Magnetic reconnection acceleration of astrophysical jets for different jet geometries 被引量:1

The acceleration mechanisms of relativistic jets are of great importance for understanding various astrophysical phenomena such as gamma-ray bursts, active galactic nuclei and microquasars. One of the most popular scenarios is that the jets are initially Poynting-flux dominated and succumb to magnetohydrodynamic instability leading to magnetic reconnections. We suggest that the reconnection timescale and efficiency could strongly depend on the geometry of the jet, which determines the length scale on which the orientations of the field lines change. In contrast to a usually- assumed conical jet, the acceleration of a collimated jet can be found to be more rapid and efficient (i.e. a much more highly saturated Lorentz factor can be reached) while the jets with lateral expansion show the opposite behavior. The shape of the jet could be formed due to the lateral squeezing on the jet by the stellar envelope of a collapsing massive star or the interaction of the jet with stellar winds. 展开更多

Graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))has been extensively doped with alkali metals to enlarge photocatalytic output,in which cesium(Cs)doping is predicted to be the most efficient.Nevertheless,the sluggish diffusion and doping kinetics of precursors with high melting points,along with imprecise regulation,have raised the debate on whether Cs doping could make sense.For this matter,we attempt to confirm the positive effects of Cs doping on multifunctional photocatalysis by first using cesium acetate with the character of easy manipulation.The optimized Csdoped g-C_(3)N_(4)(CCN)shows a 41.6-fold increase in visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)compared to pure g-C_(3)N_(4) and impressive degradation capability,especially with 77%refractory tetracycline and almost 100%rhodamine B degradedwithin an hour.The penetration ofCs+is demonstrated to be a mode of interlayer doping,and Cs–N bonds(especially with sp^(2) pyridine N in C═N–C),along with robust chemical interaction and electron exchange,are fabricated.This atomic configuration triggers the broadened spectral response,the improved charge migration,and the activated photocatalytic capacity.Furthermore,we evaluate the CCN/cadmium sulfide hybrid as a Z-scheme configuration,promoting the visible HER yield to 9.02 mmol g^(−1) h^(−1),which is the highest ever reported among all CCN systems.This work adds to the rapidly expanding field of manipulation strategies and supports further development of mediating served for photocatalysis. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Crohn’s disease(CD)is often misdiagnosed as intestinal tuberculosis(ITB).However,the treatment and prognosis of these two diseases are dramatically different.Therefore,it is important to develop a method to identify CD and ITB with high accuracy,specificity,and speed.AIM To develop a method to identify CD and ITB with high accuracy,specificity,and speed.METHODS A total of 72 paraffin wax-embedded tissue sections were pathologically and clinically diagnosed as CD or ITB.Paraffin wax-embedded tissue sections were attached to a metal coating and measured using attenuated total reflectance fourier transform infrared spectroscopy at mid-infrared wavelengths combined with XGBoost for differential diagnosis.RESULTS The results showed that the paraffin wax-embedded specimens of CD and ITB were significantly different in their spectral signals at 1074 cm^(-1) and 1234 cm^(-1) bands,and the differential diagnosis model based on spectral characteristics combined with machine learning showed accuracy,specificity,and sensitivity of 91.84%,92.59%,and 90.90%,respectively,for the differential diagnosis of CD and ITB.CONCLUSION Information on the mid-infrared region can reveal the different histological components of CD and ITB at the molecular level,and spectral analysis combined with machine learning to establish a diagnostic model is expected to become a new method for the differential diagnosis of CD and ITB. 展开更多

Modeling the performance of perovskite solar cells with inserting porous insulating alumina nanoplates

Peng et al.[Science 379683(2023)]reported an effective method to improve the performance of perovskite solar cells by using thicker porous insulator contact(PIC)-alumina nanoplates.This method overcomes the trade-off between the open-circuit voltage and the fill factor through two mechanisms:reduced surface recombination velocity and increased bulk recombination lifetime due to better perovskite crystallinity.From arguments of drift-diffusion simulations,we find that an increase in mobility and carrier recombination lifetime in bulk are the key factors for minimizing the resistance-effect from thicker PICs and achieving a maximum power conversion efficiency(PCE)at approximately 25%reduced contact area.Furthermore,the partially replacement of perovskite films with thicker PICs would result in a reduction in short-current density,but the relative low refractive index of the PICs imbedded into the high refractive index perovskite creates light trapping structures that compensate for this loss. 展开更多

By numerically solving the semiconductor Bloch equation(SBEs),we theoretically study the high-harmonic generation of ZnO crystals driven by one-color and two-color intense laser pulses.The results show the enhancement of harmonics and the cut-off remains the same in the two-color field,which can be explained by the recollision trajectories and electron excitation from multi-channels.Based on the quantum path analysis,we investigate contribution of different ranges of the crystal momentum k of ZnO to the harmonic yield,and find that in two-color laser fields,the intensity of the harmonic yield of different ranges from the crystal momentum makes a big difference and the harmonic intensity is depressed from all k channels,which is related to the interferences between harmonics from symmetric k channels. 展开更多

Fractional molecular field theory(FMFT)is a phenomenological theory that describes phase transitions in crystals with randomly distributed components,such as the relaxor-ferroelectrics and spin glasses.In order to verify the feasibility of this theory,this paper fits it to the Monte Carlo simulations of specific heat and susceptibility versus temperature of two-dimensional(2D)random-site Ising model(2D-RSIM).The results indicate that the FMFT deviates from the 2D-RSIM significantly.The main reason for the deviation is that the 2D-RSIM is a typical system of component random distribution,where the real order parameter is spatially heterogeneous and has no symmetry of space translation,but the basic assumption of FMFT means that the parameter is spatially uniform and has symmetry of space translation. 展开更多

High harmonic generation in ZnO crystals under chirped single-color field and static electric field are investigated by solving the semiconductor Bloch equation(SBE). It is found that when the chirp pulse is introduced, the interference structure becomes obvious while the harmonic cutoff is not extended. Furthermore, the harmonic efficiency is improved when the static electric field is included. These phenomena are demonstrated by the classical recollision model in real space affected by the waveform of laser field and inversion symmetry. Specifically, the electron motion in k-space shows that the change of waveform and the destruction of the symmetry of the laser field lead to the incomplete X-structure of the crystal-momentum-resolved(k-resolved) inter-band harmonic spectrum. Furthermore, a pre-acceleration process in the solid four-step model is confirmed. 展开更多

We adopt a floor field cellular automata model to study the statistical properties of bidirectional pedestrian flow movingin a straight corridor. We introduce a game-theoretic framework to deal with the conflict of multiple pedestrians tryingto move to the same target location. By means of computer simulations, we show that the complementary cumulative distributionof the time interval between two consecutive pedestrians leaving the corridor can be fitted by a stretched exponentialdistribution, and surprisingly, the statistical properties of the two types of pedestrian flows are affected differently by theflow ratio, i.e., the ratio of the pedestrians walking toward different directions. We also find that the jam probability exhibitsa non-monotonic behavior with the flow ratio, where the worst performance arises at an intermediate flow ratio of around0.2. Our simulation results are consistent with some empirical observations, which suggest that the peculiar characteristicsof the pedestrians may attributed to the anticipation mechanism of collision avoidance. 展开更多

By using real-space recursion method,the energetics of the undoped and Al and/or RE atoms doped 7(1450)〈0001〉 symmetric tilt grain boundaries(GBs)in AZ91 alloys were investigated.Similar calculations were performed on undoped and doped bulk α Mg for comparison.The results showed that Al atoms segregated at GBs in AZ91 alloys.When RE atoms were added,they also segregated at GBs,and their segregation is stronger than Al atoms'.Therefore,RE atoms retard the segregation of Al atoms.Calculations of interaction energy indicated that Al atoms repelled each other,and could form ordered phase with host Mg atoms.On the contrary to the case of Al,RE atoms attracted each other,they could not form ordered phase with Mg,but could form clusters.Between RE and Al,there existed attractive interaction,and this attractive interaction was the origin of Al11RE3 precipitation.Precipitation of Al11RE3 particles with high melting point and high thermal stability along GB improves high temperature properties of AZ91 alloys. 展开更多

The formula for a magnetic fluid's apparent density is derived based on Bernoulli's equation of magnetic fluid,and the distribution of the magnetic fluid's apparent density is measured by the intelligent apparatus of measuring a magnetic fluid's apparent density in an applied perpendicular magnetic field.Magnetic particle chain-like alignments are observed by a transmission electron microscope(TEM).Without an applied magnetic field,the magnetic fluid's density is equal everywhere and the distribution of magnetic particles is homogeneous and unordered.When magnetic induction and magnetic induction gradient gather strength in an applied perpendicular magnetic field,the magnetic fluid's apparent density increases gradually,and more chain-like structures are formed and aligned with the direction of the magnetic field.The results of magnetic particle alignments are correspondent with the distribution of the magnetic fluid's apparent density.Both of them result from particle-particle interactions and particle-carrier liquid interactions,which are eventually controlled by the applied magnetic induction and magnetic induction gradient distribution. 展开更多

It is found that with increasing temperature, the elastic constants will decrease monotonically. The phase transition, elastic and electronic properties of three phases(phase Ⅰ,Ⅱ, and Ⅲ) of Sb_2Te_3 are investigated by using the generalized gradient approximation(GGA) with the PBESOL exchange–correlation functional in the framework of density-functional theory. Some basic physical parameters, such as lattice constants, bulk modulus, shear modulus,Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, acoustic velocity, and Debye temperature Θ are calculated. The obtained lattice parameters under various pressures are consistent with experimental data. Phase transition pressures are 9.4 GPa(Ⅰ→Ⅱ) and 14.1 GPa(Ⅱ→Ⅲ), which are in agreement with the experimental results. According to calculated elastic constants, we also discuss the ductile or brittle characters and elastic anisotropies of three phases. Phases Ⅰ and Ⅲ are brittle, while phaseⅡ is ductile. Of the three phases, phaseⅡ has the most serious degree of elastic anisotropy and phase Ⅲ has the slightest one.Finally, we investigate the partial densities of states(PDOSs) of three phases and find that the three phases possess some covalent features. 展开更多

There remain a number of unsolved problems about chemical reactions, and it is significant to explore new detection methods because they always offer some unique information about reactions from new points of view. For the first time, the solidification course of a modified two-component acrylic structural adhesive is measured by using reed-vibration mechanical spectroscopy for liquids (RMS-L) in this work, and results show that there are four sequential processes of mechanical spectra with time. The in-depth analyses indicate that RMS-L can detect in real-time the generation and disappearance of active free radicals, as well as the chemical cross-link processes in the adhesive. This kind of real-time detection will undoubtedly facilitate the study of the chemical reaction dynamics controlled by free radicals. 展开更多

The luminescent properties of Eu^3+doped Ca2SiO4 red phosphors synthesized by the flux fusion reaction method were investigated. It was found that the excitation spectrum included two regions: the weak excitation band below 325 nm and strong narrow peaks above 325 nm. The main peak of the excitation band was located at 400 nm. The peaks located at 290 nm were assigned to the combination of the charge transfer transition of O-Eu, peaks above 325 nm (325, 385, 400, 470, 511, and 539 nm) were assigned to the f-f transitions of Eu^3+. The emission spectrum was dominated by the red peak located at 612 nm due to the electric dipole transition of ^5D0-^7F2. In addition, the effects of the Eu^3+ content and charge compensators of Li^+, Na^+, K^+, and Cl^- ions on the emission intensity were investigated. The experiment results suggested that the strongest emission was obtained when the concentration of the Eu^3+ ions was 0.3 mol^-1, and Li^+ ions gave the best improvement to enhance the emission intensity. Ca2SiO4:Eu^3+, Li^+ was thus suitable for low-cost trichromatic white light emitting diodes (WLED) based on UV InGaN chip. 展开更多

As an important type of metal-organic framework(MOF),Zr-MOF shows excellent CO2 adsorption performance.In this work,a Zr-MOF was synthesized by a solvothennal method and adopted to support Ru through simple incipient-wetness impreg nation.Then the Ru/Zr-MOF was applied for CO2 hydrogenation(Vh2:VCO2=4:1)with the assistance of dielectric banner dischai'ge(DBD)plasma.The hydrogenation of Cd2 results showed that methane was produced selectively under the synergistic effect between plasma and the Ru/Zr-MOF catalyst,and the selectivity and yield of methane reached 94.6%and 39.1%,respectively.The XRD and SEM analyses indicate that the basic crystalline phase structure and morphology of the Zr-MOF and Ru/Zr-MOF remained the same after DBD plasma treatment,suggesting that the catalysts are stable in plasma.The guest molecules in the pores of the Zr-MOF are removed and the Ru"ions are reduced to metallic Ru()in the reduction atmosphere according to the BET and XPS results,which are responsible for the high performance of plasma with the Ru/Zr-MOF catalyst.In situ optical emission spectra of pure plasma,plasma with Zr-MOF,and plasma with Ru/Zr-MOF were measured,and the active species of C,H and CH for CO2 hydrogenation were detected.The plasma-assisted Ru/Zr-MOF exhibited high catalytic activity and stability in CO2 hydrogenation to methane,and it has great guiding significance for CO2 hydrogenation by using plasma and MOF materials. 展开更多

From the molecular current viewpoint,an analytic expression exactly describing magnetic field distribution of rectangular permanent magnets magnetized sufficiently in one direction was derived from the Biot-Savart's law. This expression is useful not only for the case of one rectangular permanent magnet bulk,but also for that of several rectangular permanent magnet bulks. By using this expression,the relations between magnetic field distribution and the size of rectangular permanent magnets as well as the magnitude of magnetic field and the distance from the point in the space to the top (or bottom) surface of rectangular permanent magnets were discussed in detail. All the calculating results are consistent with experimental ones. For transverse magnetic field which is a main magnetic field of rectangular permanent magnets,in order to describe its distribution,two quantities,one is the uniformity in magnitude and the other is the uniformity in distribution of magnetic field,were defined. Furthermore,the relations between them and the geometric size of the magnet as well as the distance from the surface of permanent magnets were investigated by these formulas. The numerical results show that the geometric size and the distance have a visible influence on the uniformity in magnitude and the uniformity in distribution of the magnetic field. 展开更多

Alkaline water splitting is a promising technology for“green hydrogen”generation.To improve its efficiency,highly robust catalysts are required to reduce the overpotential for low electrical power consumption.Heteroatom modification is one of the most effective strategies for boosting catalytic performance,as it can regulate the physicochemical properties of host catalysts to improve their intrinsic activity.Herein,aiming to provide an overview of the impact of heteroatoms on catalytic activity at the atomic level,we present a review of the key role of heteroatoms in enhancing reaction kinetics based on the reaction pathways of the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)in alkaline media.In particular,the introduction of heteroatoms can directly and indirectly optimize the interactions between the active sites and intermediates,thus improving the intrinsic activity.To clearly illustrate this influence in detail,we have summarized a series of representative heteroatom-modified electrocatalysts and discussed the important roles of heteroatoms in the OER and HER reaction pathways.Finally,some challenges and perspectives for heteroatom-modified electrodes are discussed.We hope that this review will be helpful for the development of efficient and low-cost electrocatalysts for water electrolysis and other energy conversion applications. 展开更多
