Background:Though the COVID-19 pandemic recedes, and our society gradually returns to normal,Chinese people’s work and lifestyles are still influenced by the“pandemic aftermath”.In the post-pandemic era, employees may feel uncertainty at work due to the changed organizational operations and management and perceive the external environment to be more dynamic. Both these perceptions may increase employees’negative emotions and contribute to conflicts between work and life.Drawing from the ego depletion theory, this study aimed to examine the impact of job insecurity during the post-pandemic era on employees’work-life conflicts, and the mediating effect of workplace anxiety in this relationship.Besides, this study also considered the uncertainty of the external macro environment as a boundary condition on the direct and indirect relationship between job insecurity and work-life conflicts. Methods:A two-wave questionnaire survey was conducted from October to December 2023 to collect data.MBA students and graduates from business school with full-time jobs are invited to report their perception of job insecurity, work anxiety, perceived environment uncertainty, and work-life conflict. This resulted in 253 valid responses.Data analysis was performed using the SPSS,Amos, and PROCESS.Results:The results showed that:(1)Employees’job insecurity would directly intensify the work-life conflict(B=0.275,p<0.001,95%CI[0.182,0.367]).(2)Employees’workplace anxiety mediates the relationship between job insecurity and work-life conflict(B=0.083,p<0.001,95%CI[0.047,0.130]).(3)The mediating effect of workplace anxiety between job insecurity and work-life conflict exists when perceived environmental uncertainty is high(B=0.049,95%CI[0.011,0.114]),while vanishes when perceived environmental uncertainty is low(B=0.024,95%CI[−0.005,0.068]).Conclusion:Job insecurity combined with perceived environmental uncertainty in the postpandemic era fuels employees’workplace anxiety and work-life conflicts.Post-pandemic trauma lingers, necessitating urgent attention and response. 展开更多

Post-coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)cholangiopathy(PCC)is a rare but lifethreatening complication of COVID-19 infection.PCC typically presents when patients recovering from the contagion and manifests as cholestasis in patients with no history of pre-existing liver disease. The pathogenesis of PCC is little understood.Hepatic injury in PCC could be mediated by the predilection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 for cholangiocytes.Though PCC shows some resemblance to secondary sclerosing cholangitis in critically ill patients,it is considered as a separate and unique entity in the literature.Various treatment options like ursodeoxycholic acid, steroids, plasmapheresis, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography guided interventions have been tried but with limited success. We have noticed significant improvement in liver function with antiplatelet therapy in a couple of patients.PCC can progress to end-stage liver disease necessitating liver transplantation. In this article,we discuss the current knowledge of PCC focusing on its pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and management strategies. 展开更多

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has emerged as a major threat to global public health. The virus causes the clinical syndrome known as coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),in which multiple organs can get affected.Apart from manifestations of the respiratory system, which predominate, its clinical presentation is frequently accompanied by symptoms of the gastrointestinal(GI)tract and liver abnormalities. The correlation of symptoms and abnormalities with disease severity is discussed, leading to ambiguous results from international literature. Moreover, the disease infects patients with coexisting liver and GI disorders affecting both their health status and the availability of healthcare services provided to them. The risk of transmission of the disease during aerosol-generating procedures has changed the diagnostic approach and follow-up algorithms for liver and GI diseases. For the safety of both doctors and patients, telemedicine and distant evaluation have become everyday practice, whereas several routines and emergency visits at outpatient and emergency departments have been postponed or delayed.Vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 is underway, providing hope to humanity and the expectation that the post-COVID-19 era is near. This review aims to update knowledge about the manifestations of COVID-19 related to liver and GI diseases and the effect of the pandemic on the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for these diseases with a special focus on how current practices have changed and what changes will possibly remain in the future. 展开更多

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)global pandemic can be a severe illness that leads to morbidity and mortality. With the increasing number of COVID-19 pneumonia survivors, several long-term changes may persist, including abnormal imaging of lung parenchyma. In addition to the clinical course,it is vital to follow up on pulmonary imaging during the post-infectious period, which is not routinely required in other common pulmonary diagnoses.Computed tomography(CT)scan of the chest is an effective and diagnostic tool for pneumonia which gives an insight into structural abnormalities within the lungs, complications, and possible progression of the disease.Several studies have monitored COVID-19 pneumonia and its complications using serial CT chest imaging from the initial phase of infection, hospitalization, and post-discharge.Nonetheless,long-term follow-up imaging data in post-COVID-19 is still limited. We have summarized the findings utilizing a systematic review of the literature regarding COVID-19 pneumonia imaging, including long-term follow-up. 展开更多

Here, we present a longitudinal analysis of two patients who recovered from COVID-19 more than 8 months prior but showed persistent serological detection of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgM. We still do not know the exact reason for this prolonged persistence of IgM in these patients. To our knowledge, these are the first reports of IgM persistence in the context of SARS-CoV-2 infection and point to the need for no longer using IgM as a diagnostic criterion for acute or recent COVID-19. One should opt for gold standard molecular methodologies due to their high sensitivity and specificity. 展开更多

Cough is one of the most common symptoms observed in patients presenting with COVID-19,persisting for an extended duration following SARS-CoV-2 infection. We aim to describe the distribution of airway microbiota and explore its role in patients with post-CovID-19 chronic cough.A total of 57 patients experiencing persistent cough after infection were recruited during the Omicron wave of SARS-CoV-2 in China.Airway microbiota profiling is assessed in nasopharyngeal swab, nasal lavage, and induced sputum samples at 4 and 8 weeks after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Our findings reveal that bacterial families Staph-ylococcaceae,Corynebacteriaceae,and Enterobacteriaceae are the most prevalent in the upper airway, while Streptococcaceae,Lachnospiraceae, and Prevotellaceae emerge as the most prevalent bacterial families in the lower airway. An increase in the abundance of Staphylococcus in nasopharyngeal swab samples and of Streptococcus in induced sputum samples is observed after one month.Furthermore, the abundance of Staphylococcus identified in nasopharyngeal swab samples at the baseline period emerges as an insightful predictor for improvement in cough severity. In conclusion, dynamic alterations in the airway microbial composition may contribute to the post-coviD-19 chronic cough progression, while the compositional signatures of nasopharyngeal microbiota could reflect the improvement of this disease. 展开更多
