How to control the spread of rumors has become an important issue which is worth studying. In order to more accurately reflect the actual situation in the real world, a stochastic model incorporating media coverage and Lévy noise is proposed to describe the dynamic process of rumor propagation. By introducing two control strategies of popular science education and media coverage in an emergency event, an near-optimal control problem that minimizes the influence and control cost of rumor propagation is proposed.Sufficient conditions for near-optimal control of the model are established by using a Hamiltonian function. Then the necessary conditions for near-optimal control are obtained by using the Pontryagin maximum principle. Finally, the effect of popular science education, media coverage and Lévy noise on rumor propagation process control is verified by numerical simulation.展开更多

In this paper, a technique for escaping the Earth by using a solar sail is developed and numerically simulated. The spacecraft is initially in a geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO). Blended solar sail analytical control law, explicitly independent of time, are then presented, which provide near-optimal escape trajectories and maintain a safe minimum altitude and which are suitable as a potential autonomous onboard controller. This control law is investigated from a range of initial conditions and is shown to maintain the optimality previously demonstrated by the use of a single-energy gain control law but without the risk of planetary collision. Finally, it is shown that the blending solar sail analytical control law is suitable for solar sail on-board autonomously control system.展开更多

However, it also has several shortcomings, including lack of real-time closed-loop control, unreliable functional modules, and difficult to exchange data. The electric hybrid control theory (EHCT) has been proposed as an innovative and effective means to overcome these shortcomings. This paper argues that the EHCT provides a theoretical foundation for the advanced energy management system (AEMS) that can achieve multi-objective, near-optimal, and closed-loop control of electric power grids. This paper also discusses the significance for control centers to evolve from the traditional EMS to the AEMS. Furthermore, this paper points out that the traditional EMS can be considered as an integral part of the AEMS and that the AEMS can be built upon the traditional EMS. Thus, the resources that are currently available can be fully utilized to achieve near-optimal and closed-loop control of power system operations.展开更多
