Since the founding of Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS)on 18 April 1960,40 years(18 April 1960~18 April 2000) have past.Today, the SAAS becomes already a complex agricultural scientific and technical i...Since the founding of Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS)on 18 April 1960,40 years(18 April 1960~18 April 2000) have past.Today, the SAAS becomes already a complex agricultural scientific and technical institution with numerous excellent talents,advanced installations and equipments,abundant scientific research achievements and continuous excellent results of civilization construction.There are 12 research institutes,centers and stations with research installations and equipments necessary for 9 key disciplines.The SAAS won 689 research achievements,of which 392 were awarded prizes at nation,ministry and municipality levels.Since the practice of reform and opening policy,the SAAS provided more than 100 new varieties of animals and plants,more than 100 new techniques and more than 100 new products for the society,and the annual social economic profits reached about 1000 million yuan.More than 10 research projects of the SAAS were at the leading levels in the country,among which some projects concerning the domains of agricultural biotechnology,utilization of heterosis in some crops and genetic breeding of edible fungi attained the advanced levels in the world.In the turn of the 21th century,thd SAAS will continually blaze new trials in science and technology,accelerate the regulation of organization,tackle key scientific and technical tasks,strengthen the construction of important subjects,possess actively the high land of agricultural science and technology and so attain the further high levels in the fields of selection and breeding of new varieties of animals and plants,installation horticulture techniques,agricultural biotechnology,control of important diseases and insects of animals and plants,agricultural environment protection,agricultural information techniques and so on.展开更多
