Application of ^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography in Diagnosis of Malignant Diseases

Objective To testify the efficacy of ^18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (^18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) in the diagnosis of cancer. Methods A total of 170 patients with diagnosed cancer or suspicious cancer were enrolled in this study, and underwent ^18F-FDG PET. The standard uptake value (SUV) and diameter for each abnormal region in PET images were analyzed. All data were analyzed by SPSS 11.5. Results PET scan identified a primary cancer in 45.8% (11/24) patients. The sensitivity and specificity of PET scan in differentiating malignant lesions from benign ones were 78.8% (52/66) and 77.1% (27/35) respectively. Twenty-nine out of 68 (42.6%) lesions were detected earlier by PET than by computed tomography. The SHV of primary cancer was significantly higher than that of metastatic lymph nodes (5.84± 3.12 vs. 3.14± 2.24, P〈0.001). And SLIV of primary lung cancer was also significantly higher than that of metastatic lung cancer (6.30±3.01 vs. 2.86±2.37, P〈0.01).Conclusion ^18F-FDG PET plays a very important role in cancer diagnosis. 展开更多

The influence of several additives on the properties such as strength and permanent linear change of the samples was studied . The results showed that applying complex additives improved the strength and the volume stability of the castables greatly. This paper are divided into two parts to introduce their resource and technical characteristic in the first part, and their applications in refractories in the second part to be succeeded . In this part, based on authors ' knowledge and sources , information on their reserve, distribution, composition and characteristic is provided , to bring it to light that China is rich in the reserve of them , in particular andalusite. The sillimanite group minerals are characterized by their phase transformation to form primary mullite and secondary mullite when added in high alumina system , accompanied by volume expansion , which can be taken use to improve creep resistances and thermal shock resistance of the related refractories. 展开更多

This paper presents a new digital image blind watermarking algorithm based on combination of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD). First of all, we make wavelet decomposition for the original image and divide the acquired low frequency sub-band into blocks. Then we make singular value decomposition for each block and embed the watermark information in the largest singular value by quantitative method. The watermark can be extracted without the original image. The experimental results show that the algorithm has a good imperceptibility and robustness. 展开更多

The paper describes the ries with high thermal shock development of brick seresistance and low creep rate for hot blast stove, including research target and research plan on the basis of analysis on how to enhance the thermal shock resistance and to lower creep rate of the bricks. Efforts have been made on the selection of starting materials such as corundum, mullite, andalusite and sillimanite etc., together with some measures taken on multi-grade formulation, homogenizing of the matrix of bricks and addition of some special additives. The results indicated that the bricks were with characteristics such as higher thermal shock resistance of 〉 30 cycles under quenching in water from 1000℃, and creep rate of 0. 2 under 1400℃ for 20 -50hrs with load of 0.2 MPa. Now a series of products of this kind have been developed and produced. The application of the products in Wuhan Iron and Steel Co. showed very prospective results. Now most of domestic large sized blast furnaces say ≥- 1000m^3, including those of Baoshan Iron and Steel Co. , have selected the series products made by Gongyi No. 5 Refractories Head Factory(GYWN) for their hot blast stoves. 展开更多

Andalusite with the different particle sizes were used in the experiment and the specimen with the best property was selected us the production standard. In addition, the industrial produced low-creep andalusite bricks were compared with other low-creep bricks. The results show that the developed low-creep andalusite bricks is an excellent material for hot blast stove. 展开更多

Periclase-spinel bricks were prepared using sintered magnesia,flotation magnesia,fused magnesium aluminate spinel and calcined Al_(2)O_(3)fines as the starting materials and calcium lignosulfonate as the binder,mixing,shaping and firing at 1650℃.Flotation magnesia particles were used to replace ordinary sintered magnesia particles and different amounts of calcined Al_(2)O_(3)fines were extra-added(0%,3%and 5%,by mass)to investigate their effects on the properties of periclase-spinel bricks.The results show that:the periclase-spinel bricks prepared with flotation magnesia particles have reduced apparent porosity and cold compressive strength,and enhanced bulk density,thermal shock resistance,hot strength and hot toughness.As the calcined Al_(2)O_(3)fines addition increases,the apparent porosity and the cold compressive strength decrease,and the bulk density,the thermal shock resistance,the hot strength and the hot toughness are improved. 展开更多

A one-step sintering process of bauxite raw material from direct mining was completed, and the kinetics of this process was analyzed thoroughly. The results show that the sintering kinetics of bauxite raw material exhibits the liquid-phase sintering behavior. A small portion of impurities existed in the raw material act as a liquid phase. After X-ray diffraction analyses, scanning electron microscopy observations, and kinetics calculations, sintering temperature and heating duration were determined as the two major factors contributing to the sintering process and densification of bauxite ore. An elevated heating temperature and longer duration favor the densification process. The major obstacle for the densification of bauxite material is attributed to the formation of the enclosed blowhole during liquid-phase sintering. 展开更多

The magnesia based curable specimens with different Si3N4 contents were casted using sintered magnesite (w(MgO)=95%) as starting material, SiO2 micro-powder as binder, 0.3%, 4% and 5% β-Si3N4 powder replacing the equal addition of magnesia powder respectively. The slag resistance test was carried out at 1550℃ for 3h using Baosteel tundish slag and static crucible method. The result indicates that: introducing Si3N4 could obviously improve the slag resistance of MgO based castable, which increased with increasing Si3N4. Dense SiO2 sintered layer formed on the surface of magnesia based castable because of the oxidation of Si3N4 addition, which can prevent the further slag penetration. In the deep inner of castable, the partial-pressure of oxygen was very low, so Si3N4 can exist stably. Meanwhile in reducing atmosphere, Si3N4 was hard to be sintered, which resulted in the loose interior structure of MgO based castable. 展开更多

To the Editor:Pemetrexed plus platinum(cisplatin or carboplatin)chemotherapy doublets are widely recommended as the standard first-line treatment for non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)with no identified genetic mutations.[1]However,their efficiency has been confirmed with a median survival of approximately 10.2 to 13.0 months and a 5-year survival rate of 13%to 15%.Initial chemotherapy with pemetrexed has been confirmed as an effective regimen for advanced lung adenocarcinoma without specific genetic biomarker predicting the benefit of pemetrexed efficacy.[2]Patients treated with pemetrexedbased regimens can also receive a single agent as maintenance treatment after the induction chemotherapy. 展开更多

A simple direct space-time meshless scheme,based on the radial or non-radial basis function,is proposed for the onedimensional Klein-Gordon equations.Since these equations are time-dependent,it is worthwhile to present two schemes for the basis functions from radial and non-radial aspects.The first scheme is fulfilled by considering time variable as normal space variable,to construct an"isotropic"space-time radial basis function.The other scheme considered a realistic relationship between space variable and time variable which is not radial.The timedependent variable is treated regularly during the whole solution process and the Klein-Gordon equations can be solved in a direct way.Numerical results show that the proposed meshless schemes are simple,accurate,stable,easy-to-program and efficient for the Klein-Gordon equations. 展开更多
