The study also included the relationship between eating salted foods and their effect on pressure among males and females of tasters and non-tasters of (PTC) substance. The results showed an increase in the proportion of the phenotypic style of tasters compared to non-tasters among males (75%, 25%) and females (77.03%, 22.97%) respectively. The average of systolic pressure was (117.91 mm/Hg, 107.06 mm/Hg) and diastolic (78.22 mm/Hg, 68.71 mm/Hg) among tasters and on-tasters for both sexes respectively. The results showed significant differences in systolic pressure among non-tasters female compared to their counterpart tasters [X2 (DF = 1) 5.783, P ≤ 0.05]. Such an effect doesn’t appear among males. The results showed an increase of non-tasters (66.58%) among those with abnormal blood pressure and (68.42%) of those who consumed salted foods.展开更多

Findings revealed that: despite the positive attitude shown by students towards environmental education, a relatively low level of understanding of environmental concept was recorded in school settings regardless of efforts by government and other environmental agencies at creating awareness about environmental related issues. This brought about the investigation of students' environmental education knowledge in high school settings. About 205 students were randomly selected for data collection using validated instruments titled student's knowledge and attitude questionnaire as well as student's response to questions (interview) concerning global warming. T-test statistics, chi-square and simple percentage were the major statistical tools employed in data analysis. This study revealed that environment based-education (school curriculum) as well as efforts by government/environmental agencies (mass media) plays a major role in promoting students' understanding, of environmental concepts, awareness of major environmental issues and positive attitude towards natural environment.展开更多

It aims at motivating English learners and helping them develop communicative language skills more effectively and efficiently. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are adopted to analyze the data collected through interviews, teaching logs, as well as anonymous questionnaires and a summative assessment. Results show that the flipped classroom approach does stimulate students to invest more time and effort prior to instruction and during class learners do participate in communicative language exercises more enthusiastically. As a result, conceivable progress has been made in learners' performance. Possible recommendations of incorporating periodic rotation within the class, adding certain teacher-led instruction, and informal evaluation with group members, are raised at the end of the paper to help further improve the teaching/learning outcome of the flipped classroom approach.展开更多

As a result, conceivable progress has been made in learners' performance. Possible recommendations of incorporating periodic rotation within the class, adding certain teacher-led instruction, and informal evaluation with group members, are raised at the end of the paper to help further improve the teaching/learning outcome of the flipped classroom approach.
文摘The user’s intent to seek online information has been an active area of research in user profiling.User profiling considers user characteristics, behaviors, activities, and preferences to sketch user intentions, interests, and motivations.Determining user characteristics can help capture implicit and explicit preferences and intentions for effective user-centric and customized content presentation. The user’s complete online experience in seeking information is a blend of activities such as searching, verifying, and sharing it on social platforms. However,a combination of multiple behaviors in profiling users has yet to be considered. This research takes a novel approach and explores user intent types based on multidimensional online behavior in information acquisition. This research explores information search, verification, and dissemination behavior and identifies diverse types of users based on their online engagement using machine learning. The research proposes a generic user profile template that explains the user characteristics based on the internet experience and uses it as ground truth for data annotation.User feedback is based on online behavior and practices collected by using a survey method. The participants include both males and females from different occupation sectors and different ages. The data collected is subject to feature engineering, and the significant features are presented to unsupervised machine learning methods to identify user intent classes or profiles and their characteristics.Different techniques are evaluated, and the K-Mean clustering method successfully generates five user groups observing different user characteristics with an average silhouette of 0.36 and a distortion score of 1136.Feature average is computed to identify user intent type characteristics. The user intent classes are then further generalized to create a user intent template with an Inter-Rater Reliability of 75%.This research successfully extracts different user types based on their preferences in online content, platforms, criteria, and frequency. The study also validates the proposed template on user feedback data through Inter-Rater Agreement process using an external human rater.

文摘Terahertz(THz)waves, also known as T-rays,encompass frequencies ranging from 0.1 to 10 THz and possess unique properties that render them applicable in various biomedical domains, particularly in neurobiology[1].Synaptic transmission, the process through which signals propagate between neurons at synapses,is pivotal for brain function and information processing.

文摘This study is based on postmodern narrative therapy. The action research approach was adopted to explore the self-healing experience and the reflections of teaching and learning in an integrated listening, reading, and writing course for Chinese colleges. The objectives of this study were as follows:(1)to assist university students in narrative self-healing through this course;(2)to explore the reflections and insights of this teaching action research. This study was conducted at National Dong Hwa University(Taiwan,China)with its faculty members, research assistants, and 330 college students. The teaching plan was implemented in six classes over four semesters. This study found that human beings have the ability to heal themselves and that an integrated course covering reading narratives, listening to narratives, and writing trauma narratives can help college students heal themselves.
