Current resources of lithium recovery have fallen into two main categories—Pegmatite, found worldwide associated with felsic intrusions and Brine Related, and now with development in the Southwest United States of America (SWUS), a third category— Tertiary Volcanic clays, are specifically associated with Tertiary volcanics and major Tectonic Plate interactions. “Active” Plate tectonics is important as both the SWUS, the Lithium Triangle of South America (LTSA) and the Tibetan Plateau of China (TPC) producing tertiary (Miocene) volcanism that is important to the development of Lithium resources. The Tanzanian part of the East Africa Rift System (EARS) has features of both the SWUS, tertiary volcanic related “playas” and Continental rifting, the LTSA, tertiary volcanic related “Brines” and a major Tectonic plate event (subduction of an Oceanic Plate beneath the Continental South American Plate) and the TPC, tertiary volcanics (?) and major tectonic plate event (subduction of the Indian Continental Plate under the Eurasian Continental Plate). As well as the association of peralkaline and metaluminous felsic volcanics with Lithium playas of the SWUS and the EARS (Tanzania) “playas”. These similarities led to an analysis of a volcanic rock in Northeast Tanzania. When it returned 1.76% Lithium, a one-kilometer spaced soil sampling program returned, in consecutive samples over 0.20% Lithium (several samples over 1.0% lithium and a high of 2.24% lithium). It is proposed that these four regions with very similar past and present geologic characteristics, occur nowhere else in the world. That three of them have produced Lithium operations and two of them have identified resources of Lithium clay and “highly” anomalous Lithium clays should be regarded as more than “coincidental”.展开更多

This research aims to assess the association between NNAL, a metabolite of the tobacco-specific nitrosamine NNK, and mortality. Data from 14,766 U.S. adults aged 21 - 79 in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007-2014) included smoking status and urinary NNAL concentration at the time of examination. These data were linked to participants’ subsequent mortality status as recorded in the public-use Linked Mortality File (through 2015). Cox proportional hazards regression models assessed the relative risk of all-cause, cancer, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and other-causes mortality for increasing levels of natural log (creatinine-adjusted NNAL). In the whole sample, a unit increase in log (NNAL) is associated with a 20% higher risk of all-cause (HR = 1.20;95% CI: 1.16 - 1.24), cancer (HR = 1.20;95% CI: 1.14 - 1.26), CVD (HR = 1.21;95% CI: 1.12 - 1.31) and other-causes (HR = 1.20;95% CI: 1.15 - 1.25) mortality. Among current smokers, a unit increase in log (NNAL) is associated with 44% higher cancer mortality risk (HR = 1.44;95% CI: 1.08 - 1.92) and a 96% higher CVD mortality risk (HR = 1.96;95% CI: 1.20 - 3.20). Risks of all-cause and other-causes mortality, but neither cancer nor CVD mortality, were positively associated with NNAL among never and former smokers. Inferences are limited by the observational nature of the data, and by the focus on a single biomarker of tobacco-related exposure. The findings suggest that urinary NNAL concentration is acting as a proxy for exposure to the toxicants in cigarette smoke rather than as a biomarker of disease-specific mortality risk.展开更多

The selection was done first by the title and abstract screening and then by full-text assessment for eligibility. Only randomized controlled trials or cohort studies in patients with hydronephrosis secondary to obstructive urolithiasis that presented comparative data between PCN and RUS placement concerning at least one of the defined outcome measures were included. Lastly, MEDLINE database and PubMed platform were screened again using the same terms, from June 2019 until November 2022.Results: Of 556 initial articles, seven were included in this review. Most works were considered of moderate-to-high quality. Three studies regarding QoL showed a tendency against stenting, even though only one demonstrated statistically significant negative impact on overall health state. Two works reported significantly more post-intervention urinary symptoms in stenting patients. One article found that PCN is a significant predictor of spontaneous stone passage, when adjusted for stone size and location. Findings on length of hospital stays were not consistent among articles. Conclusion: PCN appears to be the intervention better tolerated, with less impact on the patient’s perceived QoL and less post-operative urinary symptoms, in comparison with RUS. Nevertheless, further studies with larger samples and a randomized controlled design are suggested.展开更多

In this study, we analyzed the monthly Snow Cover Extent(SCE) from November to April in the Central Taurus Mountains(Bolkar, Aladaglar, Tahtali and Binboga Mountains) from 1981 to 2021. Linear trends of snow cover season(November to April) over the last 41 years showed decreases in SCE primarily at lower elevations. The downward trend in SCE was found to be more pronounced and statistically significant for only November and March. SCE in the Central Taurus Mountains has declined about-6.3% per decade for 2500-3000 m in November and about-6.0% per decade for 1000-1500 m and 3000+ m in March over the last 41 years. The loss of SCE has become evident since the 2000s, and the lowest negative anomalies in SCE have been observed in 2014, 2001, and 2007 in the last 41 years, which are consistent with an increase in air temperature and decreased precipitation. SCE was correlated with both mean temperature and precipitation, with temperature having a greater relative importance at all elevated gradients. Results showed that there is a strong linear relationship between SCE and the mean air temperature(r =-0.80) and precipitation(r = 0.44) for all elevated gradients during the snow season. The Arctic Oscillation(AO), the North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO), and the Mediterranean Oscillation(MO) winter indices were used to explain the year-to-year variability in SCE over the Central Taurus Mountains. The results showed that the inter-annual variability observed in the winter SCE on the Central Taurus Mountains was positively correlated with the phases of the winter AO, NAO and MO, especially below 2000 m elevation.展开更多

The compromised regeneration of the spinal cord is primarily attributed to damaged neurons, inhibitory molecules, dysfunctional immune response, and glial scarring. Unfortunately, currently, there are no effective treatments available that can fully repair the spinal cord and improve functional outcomes. Nevertheless, numerous pre-clinical approaches have been studied for spinal cord injury recovery, including using biomaterials, cells, drugs, or technological-based strategies. Combinatorial treatments, which target various aspects of spinal cord injury pathophysiology, have been extensively tested in the last decade. These approaches aim to synergistically enhance repair processes by addressing various obstacles faced during spinal cord regeneration. Thus, this review intends to provide scientists and clinicians with an overview of pre-clinical combinatorial approaches that have been developed toward the solution of spinal cord regeneration as well as update the current knowledge about spinal cord injury pathophysiology with an emphasis on the current clinical management.展开更多

文摘Reviewing the empirical and theoretical parameter relationships between various parameters is a good way to understand more about contact binary systems. In this investigation,two-dimensional(2D)relationships for P–MV(system),P–L1,2,M1,2–L1,2,and q–Lratiowere revisited. The sample used is related to 118 contact binary systems with an orbital period shorter than 0.6 days whose absolute parameters were estimated based on the Gaia Data Release 3 parallax. We reviewed previous studies on 2D relationships and updated six parameter relationships. Therefore,Markov chain Monte Carlo and Machine Learning methods were used, and the outcomes were compared. We selected 22 contact binary systems from eight previous studies for comparison, which had light curve solutions using spectroscopic data. The results show that the systems are in good agreement with the results of this study.
文摘Myocarditis is a disease process that every emergency physician fears missing. Its severity can be mild to life-threatening,and many cases are likely undetected because they are subclinical with nonspecifi c signs.[1]Subtle cardiac signs may be overshadowed by systemic symptoms of the underlying infectious process.Fever, myalgias, lethargy, symptoms commonly associated with viral syndrome, can mask the life-threatening myocarditis that may be present. In fact,in the United States Myocarditis Treatment Trial, almost 90%of patients reported symptoms consistent with a viral prodrome.[2]Ammirati et al[3]reported that 27%of patients with myocarditis had either reduced left ventricular ejection fraction, ventricular arrhythmias,or low cardiac output. Here,we present a case report,in which handheld point-of-care ultrasound was utilized at the bedside to aid in the critical diagnosis of myocarditis. With the additional information provided through this imaging modality, this patient was able to be transferred to the appropriate tertiary care facility in an expeditious manner and receive possible defi nitive treatment.
文摘In 2000,the small bowel capsule revolutionized the management of patients with small bowel disorders.Currently, the technological development achieved by the new models of double-headed endoscopic capsules,as miniaturized devices to evaluate the small bowel and colon[pan-intestinal capsule endoscopy(PCE)],makes this non-invasive procedure a disruptive concept for the management of patients with digestive disorders. This technology is expected to identify which patients will require conventional invasive endoscopic procedures(colonoscopy or balloon-assisted enteroscopy),based on the lesions detected by the capsule,i.e.,those with an indication for biopsies or endoscopic treatment. The use of PCE in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases, namely Crohn’s disease,as well as in patients with iron deficiency anaemia and/or overt gastrointestinal(GI)bleeding, after a non-diagnostic upper endoscopy(esophagogastroduodenoscopy),enables an effective, safe and comfortable way to identify patients with relevant lesions, who should undergo subsequent invasive endoscopic procedures. The recent development of magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy to evaluate the upper GI tract,is a further step towards the possibility of an entirely non-invasive assessment of all the segments of the digestive tract, from mouth-to-anus,meeting the expectations of the early developers of capsule endoscopy.
文摘Objective: To assess if there is a preferable intervention between retrograde ureteral stent (RUS) and percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) tube, in cases of upper urinary tract stone obstruction with complications requiring urgent drainage, by evaluating outcomes regarding urinary symptoms, quality of life (QoL), spontaneous stone passage, and length of hospital stays, since there is no literature stating the superiority of one modality over the other. Methods: We searched MEDLINE and other sources for relevant articles in June 2019 without any date restrictions or filters applied. Nevertheless, further studies with larger samples and a randomized controlled design are suggested.
文摘The snow cover over the Taurus Mountains affects water supply, agriculture, and hydropower generation in the region. The results showed that the inter-annual variability observed in the winter SCE on the Central Taurus Mountains was positively correlated with the phases of the winter AO, NAO and MO, especially below 2000 m elevation.
文摘The brain, with its trillions of neural connections, different cellular types, and molecular complexities, presents a formidable challenge for researchers aiming to comprehend the multifaceted nature of neural health. As traditional methods have provided valuable insights, emerging technologies offer unprecedented opportunities to delve deeper into the underpinnings of brain function. In the everevolving landscape of neuroscience, the quest to unravel the mysteries of the human brain is bound to take a leap forward thanks to new technological improvements and bold interpretative frameworks.
文摘The advent of immersive technologies such as the metaverse, extended reality, artificial intelligence, and blockchain offers novel possibilities to transform healthcare services. These innovations coincide with clinicians'aspirations to deliver more comprehensive,patient-centered care tailored to individuals singular needs and preferences.Integration of these emerging tools may confer opportunities for providers to engage patients through new modalities and expand their role. However, responsible implementation necessitates deliberation of ethical implications and steadfast adherence to foundational principles of compassion and interpersonal connection underpinning the profession. While the metaverse introduces new channels for social prescribing, this perspective advocates that its ultimate purpose should be strengthening, not supplanting, human relationships. We propose an ethical framework centered on respect for patients'dignity to guide integration of metaverse platforms into medical practice. This framework serves both to harness their potential benefits and mitigate risks of dehumanization or uncompassionate care. Our analysis maps the developing topology of metaverse-enabled care while upholding moral imperatives for medicine to promote healing relationships and human flourishing.
文摘The quality upgrading and deashing of inferior coal by chemical method still faces great challenges. The dangers of strong acid, strong alkali, waste water and exhaust gas as well as high cost limit its industrial production. This paper systematically investigates the ash reduction and desilicification of two typical inferior coal utilizing ammonium fluoride roasting method.Under the optimal conditions, for fat coal and gas coal, the deashing rates are 69.02%and 54.13%,and the desilicification rates are 92.64%and 90.27%,respectively.The molar dosage of ammonium fluoride remains consistent for both coals;however, the gas coal, characterized by a lower ash and silica content(less than half that of the fat coal),achieves optimum deashing effect at a reduced time and temperature. The majority of silicon in coal transforms into gaseous ammonium fluorosilicate, subsequently preparing nanoscale amorphous silica with a purity of 99.90%through ammonia precipitation. Most of the fluorine in deashed coal are assigned in inorganic minerals, suggesting the possibility of further fluorine and ash removal via flotation. This research provides a green and facile route to deash inferior coal and produce nano-scale white carbon black simultaneously.
文摘The prevalence of patients with coronary heart disease(CHD)and diabetes mellitus is notably high, posing sig-nificant residual cardiovascular risks even after routine interventions such as antihypertensive,lipid-lowering,and antithrombot-ic treatments.Recent studies have demonstrated that certain glucose-lowering medications confer cardiovascular benefits for pa-tients with type 2 diabetes. However,a survey indicates that cardiologists may not be fully acquainted with the optimal screen-ing timing, indicators, and diagnostic criteria for type 2 diabetes, and there is insufficient awareness and a low rate of prescrip-tion of novel glucose-lowering medications with proven cardiovascular efficacy, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agon-ists(GLP-1 RAs)and sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors(SGLT-2i).In this context, based on domestic and international guidelines or consensus and the latest evidence-based evidence, this consensus aims to standardize the glycemic management for patients with acute coronary syndrome, chronic coronary syndrome, and perioperative management for percutaneous coronary intervention. It highlights the key points of screening and diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, and the comprehensive management of cardiovascular risk in patients with CHD.The consensus elaborates on the principles and algorithms of glycemic management for CHD patients, without involving acute complications of diabetes, clarifies the clinical practice of glucose-lowering medications with cardiovascular benefits, and promotes the standardized use of these medications in cardiovascular and other related spe-cialty fields.Additionally,it addresses the glucose-lowering treatment to comprehensively reduce cardiovascular risks.

文摘Spinal cord injuries have profound detrimental effects on individuals, regardless of whether they are caused by trauma or non-traumatic events. Thus, this review intends to provide scientists and clinicians with an overview of pre-clinical combinatorial approaches that have been developed toward the solution of spinal cord regeneration as well as update the current knowledge about spinal cord injury pathophysiology with an emphasis on the current clinical management.
