The Doppler reflectometer(DR),a powerful diagnostic for the plasma perpendicular velocity(u⊥)and turbulence measurement,has been widely used in various fusion devices.Many efforts have been put into extracting the Doppler shift from the DR signal.There are several commonly used methods for Doppler shift extraction,such as the phase derivative,the center of gravity,and symmetric fitting(SFIT).However,the strong zero-order reflection component around 0 kHz may interfere with the calculation of the Doppler shift.To avoid the influence of the zerofrequency peak,the asymmetric fitting(AFIT)method was designed to calculate the Doppler shift.Nevertheless,the AFIT method may lead to an unacceptable error when the Doppler shift is relatively small compared to the half width at half maximum(HWHM).Therefore,an improved method,which can remove the zero-frequency peak and fit the remaining Doppler peak with a Gaussian function,is devised to extract the Doppler shift.This method can still work reliably whether the HWHM is larger than the Doppler shift or not. 展开更多

It can be used to measure the turbulence propagation in both plasma edge and confinement zone. The Doppler reflectometer system consists of two fixed frequency homodyne receivers: 15 GHz (corresponding to cutoff density of 0.3×10^19 m^-3) and 33 GHz (corresponding to cutoff density of 1.35× 10^19 m^-3). The Doppler reflectometry principle and the experimental arrangements on HL-2A are presented. Meanwhile, the experimental Doppler reflectometric spectra under different discharge conditions, with and without ECRH, were obtained. Furthermore, the turbulence propagation velocity change and the profile were also observed in different discharge conditions. 展开更多

The Michelson interferometer with arm difference of 4m is used to test the phase difference between the Rayleigh scattering from two sections of the fiber. A new demodulation method called the inverse transmission matrix demodulation scheme is utilized to demodulate the distributed phase from the backward scattering along the long fiber, The experimental results show that the 120°-phase-difference inter- ferometer φ-OTDR can detect the phase along the 3km fiber, and the acoustic signal within the whole human hearing range of 20 Hz-20 kHz is reproduced accurately and quickly. 展开更多

First, three new complex system constants are introduced,which depend only on the scattering parameters of the four-port reflectometer. Therefore, the stability of the reflectometer is greatly improved. Then, these complex system constants are used to determine the complex reflection coeffcient F of the device under test by calibrating the reflectometer. The resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) coils have been successfully designed and installed on the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST). Using the reflectometer systems, the density profile and the density fluctuations during magnetic perturbations (MPs) phase have been investigated. During the experiments, two different cases are studied separately: steady MPs and rotating MPs. In both cases, a strongly density pump-out has been observed. In the steady MPs cases, an enhancement of the low frequency (〈60 kHz) density fluctuations in H-mode phase has been observed. The plasma density boundary out-shifts 5~ caused by the MPs. The pedestal density gradient is reduced by 50%, while the radial location nearly stays unchanged. In the rotating MPs, the line-averaged density, the D~ emission at the divertor region and the spectrum of the density fluctuations are modulated. The results suggest that the low frequency (〈60 kHz) density fluctuations may contribute to the strong density pump-out. 展开更多

Interpreting experimental diagnostics data in tokamaks,while considering non-ideal effects,is challenging due to the complexity of plasmas.To address this challenge,a general synthetic diagnostics(GSD)platform has been established that facilitates microwave imaging reflectometry and electron cyclotron emission imaging.This platform utilizes plasma profiles as input and incorporates the finite-difference time domain,ray tracing and the radiative transfer equation to calculate the propagation of plasma spontaneous radiation and the external electromagnetic field in plasmas.Benchmark tests for classical cases have been conducted to verify the accuracy of every core module in the GSD platform.Finally,2D imaging of a typical electron temperature distribution is reproduced by this platform and the results are consistent with the given real experimental data.This platform also has the potential to be extended to 3D electromagnetic field simulations and other microwave diagnostics such as cross-polarization scattering. 展开更多

The microwave reflectometer is a popular non-intrusive plasma density diagnostic instrument on tokamaks that provides centimeter and millisecond level resolution.The ultrashort-pulse reflectometer(USPR)achieves plasma density measurement by emitting a chirped wave containing a broadband signal and measuring the time of flight from different frequency components.A USPR system is currently being built on EAST(Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak)to meet the needs of diagnostic of the pedestal density evolution,such as high-frequency small edge-localized modes.In order to predict the density reconstruction of the EAST USPR system,this work presents a numerical simulation study of the beam propagation of the chirped wave of extraordinary waves(X-mode)in the plasma based on Python.The electron density profile has been successfully reconstructed by the reflection signal interpretation.The small gap between the right-hand cut-off layer and the electron cyclotron resonance layer,due to the low plasma density on the plasma edge,causes unexpected leakage from the transmitting microwave beam to the pedestal and the core region.This kind of‘tunneling’effect will cause the reflected signal to have energy loss in the low-frequency band.The study also discusses the influence of the poloidal magnetic field on the reflected signal.The spatial variation of the poloidal magnetic field will lead to the conversion between extraordinary(X)waves and ordinary(O)waves,which leads to energy loss in the reflected signals.The simulation results show that the‘tunneling’effect and the O-X mode conversion effect have little effect on the EAST USPR system.Therefore,the currently designed transmit power meets the working requirements. 展开更多

The long-term settlement of calcareous sand foundations caused by daily periodic fluctuations has become a significant geological hazard,but effective monitoring tools to capture the deformation profiles are still rarely reported.In this study,a laboratory model test and an in situ monitoring test were conducted.An optical frequency domain reflectometer(OFDR)with high spatial resolution(1 mm)and high accuracy(10-6)was used to record the soil strain responses to groundwater table and varied loads.The results indicated that the fiber-optic measurements can accurately locate the swelling and compressive zones.During the loading process,the interlock between calcareous sand particles was detected,which increased the internal friction angle of soil.The foundation deformation above the sliding surface was dominated by compression,and the soil was continuously compressed beneath the sliding surface.After 26e48 h,calcareous sand swelling occurred gradually above the water table,which was primarily dependent on capillary water.The swelling of the soil beneath the groundwater table was completed rapidly within less than 2 h.When the groundwater table and load remain constant,the compression creep behavior can be described by the Yasong-Wang model with R2¼0.993.The daily periodically varying in situ deformation of calcareous sand primarily occurs between the highest and lowest groundwater tables,i.e.4.2e6.2 m deep.The tuff interlayers with poor water absorption capacity do not swell or compress,but they produce compressive strain under the influence of deformed calcareous sand layers. 展开更多

The W7-X stellarator is optimized with respect to neoclassical transport.Therefore turbulent transport plays an important role.It is equipped with an inertial cooled graphite divertor which intersects the island chain at the plasma edge depending on the magnetic configuration.Additional control coils and the plasma current modify the iota profile at the plasma edge and shift the position of the island chain.To monitor the effects on the poloidal propagation velocity in the scrape-off layer(SOL)and the plasma edge,an O-mode Poloidal Correlation Reflectometer(PCR)is used which simultaneously monitors the propagation of low-k turbulence.Operating in the density range of 0.6?×?1019 m-3 to2?×?1019 m-3 it covers a large part of the SOL and the plasma edge and allows for the experimental determination in the last closed flux surface(LCFS)and the associated shear layer in low to middensity discharges.In this paper it is shown that the propagation in the shear layer and its vicinity is determined best,when based on an elliptical model.Different magnetic configurations with magnetic edge topology of five independent islands forι?=?1 and six linked islands forι?=?0.81 are investigated.Also the effects of the plasma current and additional control coils on the edge magnetic topology are studied.The coherence spectra of antenna pairs for different poloidal separations is investigated.Using a decomposition method for the measured coherence spectra the characterization of turbulence spectra is possible with respect to e.g.broad band turbulence and quasi coherent modes.A strong reduction of the broad band turbulence is observed in the vicinity of the LCFS which is evidence for the suppression of low-k turbulence at the shear layer. 展开更多

The current trend in many developing countries used pavement conditions index-PCI in estimating maintenance costs. The PCI can only justify periodic and routine recurrent maintenance. The condition strength is rarely determined in a flexible pavement creating an opportunity for back long maintenance. This paper reports the study conducted to develop and improve the algorithm for estimating the adjusted structure number to estimate the remaining thickness of the flexible pavement. The analysis of eight ways of computing structure numbers from FWD data ware analyzed and found that the improvement of the HDM 3 - 4 models can influence the usefulness of data collected from road asset management in Tanzania. The algorithm for estimating structural numbers from CBR was improved to compute adjusted structural numbers finally used to estimate the remaining life of the flexible pavement. The analysis of the network of about 6900 km including ST and AM was found that 64.72% were very good, 12% were Good, 10% were fair and 7.84% were poor and 5.4% were very poor. 展开更多

Background:Cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure in ophthalmology.Biometry data and accurate intraocular lens(IOL)calculations are very important in achieving the desired refractive outcomes.The aim of this study was to compare measurements using a new optical low coherence reflectometry(OLCR)biometer(OA-2000)and the gold standard partial coherence interferometry(PCI)optical biometer(IOLMaster 500).Methods:Ocular biometry of cataract patients were measured by the OA-2000 and IOLMaster 500 to compare keratometry(K),axial length(AL),anterior chamber depth(ACD),white-to-white(WTW)diameter,and IOL power using the SRK/T formula.Results:One hundred and two eyes of 68 cataract patients were evaluated with the two optical biometers.The mean values of the AL,K,ACD,and WTW differed very little(OCLR biometer,23.12 mm,44.50 diopters(D),3.06,and 11.64 mm,respectively;PCI biometer,23.18 mm,44.6 D,3.15,and 11.86 mm,respectively),but the differences were significant(all,p≤0.05).The AL,K,and ACD showed excellent correlations(r=0.999,0.980,and 0.824,respectively;all p<0.001);however,there was a weak correlation of the WTW diameter between the two devices(r=0.256).The IOL powers using the SRK-T formula derived from both instruments were very similar,with an excellent correlation(r=0.989).The mean difference between the two instruments was 0.32 D.Conclusions:The OLCR biometer showed very a strong agreement with the standard PCI optical biometer for almost all ocular biometry measurements,except for the WTW diameter.Trial registration:TCTR20160614003;date 06/09/2016;‘retrospectively registered’. 展开更多

Based on the phase noise power spectrum density of both lasers, the laser phase is almost unchanged during an extremely short period of time, hence, the impact of phase noise can be suppressed effectively through phase difference between the Rayleigh scattered light from two adjacent sections of the fiber which define the gauge length. Based on the phase difference method, the external vibration can be located accurately at 41.01 km by the(φ-OTDR system incorporating these two lasers. Meanwhile, the average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the retrieved vibration signal by using Laser I is found to be -37.7 dB, which is comparable to that of -37.5 dB by using Laser II although the linewidth and the phase noise level of the two lasers are distinct. The obtained results indicate that the phase difference method can enhance the performance of(φ-OTDR system with laser phase-noise immunity for distributed vibration sensing, showing potential application in oil-gas pipeline monitoring, perimeter security, and other fields. 展开更多

The value of shift in the center of diffuse reflectance is directly related to the absorption coefficient μa and the effective attenuation coefficient μeff. μa and the reduced scattering coefficient μs' of human skin tissues in vivo are measured by oblique-incidence reflectometry based on the two-source diffuse theory model. For ten Chinese volunteers aged 15-63 years, μa and μs' are noninvasively determined to be 0.029 - 0.075 and 0.52 - 0.97 mm^-1, respectively. 展开更多

为了解决光时域反射仪(optical time domain reflectometer,OTDR)中背向散射信号受噪声干扰严重问题,本文提出了一种基于自适应噪声完备集合经验模态分解(complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise,CEEMDAN... 为了解决光时域反射仪(optical time domain reflectometer,OTDR)中背向散射信号受噪声干扰严重问题,本文提出了一种基于自适应噪声完备集合经验模态分解(complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise,CEEMDAN)和改进小波阈值的OTDR信号去噪算法,利用CEEMDAN分解算法具有的抗模态混叠现象和降低重构误差等优点,将信号分解为若干IMF分量,根据相关系数的分析方法,找到噪声占主导的本征模态函数(intrinsic mode function,IMF)分量和信号占主导的IMF分量的临界点,去除噪声占主导的IMF分量,并将改进的小波阈值去噪方法对信号占主导的IMF分量进行去噪,最后重构信号。结果表明,本文提出的方法与传统的硬阈值方法、CEEMDAN-硬阈值方法和改进的小波阈值方法相比,能更好地抑制噪声,并达到更好的去噪效果,突显OTDR事件特征,更易于事件的检测。 展开更多
