect. The efficacy of the designed solver is depicted evidently through rigorous statistical observations via exhaustive numerical experimentation of the fluidic problem.

文摘Oil transport is greatly affected by heterogeneous pore–throat structures present in shale. It is therefore very important to accurately characterize pore–throat structures.Additionally,it remains unclear how pore–throat structures affect oil transport capacity. In this paper, using finite element(FE)simulation and mathematical modeling,we calculated the hydrodynamic resistance for four pore–throat structure. In addition, the influence of pore throat structure on shale oil permeability is analyzed.According to the results, the hydrodynamic resistance of different pore throat structures can vary by 300%.The contribution of additional resistance caused by streamline bending is also in excess of 40%,even without slip length.Fur-thermore,Pore–throat structures can affect apparent permeability by more than 60%on the REV scale, and this influence increases with heterogeneity of pore size distribution, organic matter content, and organic matter number.Clearly, modeling shale oil flow requires consideration of porous–throat structure and additional resistance, otherwise oil recovery and flow capacity may be overestimated.

文摘This study proposes a novel open-type rectangular breakwater combined with horizontal perforated plates on both sides to enhance the sheltering effect of the rectangular box-type breakwaters against longer waves. The hydrodynamic characteristics of this breakwater are analyzed through analytical potential solutions and experimental tests. The quadratic pressure drop conditions are exerted on the horizontal perforated plates to facilitate assessing the effect of wave height on the dissipated wave energy of breakwater through the analytical solution. The hydrodynamic quantities of the breakwater, including the reflection, transmission, and energyloss coefficients, together with vertical and horizontal wave forces, are calculated using the velocity potential decomposition method as well as an iterative algorithm.Furthermore, the reflection and transmission coefficients of the breakwater are measured by conducting experimental tests at various wave periods, wave heights, and both porosities and widths of the horizontal perforated plates. The analytical predicted results demonstrate good agreement with the iterative boundary element method solution and measured data. The influences of variable incident waves and structure parameters on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the breakwater are investigated through further calculations based on analytical solutions. Results indicate that horizontal perforated plates placed on the water surface for both sides of the rectangular breakwater can enhance the wave dissipation ability of the breakwater while effectively decreasing the transmission and reflection coefficients.

文摘In the present study, the nanofliud natural convection is investigated by the energy-conserving dissipative particle dynamics(eDPD)method, where the nanoparticles are considered at the single-particle level. The thermal expansion coefficientβand the viscosityμof the simulated system containing nanoparticles are calculated and found to be in close alignment with the previous simulation results. The single-particle hydrodynamics in e DPD enables simulations of nanofluid natural convection with higher Rayleigh numbers and greater nanoparticle volume fractions.Additionally, this approach is utilized to simulate the nanoparticle distribution during the enhanced heat transfer process in the nanofluid natural convection. The localized aggregation of nanoparticles enhances the heat transfer performance of the nanofluid under specific Rayleigh numbers and nanoparticles volume fractions.

文摘Residual strength is an indispensable factor in evaluating rock fracture, yet the current Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics(SPH)framework rarely considers its influence when simulating fracture. An improved cracking strategy considering residual stress in the base bond SPH method was proposed to simulate failures in layered rocks and slopes and verified by experimental results and other simulation methods(i.e.,the discrete element method).Modified Mohr–Coulomb failure criterion was applied to distinguish the mixed failure of tensile and shear.Bond fracture markψwas introduced to improve the kernel function after tensile damage, and the calculation of residual stress after the damage was derived after shear damage.Numerical simulations were carried out to evaluate its performance under different stress and scale conditions and to verify its effectiveness in realistically reproducing crack initiation and propagation and coalescence, even fracture and separation. The results indicate that the improved cracking strategy precisely captures the fracture and failure pattern in layered rocks and rock slopes. The residual stress of brittle tock is correctly captured by the improved SPH method. The improved SPH method that considers residual strength shows an approximately 13%improvement in accuracy for the safety factor of anti-dip layered slopes compared to the method that does not consider residual strength,as validated against analytical solutions. We infer that the improved SPH method is effective and shows promise for applications to continuous and discontinuous rock masses.
