Each slice may comprise thousands of discrete scanning beam positions. An optimized scanning path can decrease the transit dose and may bypass important organs. The minimization of the scanning path length can be considered as a variation of the traveling salesman problem; the simulated annealing algorithm is adopted to solve this problem. The initial scanning path is assumed as a simple zigzag path;subsequently, random searches for accepted new paths are performed through cost evaluation and criteria-based judging. To reduce the optimization time of a given slice, random searches are parallelized by employing thousands of threads. The simultaneous optimization of multiple slices is realized by using many thread blocks of generalpurpose computing on graphics processing units hardware.Running on a computer with an Intel i7-4790 CPU and NVIDIA K2200 GPU, our new method required only 1.3 s to obtain optimized scanning paths with a total of 40 slices in typically studied cases. The procedure and optimization results of this new method are presented in this work.展开更多

Aiming at a limitation that the fractal curve can only fill a square region, a method is developed to realize the trimming of fractal curve in arbitrary boundary layer by means of judging intersection points between parameterized arbitrary boundary and a FASS (space filling, self avoiding, simple and self similar) fractal curve. Accordingly, the related algorithm concerning with determining intersection points has been investigated according to the recursion feature of the fractal curve, and in the process of the fractal curve traversed, the rule of judging intersection points is ascertained as well, so that the laser scanning beam can “walk” along the fractal curve inside the desired boundary, and arbitrary contour components are fabricated.展开更多

There are many methods using either global context or local context cues to model human saccadic scan-paths. In contrast to them, this paper introduces a model for gaze movement control using both global and local cues. To test the performance of this model, an experiment is done to collect human eye movement data by using an SMI iVIEW X Hi-Speed eye tracker with a sampling rate of 1250 Hz. The experiment used a two-by-four mixed design with the location of the targets and the four initial positions. We compare the saccadic scan-paths generated by the proposed model against human eye movement data on a face benchmark dataset. Experimental results demonstrate that the simulated scan-paths by the proposed model are similar to human saccades in term of the fixation order, Hausdorff distance, and prediction accuracy for both static fixation locations and dynamic scan-paths.展开更多
