BACKGROUND Little is known about the engagement in hepatitis C virus(HCV)care and completion of HCV treatment in people living with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)(PLWH)who have HCV coinfection in the Asia-Pacific r...BACKGROUND Little is known about the engagement in hepatitis C virus(HCV)care and completion of HCV treatment in people living with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)(PLWH)who have HCV coinfection in the Asia-Pacific region.Examining the HCV care cascade can identify barriers to the completion of HCV treatment and facilitate achievement of HCV micro-elimination in PLWH.AIM To investigate the care cascade of incident HCV infections among PLWH in Taiwan.METHODS PLWH with incident HCV infections,defined as HCV seroconversion,were retrospectively identified by sequential anti-HCV testing of all archived blood samples at National Taiwan University Hospital between 2011 and 2018.All PLWH with incident HCV infections were followed until December 31,2019.The care cascade of HCV examined included all incident HCV-infected patients,the percentages of anti-HCV antibodies detected by HIV-treating physicians in clinical care,plasma HCV RNA load tested,HCV RNA positivity diagnosed,referral to treatment assessment made,anti-HCV treatment initiated,and sustained virologic response achieved.Those who had HCV seroconversion during the interferon(IFN)era(2011–2016)and the direct-acting antiviral(DAA)era(2017–2018)were analyzed separately.The duration of HCV viremia—from the date of seroconversion to viral clearance by treatments or until the end of observation—and the incidence of sexually transmitted infections(STIs)during the HCV viremic period were estimated.RESULTS During the study period,287 of 3495(8.2%)PLWH(92.3%being men who have sex with men)who were HCV-seronegative at baseline developed HCV seroconversion by retrospective testing of all archived blood samples.Of the 287 incident HCV infections,277(96.5%)had anti-HCV antibodies detected by HIV-treating physicians,270(94.1%)had plasma HCV RNA determined and 251(87.5%)tested positive for HCV RNA.Of those with HCV viremia,226(78.7%)were referred to treatment assessment,215(74.9%)initiated anti-HCV treatment,and 202(70.4%)achieved viral clearance.Compared with that in the IFN era,the median interval from HCV seroconversion by retrospective testing to detection of HCV seropositivity by HIV-treating physicians was significantly shorter in the DAA era{179 d[interquartile range(IQR)87-434]vs 92 d(IQR 57-173);P<0.001}.The incidence rate of STIs in the DAA vs the IFN era was 50.5 per 100 person-years of follow-up(PYFU)and 38.5 per 100 PYFU,respectively,with an incidence rate ratio of 1.31(95%confidence interval 0.96-1.77),while the duration of HCV viremia was 380 d(IQR 274-554)and 735 d(IQR 391-1447)(P<0.001),respectively.CONCLUSION While anti-HCV therapies are effective in achieving viral clearance,our study suggests more efforts are needed to expedite the linkage of PLWH diagnosed with incident HCV infections to HCV treatment.展开更多

The disciplines represented in the project are related to climatology, anthropology, marine biology, economics, and the broad spectrum of social-ecological studies. Team members were drawn from the Nordic countries, Russia, China, the United States, and Canada. The project was transdisciplinary as well as interdisciplinary as it included collaboration with local knowledge holders. ARCPATH made significant contributions to Arctic research through an improved understanding of the mechanisms that drive climate variability in the Arctic. In tandem with this research, a combination of historical investigations and social, economic, and marine biological fieldwork was carried out for the project study areas of Iceland, Greenland, Norway, and the surrounding seas, with a focus on the joint use of ocean and sea-ice data as well as social-ecological drivers. ARCPATH was able to provide an improved framework for predicting the near-term variation of Arctic climate on spatial scales relevant to society, as well as evaluating possible related changes in socioeconomic realms. In summary, through the integration of information from several different disciplines and research approaches, ARCPATH served to create new and valuable knowledge on crucial issues, thus providing new pathways to action for Arctic communities.展开更多

However, zinc anodes are subject to unavoidable zin...Zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs) are recognized as potential energy storage devices due to their advantages of low cost, high energy density, and environmental friendliness. However, zinc anodes are subject to unavoidable zinc dendrites, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution reactions during the charging and discharging of batteries, becoming obstacles to the practical application of ZIBs. Appropriate zinc metal-free anodes provide a higher working potential than metallic zinc anodes, effectively solving the problems of zinc dendrites, hydrogen evolution, and side reactions during the operation of metallic zinc anodes. The improvement in the safety and cycle life of batteries creates conditions for further commercialization of ZIBs. Therefore, this work systematically introduces the research progress of zinc metal-free anodes in “rocking chair” ZIBs. Zinc metal-free anodes are mainly discussed in four categories: transition metal oxides,transition metal sulfides, MXene(two dimensional transition metal carbide) composites, and organic compounds, with discussions on their properties and zinc storage mechanisms. Finally, the outlook for the development of zinc metal-free anodes is proposed. This paper is expected to provide a reference for the further promotion of commercial rechargeable ZIBs.展开更多

Depression,a common mental illness,seriously affects the health of individuals and has deleterious effects on society.The prevention and treatment of depression has drawn the attention of many researchers and has beco...Depression,a common mental illness,seriously affects the health of individuals and has deleterious effects on society.The prevention and treatment of depression has drawn the attention of many researchers and has become an important social issue.The treatment strategies for depression include drugs,psychotherapy,and physiotherapy.Drug therapy is ineffective in some patients and psychotherapy has treatment limitations.As a reliable adjuvant therapy,physiotherapy compensates for the shortcomings of drug and psychotherapy and effectively reduces the disease recurrence rate.Physiotherapy is more scientific and rigorous,its methods are diverse,and to a certain extent,provides more choices for the treatment of depression.Physiotherapy can relieve symptoms in many ways,such as by improving the levels of neurobiochemical molecules,inhibiting the inflammatory response,regulating the neuroendocrine system,and increasing neuroplasticity.Physiotherapy has biological effects similar to those of antidepressants and may produce a superimposed impact when combined with other treatments.This article summarizes the findings on the use of physiotherapy to treat patients with depression over the past five years.It also discusses several methods of physiotherapy for treating depression from the aspects of clinical effect,mechanism of action,and disadvantages,thereby serving as a reference for the in-depth development of physiotherapy research.展开更多
Objective:To analyze the clinical efficacy,progression-free survival,and safety of anlotinib in the treatment of advanced lung cancer.Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted using data from 60 patients with adv...Objective:To analyze the clinical efficacy,progression-free survival,and safety of anlotinib in the treatment of advanced lung cancer.Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted using data from 60 patients with advanced lung cancer treated with anlotinib from May 2019 to May 2021.This analysis aimed to comprehensively evaluate the clinical efficacy,progression-free survival,and adverse reactions of anlotinib.Results:The median progression-free survival(PFS)for the 60 patients was 5.79 months,with an overall response rate(ORR)of 21%and a disease control rate(DCR)of 90%.In the first-line group,the median PFS was 6.20 months,ORR was 76.92%,and DCR was 84.61%.The second-line group showed a median PFS of 6.30 months,ORR of 28.57%,and DCR of 90.48%.In the third-line group,the median PFS was 5.34 months,ORR was 19.23%,and DCR was 92.30%.The single-agent group exhibited a median PFS of 5.09 months,ORR of 23.33%,and DCR of 76.67%.In the combination group,the median PFS was 6.53 months,ORR was 46.67%,and DCR was 100%.The combination group demonstrated a significantly higher medication effect than the single-drug group,and adverse drug reactions were mostly grade 1-2.Conclusion:Anlotinib exhibits a better disease control rate and survival benefit in the treatment of advanced lung cancer.The combination effect is superior to monotherapy,with relatively controllable adverse effects.展开更多

Both p- and s-polarized beams ill the proposed setup experience once the +lst-order diffraction and once the lst-order diffraction by tile grating. As a result, the phase of each beam remains unchanged and the interference fringes formed by the two beams are not expected to move when the grating is translated in the grating vector direction. We perform an experiment to confirm this prediction. Both our analysis and experimental observation cast doubt on the experimental results of the authors who proposed the interferometer.展开更多

Atmospheric chemistry research has been growing rapidly in China in the last 25 years since the concept of the“air pollution complex”was first proposed by Professor Xiaoyan TANG in 1997.For papers published in 2021 ...Atmospheric chemistry research has been growing rapidly in China in the last 25 years since the concept of the“air pollution complex”was first proposed by Professor Xiaoyan TANG in 1997.For papers published in 2021 on air pollution(only papers included in the Web of Science Core Collection database were considered),more than 24000 papers were authored or co-authored by scientists working in China.In this paper,we review a limited number of representative and significant studies on atmospheric chemistry in China in the last few years,including studies on(1)sources and emission inventories,(2)atmospheric chemical processes,(3)interactions of air pollution with meteorology,weather and climate,(4)interactions between the biosphere and atmosphere,and(5)data assimilation.The intention was not to provide a complete review of all progress made in the last few years,but rather to serve as a starting point for learning more about atmospheric chemistry research in China.The advances reviewed in this paper have enabled a theoretical framework for the air pollution complex to be established,provided robust scientific support to highly successful air pollution control policies in China,and created great opportunities in education,training,and career development for many graduate students and young scientists.This paper further highlights that developing and low-income countries that are heavily affected by air pollution can benefit from these research advances,whilst at the same time acknowledging that many challenges and opportunities still remain in atmospheric chemistry research in China,to hopefully be addressed over the next few decades.展开更多
During the recent four decades since 1980,a series of modern climate satellites were launched,allowing for the measurement and record-keeping of multiple climate parameters,especially over the polar regions where trad...During the recent four decades since 1980,a series of modern climate satellites were launched,allowing for the measurement and record-keeping of multiple climate parameters,especially over the polar regions where traditional observations are difficult to obtain.China has been actively engaging in polar expeditions.Many observations were conducted during this period,accompanied by improved Earth climate models,leading to a series of insightful understandings concerning Arctic and Antarctic climate changes.Here,we review the recent progress China has made concerning Arctic and Antarctic climate change research over the past decade.The Arctic temperature increase is much higher than the global-mean warming rate,associated with a rapid decline in sea ice,a phenomenon called the Arctic Amplification.The Antarctic climate changes showed a zonally asymmetric pattern over the past four decades,with most of the fastest changes occurring over West Antarctica and the Antarctic Peninsula.The Arctic and Antarctic climate changes were driven by anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions and ozone loss,while tropical-polar teleconnections play important roles in driving the regional climate changes and extreme events over the polar regions.Polar climate changes may also feedback to the entire Earth climate system.The adjustment of the circulation in both the troposphere and the stratosphere contributed to the interactions between the polar climate changes and lower latitudes.Climate change has also driven rapid Arctic and Southern ocean acidification.Chinese researchers have made a series of advances in understanding these processes,as reviewed in this paper.展开更多

Their consequences, sometimes irreversible, are the cause of major handicaps. The aim of our work was to describe the epidemiological and lesional aspects of hand trauma in the Orthopedics-Traumatology department of the CHU Aristide Le DANTEC. Material and Method: This was a continuous retrospective study over a period of 2 years. From June 1, 2015, to December 31, 2016, concerning all patients who came for a trauma recent hand, followed and whose file was found and completed. Results: Of 351 patients, we retained 291, 247 men for 44 women, aged in average age of 34 and carrying out different activities with a predominance of workers manuals (78.01%). Most of them came from the Dakar region (75.26%). THE work accidents predominated with 47.08%. The involvement of the right side was 58.76% of cases and concerned the dominant side in 56.35%. On the lesion level, there were 36.4% osteo-articular lesions, 30.58% lesions of the parts soft, 23% nail lesions and 9.9% complex lesions associating at least 3 lesions elementary. Conclusion: Recent hand injuries account for 13.49% of injuries in our service;they are severe, affecting the different structures of the hand, either singly or jointly. They involve the functional prognosis of the hand with socio-professional repercussions important.展开更多

The Western Sahel, which comprises Mali is c...Rainfall and temperature variability analysis is important for researchers and policy formulators in making critical decisions on water availability and use in communities. The Western Sahel, which comprises Mali is considered as one of the vulnerable regions to climate change, and also encountered the challenges of climatic shocks such as flood and drought. This research therefore sought to investigate climate change effects on hydrological events and trends in Sahelian rainfall intensity using Bamako (Mali) as a case study from 1991 to 2020, as limited data availability did not allow an extended period of study. Monthly observed data provided by MALI-METEO was used to validate daily rainfalls data from African Rainfall Climatology Version 2 (ARC2) satellite-based rainfall product on monthly basis. The validated model performance used Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) and Percent Bias (PBAIS) and gave results of 0.904 and 1.0506 respectively. Trends in annual maximum temperatures and rainfalls were analyzed using Mann-Kendall trend test. The result indicated that the trend in annual maximum rainfalls was decreasing, while annual total rainfall was increasing but not significant at 5% significance level. The rate of increase in annual total rainfalls was 0.475 mm/year according to the observed annual rainfall series and decreased to 0.68 mm/year in annual maximum. The analysis further found that annual maximum temperatures were increasing at the rate of 0.03°C/year at 5% significance level. To provide more accurate climate predictions, it is recommended that further studies on rainfall and temperature with data sets spanning 60 - 90 years be carried out.展开更多

For those who diagnose and treat RCC, it is important to understand the new developments. In recent years, many new renal tumors have been described and defined, and our understanding of the biology and clinical correlates of these tumors is changing. Evolving concepts in Xp11 translocation carcinoma, mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma, multilocular cystic clear cell RCC, and carcinoma associated with neuroblastoma are addressed within this review. Tubulocystic carcinoma, thyroid-like follicular carcinoma of kidney, acquired cystic disease-associated RCC, and clear cell papillary RCC are also described. Finally, candidate entities, including RCC with t(6;11) translocation, hybrid oncocytoma/chromophobe RCC, hereditary leiomyomatosis and RCC syndrome, and renal angiomyoadenomatous tumor are reviewed. Knowledge of these new entities is important for diagnosis, treatment and subsequent prognosis. This review provides a targeted summary of new developments in RCC.展开更多

Qomolangma in May 1997, a 41m ice core was recovered from an elevation of 6500m from the northern branch firn basin of the Far East Rongbuk Glacier in Mt. Everest. The ice core was dated down to 1814 by counting δ 18 O peaks and referring to the variations of β activity and major ion concentrations. The average annual accumulation is 224mm (ice equivalent). Five cold periods and five warm periods have been reconstructed from the ice core for the last 200 years and the general tendency of climatic change is warming, which is agree with the temperature change in the Northern Hemisphere. Also the climatic records in Far East Rongbuk ice core has good agreement with that in the Guliya ice core. This indicates that the climatic changes are consistent in the northwestern and southern Qinghai—Tibetan Plateau, and the ranges of climatic changes are larger in southern Plateau than that in northwestern Plateau. Though the δ 18 O variations has some negatively correlation with precipitation amount for short time scale, these do not effect δ 18 O changes reflecting temperature for long time scale.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND Little is known about the engagement in hepatitis C virus(HCV)care and completion of HCV treatment in people living with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)(PLWH)who have HCV coinfection in the Asia-Pacific region.Examining the HCV care cascade can identify barriers to the completion of HCV treatment and facilitate achievement of HCV micro-elimination in PLWH.AIM To investigate the care cascade of incident HCV infections among PLWH in Taiwan.METHODS PLWH with incident HCV infections,defined as HCV seroconversion,were retrospectively identified by sequential anti-HCV testing of all archived blood samples at National Taiwan University Hospital between 2011 and 2018.All PLWH with incident HCV infections were followed until December 31,2019.The care cascade of HCV examined included all incident HCV-infected patients,the percentages of anti-HCV antibodies detected by HIV-treating physicians in clinical care,plasma HCV RNA load tested,HCV RNA positivity diagnosed,referral to treatment assessment made,anti-HCV treatment initiated,and sustained virologic response achieved.Those who had HCV seroconversion during the interferon(IFN)era(2011–2016)and the direct-acting antiviral(DAA)era(2017–2018)were analyzed separately.The duration of HCV viremia—from the date of seroconversion to viral clearance by treatments or until the end of observation—and the incidence of sexually transmitted infections(STIs)during the HCV viremic period were estimated.RESULTS During the study period,287 of 3495(8.2%)PLWH(92.3%being men who have sex with men)who were HCV-seronegative at baseline developed HCV seroconversion by retrospective testing of all archived blood samples.Of the 287 incident HCV infections,277(96.5%)had anti-HCV antibodies detected by HIV-treating physicians,270(94.1%)had plasma HCV RNA determined and 251(87.5%)tested positive for HCV RNA.Of those with HCV viremia,226(78.7%)were referred to treatment assessment,215(74.9%)initiated anti-HCV treatment,and 202(70.4%)achieved viral clearance.Compared with that in the IFN era,the median interval from HCV seroconversion by retrospective testing to detection of HCV seropositivity by HIV-treating physicians was significantly shorter in the DAA era{179 d[interquartile range(IQR)87-434]vs 92 d(IQR 57-173);P<0.001}.The incidence rate of STIs in the DAA vs the IFN era was 50.5 per 100 person-years of follow-up(PYFU)and 38.5 per 100 PYFU,respectively,with an incidence rate ratio of 1.31(95%confidence interval 0.96-1.77),while the duration of HCV viremia was 380 d(IQR 274-554)and 735 d(IQR 391-1447)(P<0.001),respectively.CONCLUSION While anti-HCV therapies are effective in achieving viral clearance,our study suggests more efforts are needed to expedite the linkage of PLWH diagnosed with incident HCV infections to HCV treatment.

文摘This paper celebrates Professor Yongqi GAO's significant achievement in the field of interdisciplinary studies within the context of his final research project Arctic Climate Predictions: Pathways to Resilient Sustainable Societies-ARCPATH(https://www.svs.is/en/projects/finished-projects/arcpath). The disciplines represented in the project are related to climatology, anthropology, marine biology, economics, and the broad spectrum of social-ecological studies. Team members were drawn from the Nordic countries, Russia, China, the United States, and Canada. The project was transdisciplinary as well as interdisciplinary as it included collaboration with local knowledge holders. ARCPATH made significant contributions to Arctic research through an improved understanding of the mechanisms that drive climate variability in the Arctic. In tandem with this research, a combination of historical investigations and social, economic, and marine biological fieldwork was carried out for the project study areas of Iceland, Greenland, Norway, and the surrounding seas, with a focus on the joint use of ocean and sea-ice data as well as social-ecological drivers. ARCPATH was able to provide an improved framework for predicting the near-term variation of Arctic climate on spatial scales relevant to society, as well as evaluating possible related changes in socioeconomic realms. In summary, through the integration of information from several different disciplines and research approaches, ARCPATH served to create new and valuable knowledge on crucial issues, thus providing new pathways to action for Arctic communities.

文摘Zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs) are recognized as potential energy storage devices due to their advantages of low cost, high energy density, and environmental friendliness. However, zinc anodes are subject to unavoidable zinc dendrites, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution reactions during the charging and discharging of batteries, becoming obstacles to the practical application of ZIBs. Appropriate zinc metal-free anodes provide a higher working potential than metallic zinc anodes, effectively solving the problems of zinc dendrites, hydrogen evolution, and side reactions during the operation of metallic zinc anodes. The improvement in the safety and cycle life of batteries creates conditions for further commercialization of ZIBs. Therefore, this work systematically introduces the research progress of zinc metal-free anodes in “rocking chair” ZIBs. Zinc metal-free anodes are mainly discussed in four categories: transition metal oxides,transition metal sulfides, MXene(two dimensional transition metal carbide) composites, and organic compounds, with discussions on their properties and zinc storage mechanisms. Finally, the outlook for the development of zinc metal-free anodes is proposed. This paper is expected to provide a reference for the further promotion of commercial rechargeable ZIBs.

文摘Undoubtedly,the enormous progress observed in recent years in the Ni-rich layered cathode materials has been crucial in terms of pushing boundaries of the Li-ion battery(LIB)technology.The achieved improvements in the energy density,cyclability,charging speed,reduced costs,as well as safety and stability,already contribute to the wider adoption of LIBs,which extends nowadays beyond mobile electronics,power tools,and electric vehicles,to the new range of applications,including grid storage solutions.With numerous published papers and broad reviews already available on the subject of Ni-rich oxides,this review focuses more on the most recent progress and new ideas presented in the literature references.The covered topics include doping and composition optimization,advanced coating,concentration gradient and single crystal materials,as well as innovations concerning new electrolytes and their modification,with the application of Ni-rich cathodes in solid-state batteries also discussed.Related cathode materials are briefly mentioned,with the high-entropy approach and zero-strain concept presented as well.A critical overview of the still unresolved issues is given,with perspectives on the further directions of studies and the expected gains provided.
文摘Depression,a common mental illness,seriously affects the health of individuals and has deleterious effects on society.The prevention and treatment of depression has drawn the attention of many researchers and has become an important social issue.The treatment strategies for depression include drugs,psychotherapy,and physiotherapy.Drug therapy is ineffective in some patients and psychotherapy has treatment limitations.As a reliable adjuvant therapy,physiotherapy compensates for the shortcomings of drug and psychotherapy and effectively reduces the disease recurrence rate.Physiotherapy is more scientific and rigorous,its methods are diverse,and to a certain extent,provides more choices for the treatment of depression.Physiotherapy can relieve symptoms in many ways,such as by improving the levels of neurobiochemical molecules,inhibiting the inflammatory response,regulating the neuroendocrine system,and increasing neuroplasticity.Physiotherapy has biological effects similar to those of antidepressants and may produce a superimposed impact when combined with other treatments.This article summarizes the findings on the use of physiotherapy to treat patients with depression over the past five years.It also discusses several methods of physiotherapy for treating depression from the aspects of clinical effect,mechanism of action,and disadvantages,thereby serving as a reference for the in-depth development of physiotherapy research.

文摘Objective:To analyze the clinical efficacy,progression-free survival,and safety of anlotinib in the treatment of advanced lung cancer.Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted using data from 60 patients with advanced lung cancer treated with anlotinib from May 2019 to May 2021.This analysis aimed to comprehensively evaluate the clinical efficacy,progression-free survival,and adverse reactions of anlotinib.Results:The median progression-free survival(PFS)for the 60 patients was 5.79 months,with an overall response rate(ORR)of 21%and a disease control rate(DCR)of 90%.In the first-line group,the median PFS was 6.20 months,ORR was 76.92%,and DCR was 84.61%.The second-line group showed a median PFS of 6.30 months,ORR of 28.57%,and DCR of 90.48%.In the third-line group,the median PFS was 5.34 months,ORR was 19.23%,and DCR was 92.30%.The single-agent group exhibited a median PFS of 5.09 months,ORR of 23.33%,and DCR of 76.67%.In the combination group,the median PFS was 6.53 months,ORR was 46.67%,and DCR was 100%.The combination group demonstrated a significantly higher medication effect than the single-drug group,and adverse drug reactions were mostly grade 1-2.Conclusion:Anlotinib exhibits a better disease control rate and survival benefit in the treatment of advanced lung cancer.The combination effect is superior to monotherapy,with relatively controllable adverse effects.

文摘This study shows that the principle of a recently proposed connnon-path laser interferometer containing a planar grating is nonexistent and apparently caused by a mathematical derivation error. Both p- and s-polarized beams ill the proposed setup experience once the +lst-order diffraction and once the lst-order diffraction by tile grating. As a result, the phase of each beam remains unchanged and the interference fringes formed by the two beams are not expected to move when the grating is translated in the grating vector direction. We perform an experiment to confirm this prediction. Both our analysis and experimental observation cast doubt on the experimental results of the authors who proposed the interferometer.

文摘Atmospheric chemistry research has been growing rapidly in China in the last 25 years since the concept of the“air pollution complex”was first proposed by Professor Xiaoyan TANG in 1997.For papers published in 2021 on air pollution(only papers included in the Web of Science Core Collection database were considered),more than 24000 papers were authored or co-authored by scientists working in China.In this paper,we review a limited number of representative and significant studies on atmospheric chemistry in China in the last few years,including studies on(1)sources and emission inventories,(2)atmospheric chemical processes,(3)interactions of air pollution with meteorology,weather and climate,(4)interactions between the biosphere and atmosphere,and(5)data assimilation.The intention was not to provide a complete review of all progress made in the last few years,but rather to serve as a starting point for learning more about atmospheric chemistry research in China.The advances reviewed in this paper have enabled a theoretical framework for the air pollution complex to be established,provided robust scientific support to highly successful air pollution control policies in China,and created great opportunities in education,training,and career development for many graduate students and young scientists.This paper further highlights that developing and low-income countries that are heavily affected by air pollution can benefit from these research advances,whilst at the same time acknowledging that many challenges and opportunities still remain in atmospheric chemistry research in China,to hopefully be addressed over the next few decades.

文摘During the recent four decades since 1980,a series of modern climate satellites were launched,allowing for the measurement and record-keeping of multiple climate parameters,especially over the polar regions where traditional observations are difficult to obtain.China has been actively engaging in polar expeditions.Many observations were conducted during this period,accompanied by improved Earth climate models,leading to a series of insightful understandings concerning Arctic and Antarctic climate changes.Here,we review the recent progress China has made concerning Arctic and Antarctic climate change research over the past decade.The Arctic temperature increase is much higher than the global-mean warming rate,associated with a rapid decline in sea ice,a phenomenon called the Arctic Amplification.The Antarctic climate changes showed a zonally asymmetric pattern over the past four decades,with most of the fastest changes occurring over West Antarctica and the Antarctic Peninsula.The Arctic and Antarctic climate changes were driven by anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions and ozone loss,while tropical-polar teleconnections play important roles in driving the regional climate changes and extreme events over the polar regions.Polar climate changes may also feedback to the entire Earth climate system.The adjustment of the circulation in both the troposphere and the stratosphere contributed to the interactions between the polar climate changes and lower latitudes.Climate change has also driven rapid Arctic and Southern ocean acidification.Chinese researchers have made a series of advances in understanding these processes,as reviewed in this paper.

文摘Pleuromeia is an Early-Middle Triassic index lycopod plant,very significant for study of floral age,paleoecology and paleogeography.In recent years,the progresses in the study of Pleuromeia include the new taxon Pleuromeia shaolinii Zhang et Wang found from the Middle Triassic Lianjia flora in Benxi,China;and a new strobilus of Pleuromeia found from the Lower Triassic of Nevada,USA.Four species of Pleuromeia were selected by Mendelin et al.(2022)as the iconic taxa for four ages from the Lower to Middle Triassic in the world(including the Chinese species P.shaolinii),which is more significant for paleogeographic and evolutionary studies of Pleuromeia.
文摘Introduction: Hand injuries are frequent and serious. Their consequences, sometimes irreversible, are the cause of major handicaps. The aim of our work was to describe the epidemiological and lesional aspects of hand trauma in the Orthopedics-Traumatology department of the CHU Aristide Le DANTEC. Material and Method: This was a continuous retrospective study over a period of 2 years. From June 1, 2015, to December 31, 2016, concerning all patients who came for a trauma recent hand, followed and whose file was found and completed. Results: Of 351 patients, we retained 291, 247 men for 44 women, aged in average age of 34 and carrying out different activities with a predominance of workers manuals (78.01%). Most of them came from the Dakar region (75.26%). THE work accidents predominated with 47.08%. The involvement of the right side was 58.76% of cases and concerned the dominant side in 56.35%. On the lesion level, there were 36.4% osteo-articular lesions, 30.58% lesions of the parts soft, 23% nail lesions and 9.9% complex lesions associating at least 3 lesions elementary. Conclusion: Recent hand injuries account for 13.49% of injuries in our service;they are severe, affecting the different structures of the hand, either singly or jointly. They involve the functional prognosis of the hand with socio-professional repercussions important.
文摘Rainfall and temperature variability analysis is important for researchers and policy formulators in making critical decisions on water availability and use in communities. The Western Sahel, which comprises Mali is considered as one of the vulnerable regions to climate change, and also encountered the challenges of climatic shocks such as flood and drought. This research therefore sought to investigate climate change effects on hydrological events and trends in Sahelian rainfall intensity using Bamako (Mali) as a case study from 1991 to 2020, as limited data availability did not allow an extended period of study. Monthly observed data provided by MALI-METEO was used to validate daily rainfalls data from African Rainfall Climatology Version 2 (ARC2) satellite-based rainfall product on monthly basis. The validated model performance used Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) and Percent Bias (PBAIS) and gave results of 0.904 and 1.0506 respectively. Trends in annual maximum temperatures and rainfalls were analyzed using Mann-Kendall trend test. The result indicated that the trend in annual maximum rainfalls was decreasing, while annual total rainfall was increasing but not significant at 5% significance level. The rate of increase in annual total rainfalls was 0.475 mm/year according to the observed annual rainfall series and decreased to 0.68 mm/year in annual maximum. The analysis further found that annual maximum temperatures were increasing at the rate of 0.03°C/year at 5% significance level. To provide more accurate climate predictions, it is recommended that further studies on rainfall and temperature with data sets spanning 60 - 90 years be carried out.
文摘Our knowledge of renal cell carcinoma(RCC) is rapidly expanding. For those who diagnose and treat RCC, it is important to understand the new developments. In recent years, many new renal tumors have been described and defined, and our understanding of the biology and clinical correlates of these tumors is changing. Evolving concepts in Xp11 translocation carcinoma, mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma, multilocular cystic clear cell RCC, and carcinoma associated with neuroblastoma are addressed within this review. Tubulocystic carcinoma, thyroid-like follicular carcinoma of kidney, acquired cystic disease-associated RCC, and clear cell papillary RCC are also described. Finally, candidate entities, including RCC with t(6;11) translocation, hybrid oncocytoma/chromophobe RCC, hereditary leiomyomatosis and RCC syndrome, and renal angiomyoadenomatous tumor are reviewed. Knowledge of these new entities is important for diagnosis, treatment and subsequent prognosis. This review provides a targeted summary of new developments in RCC.
文摘During the Sino\|American Expedition to Mt. Qomolangma in May 1997, a 41m ice core was recovered from an elevation of 6500m from the northern branch firn basin of the Far East Rongbuk Glacier in Mt. Everest. The ice core was dated down to 1814 by counting δ 18 O peaks and referring to the variations of β activity and major ion concentrations. The average annual accumulation is 224mm (ice equivalent). Five cold periods and five warm periods have been reconstructed from the ice core for the last 200 years and the general tendency of climatic change is warming, which is agree with the temperature change in the Northern Hemisphere. Also the climatic records in Far East Rongbuk ice core has good agreement with that in the Guliya ice core. This indicates that the climatic changes are consistent in the northwestern and southern Qinghai—Tibetan Plateau, and the ranges of climatic changes are larger in southern Plateau than that in northwestern Plateau. Though the δ 18 O variations has some negatively correlation with precipitation amount for short time scale, these do not effect δ 18 O changes reflecting temperature for long time scale.
