Background: The first described obesity-susceptibility gene was the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene. However, knowledge about FTO's potential modifying effect on changes in body weight achieved through ...Background: The first described obesity-susceptibility gene was the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene. However, knowledge about FTO's potential modifying effect on changes in body weight achieved through a training program is still limited. We decided to study the association between the FTO A/T polymorphism (rs9939609) and obesity-related traits. Additionally, we investigated whether body mass and body composition, as well as metabolic variables observed in physically active participants, are modulated by the FTO polymorphism. Methods: A group of 201 young Polish women were recruited for the study. The genotype distribution was examined in participants measured for selected changes before and after the completion of a 12-week training program. Results: Our results confirm the association between the common FTO A/T polymorphism and increased body mass index (BMI). Subjects with AA and AT genotypes had higher BMI during the entire study period compared with the TT genotype. Although parameters such as BMI, basal metabolism rate, tissue independence, fat mass percentage, fat mass, fat-free mass, total body water, high-density lipoprotein, and glucose changed significantly during the training program, none of the examined parameters changed significantly across the FTO genotypes (genotype × training interaction). Conclusion: We confirm an association between the FTO A/T polymorphism and increased BMI; this polymorphism is therefore a candidate for influencing obesity and other disease-related phenotypes. Influence of intramolecular π-π interaction on the luminescent properties of thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF) molecule(3, 5-bis(3,6-di-tert-butyl-9 H-carbazol-9-yl)-phenyl)(pyridin-4-yl) methan...Influence of intramolecular π-π interaction on the luminescent properties of thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF) molecule(3, 5-bis(3,6-di-tert-butyl-9 H-carbazol-9-yl)-phenyl)(pyridin-4-yl) methanone(DTCBPY) is theoretically studied by using the density functional theory(DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory(TD-DFT).Four conformations(named as A, B, C, and D) of the DTCBPY can be found by relax scanning, and the configuration C corresponds to the luminescent molecule detected experimentally. Besides, we calculate the proportion of each conformation by Boltzmann distribution, high configuration ratios(44% and 52%) can be found for C and D. Moreover, C and D are found to exist with an intramolecular π-π interaction between one donor and the acceptor; the intramolecular interaction brings a smaller Huang-Rhys factor and reduced reorganization energy. Our work presents a rational explanation for the experimental results and demonstrates the importance of the intramolecular π-π interaction to the photophysical properties of TADF molecules.展开更多
We report on the results of cross-correlation of a sample of 903 Ultraluminous IRAS galaxies (ULIRGs) with the ROSAT-All Sky Survey Bright Source Catalogue and the ROSAT archived pointing observations. The sample of ...We report on the results of cross-correlation of a sample of 903 Ultraluminous IRAS galaxies (ULIRGs) with the ROSAT-All Sky Survey Bright Source Catalogue and the ROSAT archived pointing observations. The sample of ULIRGs has been compiled from the recently released PSCz redshift survey. In total, 35 ULIRGs are securely detected by the ROSAT All-Sky Survey and pointing observations, five of which are blazars. The statistical properties of these sources in the soft X-ray band are determined and compared with their properties in other wavebands. We find that the ratio of the soft X-ray to the far-infrared flux spans about five orders of magnitude and reaches Values of about unity. This ratio is a good indicator of the main energy source of ULIRGs. Those with soft X-ray to far-infrared flux exceeding 0.01 are probably powered by accretion onto central supermassive black holes while those with ratios smaller than 0.001 are probably powered by starbursts or other heating processes, or are Compton thick sources. Some ULIRGs have energy contributions from both. This ratio is low for most ULIRGs and hyperluminous infrared galaxies, which explains their low detection rate by ROSAT and ASCA. We also find that some ULIRGs have a similar soft X-ray luminosity vs. temperature relation to that for groups of galaxies and elliptical galaxies, suggesting a common origin of these systems. Our study also reveals a tight correlation between the hardness ratio and the soft X-ray luminosity for Seyfert 1s/QSOs.展开更多

We present long-slit spectroscopy of J0038 +4128, a kiloparsec-scale dual AGN candidate, discovered recently by Huang et al., using the Yunnan Faint Object Spectrograph and Camera (YFOSC) mounted on the Lijiang 2.4-m telescope administered by Yunnan Observatories. From the long-slit spectra, we find that the average relative line-of-sight (LOS) velocity between the two nuclei (J0038+4128N and J0038+4128S) is about 150 km s-1. The LOS velocities of the emission lines from the gas ionized by the nuclei activities and of the absorption lines from stars governed by the host galaxies for different regions of J0038+4128 exhibit the same trend. The same trend in velocities indicates that the gaseous disks are co-rotating with the stellar disks in this ongoing merging system. We also find several knots/giant H II regions scattered around the two nuclei with strong star formation revealed by the observed line ratios from the spectra. Those regions are also clearly detected in images from HST F336W/U-band and HST F555W/V-band.展开更多

However, for common genetic diseases, multiple ge...Current methods for the detection of differential gene expression focus on finding individual genes that may be responsible for certain diseases or external irritants. However, for common genetic diseases, multiple genes and their interactions should be understood and treated together during the exploration of disease causes and possible drug design. The present study focuses on analyzing the dynamic patterns of co-regulated modules during biological progression and determining those having remarkably varying activities, using the yeast cell cycle as a case study. We first constructed dynamic active protein-protein interaction networks by modeling the activity of proteins and assembling the dynamic co-regulation protein network at each time point. The dynamic active modules were detected using a method based on the Bayesian graphical model and then the modules with the most varied dispersion of clustering coefficients, which could be responsible for the dynamic mechanism of the cell cycle, were identified. Comparison of results from our functional module detection with the state-of-art functional module detection methods and validation of the ranking of activities of functional modules using GO annotations demonstrate the efficacy of our method for narrowing the scope of possible essential responding modules that could provide multiple targets for biologists to further experimentally validate.展开更多

Among the target compounds,compound 7h showed the highest in vivo inactivation activity against TMV with the EC50 and EC90value of 45.6 and 327.5 mg/m L, respectively, which was similar to that of Ningnanmycin(46.9 and 329.4 mg/m L)and superior to that of Ribavirin(145.1 and 793.1 mg/m L). The calculated results show that these relation equations can be used to calculate the activity coefficients of carbon and iron in Fe-C system and can satisfy the necessary condition to satisfy Gibbs-Duhem equation and the necessary condition to satisfy the stability condition of system at high carbon content. 文摘Carbon solubility in Mn-Fe melts(xMn=0.161-0.706,xFe=0.034-0.633)was measured experimentally at various temperatures.By thermodynamic derivation and calculation,the relationship between activity coefficient of carbon in infinite dilute solution of manganese in Mn-C system and temperature was obtained.Using Gibbs-Duhem relationship,the experimental results of this study,and experimental data reported in references,the relationship between other thermodynamic properties in Mn-C system and temperature were obtained by thermodynamic derivation and calculation.

文摘Carbon solubility in Fe-Mn melts (XFe =0. 102 3-0. 789 9, XMn =0. 055 1-0. 638 0) was measured experimentally at various temperatures. Using Gibbs-Duhem equation, in combination with the experimental results in this work, quoting experimental data reported in references, and by strict thermodynamic derivation and calculation, the relation equations between the activity interaction parameters in Fe-C system and temperature were obtained. The calculation equation of lnyFe. in Fe-C system was also obtained. The calculated results show that these relation equations can be used to calculate the activity coefficients of carbon and iron in Fe-C system and can satisfy the necessary condition to satisfy Gibbs-Duhem equation and the necessary condition to satisfy the stability condition of system at high carbon content. The calculation formula for lnTc in Fe-Mn-C system was also obtained.
