The instability of slope blocks occurred frequently along traffic corridor in Southeastern Tibet(TCST),which was primarily controlled by the rock mass structures.A rapid method evaluating the control effects of rock mass structures was proposed through field statistics of the slopes and rock mass structures along TCST,which combined the stereographic projection method, modified M-JCS model, and limit equilibrium theory. The instabilities of slope blocks along TCST were then evaluated rapidly, and the different control factors of instability were analyzed. Results showed that the probabilities of toppling(5.31%),planar(16.15%),and wedge(35.37%)failure of slope blocks along TCST increased sequentially. These instability modes were respectively controlled by the anti-dip joint, the joint parallel to slope surface with a dip angle smaller than the slope angle(singlejoint),and two groups of joints inclined out of the slope(double-joints).Regarding the control effects on slope block instability, the stabilization ability of doublejoints(72.7%),anti-dip joint(67.4%),and single-joint(57.6%)decreased sequentially, resulting in different probabilities of slope block instability.Additionally, nearby regional faults significantly influenced the joints, leading to spatial heterogeneity and segmental clustering in the stabilization ability provided by joints to the slope blocks.Consequently, the stability of slope blocks gradually weakened as they approached the fault zones. This paper can provide guidance and assistance for investigating the development characteristics of rock mass structures and the stability of slope blocks. 展开更多

A new method to obtain numerical solution of Acoustic Transfer Function (ATF) by BEM is presented. For a simply supported panel backed by a rectangular cavity at low frequency band (0-200 Hz), the frequency property of ATF is analyzed. The relation between the accuracy of the rapid evaluation of sound field and the discretization schemes of the vibrational panel is discussed. The result shows that the method to obtain ATF and the rapid evaluation of sound field using the ATF is suitable to low frequency band. If an appropriate discretization scheme is choosed based on the frequency involved and the effort to obtain ATF, the accuracy of the rapid evaluation of sound field is acceptable. 展开更多

Specifically, EUS plays a pivotal role evaluating patients with a known or suspected pancreatic mass. In this setting, differential diagnosis remains a clinical challenge. EUS-guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and fine-needle biopsy (FNB) have been proven to be safe and useful tools in this setting. EUS-guided FNA and FNB, by obtaining cytological and/or histological samples, are able to diagnose pancreatic lesions with high sensitivity and specificity. In this context, several methodological features, trying to increase the diagnostic yield of EUS-guided FNA and FNB, have been evaluated. In this review, we focus on the role of rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE). From data reported in the literature, ROSE may increase diagnostic yield of EUS-FNA specimens by 10%-30%, and thus, diagnostic accuracy. However, we should point out that many recent studies have reported adequacy rates of > 90% without ROSE, indicating that, perhaps, at high-volume centers, ROSE may not be indispensable to achieve excellent results. The use of ROSE can be considered important during the learning curve of EUS-FNA, and also in hospital with diagnostic accuracy rates < 90%. 展开更多

The evaluation of engineering rock mass quality is fundamental work for the engineering activities of rock mass. The increasing scale of rock mass engineering necessitates higher intelligence, timeliness, and accuracy in engineering rock mass quality evaluation. As the core aspects of engineering rock mass quality evaluation, the structural characteristics, mechanical characteristics, and quality classification of rock mass have been innovated in recent years. The non-contact measurement technology for rock mass structure and rapid interpretation of rock mass structure information enables the intelligent extraction and analysis of rock mass structure parameters. The modular backpack laboratory system of rock mechanics provides an effective means to acquire rock mechanical parameters on-site conveniently. The theory of statistical mechanics of rock mass(SMRM)integrates various factors such as the rock mass properties, geological environment, and engineering disturbance, providing a theoretical basis for accurately evaluating the weakening and anisotropy of rock mass. The cloud computing platform established based on SMRM can provide technical support for the rapid calculation of rock mass parameters and instant evaluation of the rock mass quality. The development of intelligent evaluation method and technology is altering the conventional technical state of qualitative and semi-quantitative evaluation of engineering rock mass quality, supporting the realization of rock mass engineering construction with intellectualization and informatization. 展开更多

Background:Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)-guided fine needle aspiration(FNA)has become the preferred method to diagnose pancreatic masses due to its minimally invasive approach and diagnostic accuracy. Many studies have shown that rapid on-site evaluation(ROSE)improves diagnostic yield by 10–30%;however,more recent studies have demonstrated effective diagnostic accuracy rates without ROSE.Our study aims to examine whether the current standard of performing ROSE after each FNA pass adds diagnostic value during EUS-guided FNA of pancreatic masses. Methods:We conducted a retrospective case series on patients who underwent EUS-guided FNA of pancreatic masses between February 2011 and October 2014.All cases were performed by one of three endoscopists at Emory University Hospital.Patient demographics, radiologic details of pancreatic masses and pathology reports of the biopsied pancreatic masses were examined. Results:A total of 184 procedures performed in 171 patients were reviewed. The final pathology reports of the biopsied pancreatic masses showed 128(70%)with confirmed malignancy.Only 64(50%)of these 128 cases initially showed malignant cells during ROSE.Among these 64 cases,23%required 5 or more FNA passes to first detect malignant cells. Conclusions:The use of ROSE during EUS-guided FNA of pancreatic masses may increase the diagnostic yield, since malignant cells were often detected during later FNA passes that would otherwise be missed if tissue sampling stopped prematurely. In addition, sample preparation for ROSE may be suboptimal, since malignant cells were only detected in 50%of cases. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Castleman disease, also known as giant lymph node hyperplasia, was first reported in 1956. It is a rare benign proliferative pathological change of the lymph nodes.CASE SUMMARY The patient, a 33-year-old woman, had epigastric distension for half a year.Examinations were performed in a local hospital. Computed tomography scan showed round soft tissue nodules, about 5.45 cm in diameter, in the hepaticgastric space. Endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration was performed on the patient. Rapid on-site evaluation, hematoxylin eosin staining and histopathology of the puncture smear was performed. According to the Diff-Quik staining and hematoxylin eosin staining results of preoperative endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration puncture smears as well as the immunohistochemistry results, Castleman disease was highly suspected. A sufficient preoperative evaluation was made, and a precise surgical plan was developed. Postoperative pathology confirmed Castleman disease.CONCLUSION Endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration can extract internal tissues of the tumor for histological and cytological examinations and provide accurate diagnosis as much as possible. Therefore, a sufficient preoperative evaluation can be made, and a precise surgical plan can be developed. 展开更多

The latest iteration of PaveVision3D Ultra can obtain true 1 mm resolution 3D data at full- lane coverage in all 3 directions at highway speed up to 60 mph. This paper introduces the PaveVision3D Ultra technology for rapid network level pavement survey on approximately 1280 center miles of Oklahoma interstate highways. With sophisticated automated distress analyzer (ADA) software interface, the collected 1 mm 3D data provide Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) with comprehensive solutions for automated eval- uation of pavement surface including longitudinal profile for roughness, transverse profile for rutting, predicted hydroplaning speed for safety analysis, and cracking and various surface defects for distresses. The pruned exact linear time (PELT) method, an optimal partitioning algorithm, is implemented to identify change points and dynamically deter- mine homogeneous segments so as to assist ODOT effectively using the available 1 mm 3D pavement surface condition data for decision-making. The application of 1 mm 3D laser imaging technology for network survey is unprecedented. This innovative technology allows highway agencies to access its options in using the 1 mm 3D system for its design and management purposes, particularly to meet the data needs for pavement management system (PMS), pavement ME design and highway performance monitoring system (HPMS). 展开更多

Due to the complexity of influence factors in the nanoparticles adsorption method and the limitation of data samples, the support vector machine (SVM) was used in the prediction method for the drag reduction effect. The basic concept of SVM was introduced, and the e - SVR programming for the kemel function on the radial basis was established firstly with the help of the MATLAB software. Then, an analysis was made for the influencing factors of the drag reduction effect in nanoparticles adsorption. Finally, a prediction model for the drag reduction effect of nanoparticles was established, and the accuracy of training sample and prediction sample was analyzed. The result shows that the SVM has good availability and can be used as a rapid evaluation method of the drag reduction effect prediction of nanoparticles adsorption method. 展开更多
