We discuss in this paper a deterministic multi-group MSIR epidemic model with a vaccination rate, the basic reproduction number Ro, a key parameter in epidemiology, is a threshold which determines the persistence or extinction of the disease. By using Lyapunov function techniques, we show if Ro is greater than 1 and the deterministic model obeys some conditions, then the disease will prevail, the infective persists and the endemic state is asymptotically stable in a feasible region. If Ro is less than or equal to 1, then the infective disappear so the disease dies out. In addition, stochastic noises around the endemic equilibrium will be added to the deterministic MSIR model in order that the deterministic model is extended to a system of stochastic ordinary differential equations. In the stochastic version, we carry out a detailed analysis on the asymptotic behavior of the stochastic model. In addition, regarding the value of Ro, when the stochastic system obeys some conditions and Ro is greater than 1, we deduce the stochastic system is stochastically asymptotically stable. Finally, the deterministic and stochastic model dynamics are illustrated through computer simulations. 展开更多

Due to its complexities in both mathematicM formulations and applications, universal co-kriging (UCK) has not been sufficiently discussed in literature. An extended and simpler matrix formulation UCK with incorporation of a polynomial variable trend is proposed in this paper. Estimators of the value and expectation of a regionMized vector taken in a point are obtained on the basis of cross-covaxiance and cross-vaxiogram, respectively. The complex expressions of co-kriging with trend are greatly simplified by introducing special matrix operations, such as Kronecker product, into the formulations. This simplification offers a feasible and easier approach for computer coding of the UCK, and helps the practitioners to use the UCK technique conveniently in real cases. 展开更多

Due to their unique properties and appealing applications,low dimensional sp^(3)carbon nanostructures have attracted increasing attention recently.Based on the beam theory and atomistic studies,this work carries out a comprehensive investigation on the vibrational properties of the ultrathin carbon nanothreads(NTH).Size effect is observed in transverse free vibrations of NTHs.To quantify such effects,the modified couple stress theory(MCST)is utilized to modify the Timoshenko beam theory.According to the first four order frequencies of NTHs from atomistic simulations,the critical length scale parameter of MCST is calibrated as 0.1 nm.It is shown that MCST has minor effect on the first four order modal shapes,except for the clamped boundary.MCST makes the modal shapes at the clamped boundary closer to those observed in atomistic simulations.This study suggests that to some extent the MCST-based Timoshenko beam theory can well describe the transverse vibration characteristics of the ultrafine NTHs,which are helpful for designing and fabricating the NTH-based nanoscale mechanical resonators. 展开更多

The formation problem of multi-agent systems via coordinated control is investigated,where the multiple agents can achieve the common velocity with leader and avoid collision during the evolution.In the real-world situation,the communication is often disturbed and inaccurate.Hence,the unknown disturbances are considered in the velocity measurements,which is assumed to be bounded and does not need to be modelled.Moreover,a complicated nonlinear interaction among agents is presented in the design of control.Based on the existing work of multi-agent systems,a flocking control protocol is proposed to address the formation problem in the dynamic topology.The stability analysis is given to prove that the velocities of all agents can converge to the velocity of leader and the stable motion with collision avoidance can be achieved eventually.Finally,some simulations are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多
