This review visualizes the knowledge domain of motor speech disorders(MSDs) in linguistics between 2000 and 2019 by means of scientometric methods. With topic searches, the study collected 869 bibliographic records and 20, 411 references from Web of Science Core Collection(WoSCC) of Thomson Reuter. The clustered and visualized document co-citation network of the MSDs knowledge domain in CiteSpace identifies 15 research foci in different periods, including apraxia of speech, acoustics, children, technology, aphemia, childhood apraxia of speech, primary progressive aphasia, speech motor delay, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, rhythm, foreign accent syndrome, phonation, phonological awareness, dose and speech perception.Revolving around linguistics, these foci could be divided into studies on speech characteristics of MSDs in terms of phonology and phonetics, remedies for MSDs in terms of neurolinguistics and acoustic phonetics, dysarthria secondary to neurological diseases based on pathological linguistics, subtypes of apraxia of speech, methods of MSDs based on auditory phonetics and a newly recognized subtype of MSDs. Meanwhile, the emerging trends of MSDs in linguistics are detected by the analysis of reference citation bursts, suggesting growing research in remedies for MSDs with the focus on assessments and effectiveness of treatments, speech characteristics and indexes of dysarthria secondary to neurological diseases and assistance to diagnose apraxia of speech. To sum up, the review has indicated that the acoustic measures to assess MSDs and acoustic remedies for dysarthria may not only be the past foci but also be future trends. 展开更多

Speech disorders are a common type of childhood disease.Through experimental intervention, this study aims to improve the vocabulary comprehension levels and language ability of children with speech disorders through the language cognition and emotional speech community method. We also conduct a statistical analysis of the inter-ventional effect.Among children with speech disorders in Dongguan City,224 were selected and grouped accord-ing to their receptive language ability and IQ.The 112 children in the experimental group(EG)received speech therapy with language cognitive and emotional speech community, while the 112 children in the control group(CG)only received conventional treatment. After six months of experimental intervention, the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised(PPVT-R)was used to test the language ability of the two groups.Overall,we employed a quantitative approach to obtain numerical values, examine the variables identified, and test hypotheses.Further-more,we used descriptive statistics to explore the research questions related to the study and statistically describe the overall distribution of the demographic variables. The statistical t-test was used to analyze the data. The data shows that after intervention through language cognition and emotional speech community therapy, the PPVT-R score of the EG was significantly higher than that of the CG.Therefore,we conclude that there is a significant difference in language ability between the EG and CG after the therapy.Although both groups improved, the post-therapy language level of EG is significantly higher than that of CG.The total effective rate in EG is higher than CG,and the difference is statistically significant(p<0.05).Therefore,we conclude that the language cogni-tion and emotional speech community method is effective as an interventional treatment of children’s speech dis-orders and that it is more effective than traditional treatment methods. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor(anti-NMDAR)encephalitis is a treatable but frequently misdiagnosed autoimmune disease.Speech dysfunction,as one of the common manifestations of anti-NMDAR encephalitis,is usually reported as a symptom secondary to psychiatric symptoms or seizures rather than the initial symptom in a paroxysmal form.We report a case of anti-NMDAR encephalitis with paroxysmal speech disorder as a rare initial manifestation, and hope that it will contribute to the literature.CASE SUMMARY A 39-year-old man with anti-NMDAR encephalitis initially presented with paroxysmal nonfluent aphasia and was misdiagnosed with a transient ischemic attack and cerebral infarction successively. The patient subsequently presented with seizures, but no abnormalities were found on brain magnetic resonance imaging or electroencephalogram.Cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)analysis revealed mild pleocytosis and increased protein levels.Anti-NMDAR antibodies in serum and CSF were detected for a conclusive diagnosis. After immunotherapy, the patient made a full recovery.CONCLUSION This case suggests that paroxysmal speech disorder may be the presenting symptom of anti-NMDAR encephalitis in a young patient. 展开更多

Smoothed cepstral peak prominence(CPPs)is a measurement of the distance from the prominent cepstral peak to the linear regression line directly beneath it.Variations of CPPs data acquisition and analysis lead to the complexity of the clinical cut-off values, and there are no agreeable values for a specific voice disorder, such as hypokinetic dysarthria associated with Parkinson’s disease(PD).This study examined the CPPs in people with hypokinetic dysarthria associated with PD compared with healthy participants. Results demonstrated significant differences in speech tasks of sustained vowel and connected speech, with CPPs of connected speech more sensitive to dysphonia and gender difference in PD participants.Males in PD participants presented higher CPPs for sustained vowels and lower CPPs for connected speech than females. It is implied that a consistent clinical application protocol is necessary, and multiple acoustic measures are needed to ensure the accuracy of clinical decisions. 展开更多

Objective:To observe the efficacy of oral-facial acupressure combined with oral placement therapy(OPT)in improving articulation clarity in 120 children with spastic cerebral palsy, and to explore effective therapeutic solutions for speech disorders associated with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods:A total of 120 children with spastic cerebral palsy and speech disorders, meeting the inclusion criteria, were randomly assigned into two groups:60 cases in the treatment group and 60 cases in the control group. The treatment group received orofacial acupressure combined with OPT,while the control group received only OPT.The Oral Motor Function Assessment Scale(OMFAS),developed by the China Rehabilitation Research Centre(CRRC),was used to evaluate the treatment outcomes before and after the intervention. Results:After the treatment, both the treatment and control groups showed improved mobility of the mandible, lips, and tongue. However, the treatment group exhibited significantly better improvement than the control group, with the difference between the two groups being statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Oral-facial acupressure combined with OPT can effectively improve articulation clarity in children with spastic cerebral palsy. This combined therapy is recommended for clinical promotion and application. 展开更多

Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of scalp acupuncture plus speech rehabilitation in treating Broca's aphasia after cerebral stroke, for providing novel evidences for the treatment. Methods:Ninety-one eligible patients with Broca's aphasia after cerebral stroke were randomized into an observation group and a control group. Forty-six cases in the observation group were intervened by scalp acupuncture plus speech rehabilitation, while 45 cases in the control group were treated by speech rehabilitation alone. The aphasia battery of Chinese (ABC) and Boston diagnostic aphasia examination (BDAE) were adopted to evaluate the clinical efficacy. Results:After the treatment, the scores of oral expression, reading and writing and global score in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (allP〈0.05). There was a significant difference in comparing the BDAE grading between the two groups after the treatment (P〈0.05). After intervention, the basically-recovered plus markedly-effective rate was 45.7% in the observation group versus 24.4% in the control group, and the between-group difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05). Conclusion:Scalp acupuncture plus speech rehabilitation is effective in treating Broca's aphasia after cerebral stroke, and worth promoting. 展开更多
