Considering the delay effect of initial lining and revising the Winkler elastic foundation model,an analytical approach based on Pasternak elastic foundation beam theory for pipe roof reinforcement was put forward. With the example of a certain tunnel excavation, the comparison of the values of longitudinal strain of reinforcing pipe between field monitoring and analytical approach was made. The results indicate that Pasternak model, which considers a more realistic hypothesis in the elastic soil than Winkler model, gives more accurate calculation and agrees better with the result of field monitoring. The difference of calculation results between these two models is about 7%,and Pasternak model is proved to be a better way to study the reinforcement mechanism and improve design practice. The calculation results also reveal that the reinforcing pipes act as levers, which increases longitudinal load transfer to an unexcavated area, and consequently decreases deformation and increases face stability. 展开更多

Study on efficient mining of the steep incline and fractured ore-bodies in Yongshaba mine of Guizhou Kailin Group shows that ore-body is fractured and difficult to support the roadways in-vein.After research of the actual conditions about the ore-bodies,we have made the initial decision to adopt reconstruction of roof downward sublevel cut-and-fill mining. The men work safely under the false roof supporting the top plate. However, the difficult problem is how to determine the strength of the false roof.In this case, the method based on reliability theory has been put forward.Combined with elastic mechanics and field practice, when practical value of reliable probability is 90 %,the value of the false roof strength has been calculated, and the study shows that stope span greatly influences the false roof strength. With the strength of artificial roof, the reasonable reinforcement design ensures the false roof which can supply the demand of strength under large span and load. 展开更多

The effect of reinforcing roof, sides and floor corners to control floor heave of extraction opening was analyzed, It was proved by engineering practice and numerical simulation that reinforcing any part of surrounding rock have certainly control effect for floor heave, in the basis of this, the new way that roof, sides and floor corners were rein-forced to control floor heave was put forward. Contrasting control result of reinforcing floor with this, it is determined that reinforcing is more suitable to control floor heave of extrac-tion opening than reinforcing floor when advancing abutment pressure is in some range. 展开更多

The effective reinforcement of two or more overlying layers of mine openings in a single installation is usually done by coupling of two standard rock bolts mainly during the extraction of medium-thick coal seams. However, field observations show that the couplers of multiple bolts often degrade or break mostly at their connections. These types of failures can be avoided by strengthening the couplers of such multi-bolts assemblies. To achieve this,a novel threaded coupler system with an expansion shell was suggested in this paper. The newly designed coupler consists of a threaded tapered-plug-cumconnector with an expansion shell for connecting and tightening two standard rock bolts. An analytical model for evaluating the load distribution along the coupler subject to axial load was derived.Numerical analysis was performed to analyse the load transfer, deformation, and strains across the coupler including the factor of safety for the bolt-coupler-resin and bolt-coupler-expansion shell. The results validated the analytical model of the proposed coupler design, which provides better anchorage near the interface of the host rock mass. Thus, the developed coupler design would reduce the failures of the proposed coupler and stabilize laminated roof strata above the medium-thick coal seams in underground mines. 展开更多
