The research explored variation coefficient of grains and analyzed the fluctuations of grains in Hubei in the 1990s in order to investigate quantitative cor- relation between grain production and water-related disaster. The conclusion is that the effective irrigated area and growing structure are major factors influencing grain production capacity, whose grey relational degrees were 0.91 and 0.85 with grain production, respectively. These indicated that water-related disasters have significant effects on grain yield in Hubei Province. 展开更多

Grouting has been the most effective approach to mitigate water inrush disasters in underground engineering due to its ability to plug groundwater and enhance rock strength.Nevertheless,there is a lack of potent numerical tools for assessing the grouting effectiveness in water-rich fractured strata.In this study,the hydro-mechanical coupled discontinuous deformation analysis(HM-DDA)is inaugurally extended to simulate the grouting process in a water-rich discrete fracture network(DFN),including the slurry migration,fracture dilation,water plugging in a seepage field,and joint reinforcement after coagulation.To validate the capabilities of the developed method,several numerical examples are conducted incorporating the Newtonian fluid and Bingham slurry.The simulation results closely align with the analytical solutions.Additionally,a set of compression tests is conducted on the fresh and grouted rock specimens to verify the reinforcement method and calibrate the rational properties of reinforced joints.An engineering-scale model based on a real water inrush case of the Yonglian tunnel in a water-rich fractured zone has been established.The model demonstrates the effectiveness of grouting reinforcement in mitigating water inrush disaster.The results indicate that increased grouting pressure greatly affects the regulation of water outflow from the tunnel face and the prevention of rock detachment face after excavation. 展开更多

Regarding the lack of cold source for underground cooling systems from either mine inflow or return air, field experiments were taken in a high temperature deep coal mine with abundant cold source from surface water. Taking Sanhejian coal mine as an example, this paper introduced the technology scheme of heat disaster governance using surface water cold source. The paper presents the basics of this field experiment at the beginning, following by the design and site layout of the cooling system including the analysis and calculation of cold source. Numerical calculation method is also applied based on the operation parameters to simulate the influence to the surface river ecosystem. The results suggest that the temperature of surface water shall be lower than 34 ℃ after heat exchange, and when more cooling capacities are needed in the future, increasing the water flow is more favorable than increasing the cooling range of water, which is better for the ecological environment protection, 展开更多

Differences are found in the attributes of microseismic events caused by coal seam rupture,underground structure activation,and groundwater movement in coal mine production.Based on these differences,accurate classification and analysis of microseismic events are important for the water inrush warning of the coal mine working facefloor.Cluster analysis,which classifies samples according to data similarity,has remarkable advantages in nonlinear classification.A water inrush early warning method for coal minefloors is proposed in this paper.First,the short time average over long time average(STA/LTA)method is used to identify effective events from continuous microseismic records to realize the identification of microseismic events in coal mines.Then,ten attributes of microseismic events are extracted,and cluster analysis is conducted in the attribute domain to realize unsupervised classification of microseismic events.Clustering results of synthetic andfield data demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.The analysis offield data clustering results shows that thefirst kind of events with time change rules is of considerable importance to the early warning of water inrush from the coal mine working facefloor. 展开更多

Compared with traditional real-time forecasting,this paper proposes a Grey Markov Model(GMM) to forecast the maximum water levels at hydrological stations in the estuary area.The GMM combines the Grey System and Markov theory into a higher precision model.The GMM takes advantage of the Grey System to predict the trend values and uses the Markov theory to forecast fluctuation values,and thus gives forecast results involving two aspects of information.The procedure for forecasting annul maximum water levels with the GMM contains five main steps:1) establish the GM(1,1) model based on the data series;2) estimate the trend values;3) establish a Markov Model based on relative error series;4) modify the relative errors caused in step 2,and then obtain the relative errors of the second order estimation;5) compare the results with measured data and estimate the accuracy.The historical water level records(from 1960 to 1992) at Yuqiao Hydrological Station in the estuary area of the Haihe River near Tianjin,China are utilized to calibrate and verify the proposed model according to the above steps.Every 25 years' data are regarded as a hydro-sequence.Eight groups of simulated results show reasonable agreement between the predicted values and the measured data.The GMM is also applied to the 10 other hydrological stations in the same estuary.The forecast results for all of the hydrological stations are good or acceptable.The feasibility and effectiveness of this new forecasting model have been proved in this paper. 展开更多

Influence mechanism and calculation of the minimum safe thickness of waterproof rock mass in karst tunnels

Due to the influence of karst cave development and route selection,the location relationship between concealed karst cave and tunnel is more random.In order to explore the influence rule of karst cave location on the minimum safe thickness of water-proof rock mass,a simplified calculation model of water-proof rock mass thickness when the karst cave is located at any location around the tunnel is established,and the influence of multiple factors on the overall stability of water-proof rock mass is considered.Based on the cusp catastrophe theory,the analytical expressions for the safety thickness of waterproof rock mass are derived.Based on the finite difference principle,the analytical expressions of the safety thickness of water-proof rock mass are verified.In order to improve the application range of the analytical formula derived in this paper,the analytical formula is optimized based on the instability principle differences between the simplified calculation model and the elastic compressive bar.The research results show that the necessary condition solution is more applicable and much safer than the sufficient condition solution.Tectonic stress,rock beam length and karst cave water pressure are significantly positively correlated with the safe thickness of the waterproof rock mass.The calculated results of the semioptimized formula and the unoptimized formula are constant values,independent of the karst cave location.While the calculated results of the fully optimized formula are variable values,correlated with the karst cave location,the thickness of the waterproof rock mass gradually decreases as the karst cave location moves from the top of the tunnel to the bottom of the tunnel.The unoptimized formula does not consider the influence of the lateral force of the rock beam,and is not suitable for the working condition with large lateral force,the calculation results of the semi-optimized formula and the fully optimized formula are not very different and are biased to safety,so it can be given priority. 展开更多
