The future inundation by storm surge on coastal areas are currently ill-defined.With increasing global sealevel due to climate change,the coastal flooding by storm surge is more and more frequently,especially in coast...The future inundation by storm surge on coastal areas are currently ill-defined.With increasing global sealevel due to climate change,the coastal flooding by storm surge is more and more frequently,especially in coastal lowland with land subsidence.Therefore,the risk assessment of such inundation for these areas is of great significance for the sustainable socio-economic development.In this paper,the authors use Elevation-Area method and Regional Ocean Model System(ROMS)model to assess the risk of the inundation of Bohai Bay by storm surge.The simulation results of Elevation-Area method show that either a 50-year or 100-year storm surge can inundate coastal areas exceeding 8000 km^(2);the numerical simulation results based on hydrodynamics,considering ground friction and duration of the storm surge high water,show that a 50-year or 100-year storm surge can only inundate an area of over 2000 km^(2),which is far less than 8000 km^(2);while,when taking into account the land subsidence and sea level rise,the very inundation range will rapidly increase by 2050 and 2100.The storm surge will greatly impact the coastal area within about 10-30 km of the Bohai Bay,in where almost all major coastal projects are located.The prompt response to flood disaster due to storm surge is urgently needed,for which five suggestions have been proposed based on the geological background of Bohai Bay.This study may offer insight into the development of the response and adaptive plans for flooding disasters caused by storm surge.展开更多
The change processes and trends of shoreline and tidal flat forced by human activities are essential issues for the sustainability of coastal area,which is also of great significance for understanding coastal ecologic...The change processes and trends of shoreline and tidal flat forced by human activities are essential issues for the sustainability of coastal area,which is also of great significance for understanding coastal ecological environment changes and even global changes.Based on field measurements,combined with Linear Regression(LR)model and Inverse Distance Weighing(IDW)method,this paper presents detailed analysis on the change history and trend of the shoreline and tidal flat in Bohai Bay.The shoreline faces a high erosion chance under the action of natural factors,while the tidal flat faces a different erosion and deposition patterns in Bohai Bay due to the impact of human activities.The implication of change rule for ecological protection and recovery is also discussed.Measures should be taken to protect the coastal ecological environment.The models used in this paper show a high correlation coefficient between observed and modeling data,which means that this method can be used to predict the changing trend of shoreline and tidal flat.The research results of present study can provide scientific supports for future coastal protection and management.展开更多

The calculated results are in good agreement with the previous experimental and theoretical results. Empirical formulas for estimating the hardness and partial number of effective free electrons for each bond in multibond compounds with metallicity are presented. Based on the formulas, IrB2 has the largest hardness of 21.8 GPa, followed by OsB2 (21.0 GPa) and ReB2 (19.7 GPa), indicating that they are good candidates as hard materials.展开更多
Forest fragmentation is an integral part of global change.Understanding forest fragmentation patterns and dynamics are of great significance for maintaining ecosystem stability.There are great differences in the inter...Forest fragmentation is an integral part of global change.Understanding forest fragmentation patterns and dynamics are of great significance for maintaining ecosystem stability.There are great differences in the interference of natural and human factors on forests in different towns of mountainous cities,and the characteristics of forest fragmentation are also obviously different.Forest fragmentation has been broadly studied,yet,it remains poorly understood at the township-scale within mountainous cities.In this study,the spatial form of forest landscape and forest fragmentation modes of towns were examined in Qujing City,Yunnan Province,China for the years of 2006 and 2016,relying heavily on the morphological spatial pattern analysis(MSPA)and K-means clustering algorithm.Results in 2016 showed that the forest landscape morphology of Qujing could be divided into seven classes:core,perforation,islet,bridge,edge,branch and ring;with landscape areas of 41.94%,1.22%,7.04%,11.12%,23.26%,11.74%and 3.68%respectively.Compared with 2006,the changes of landscape area were 1.71%,0.02%,0.30%,1.65%,0.20%,0.19%and 0.05%respectively.The townships in Qujing varied significantly in their landscape fragmentation patterns,and these patterns were spatially dependent.Different forest landscape forms have positive spatial correlations and differences.The forest fragmentation modes of towns can be divided into four types:Low anthropogenic towns,high anthropogenic towns,complex terrain towns and gentle terrain towns.Different ways of human activities play a decisive role in forest landscape fragmentation.The expansion of construction land and agricultural land intensifies forest fragmentation;however,man-made orderly and planned ecological restoration will greatly improve the forest coverage and improve the spatial form of urban forest landscape.展开更多

The emission trading system is developing slowly in most of the participating provinces and cities. Prices tend to decline, while volumes trading slowly increase. The volatility is partially the result of regulation (the rights need to be renewed before a certain date) and partially due to government interventions in the market. Based on the assessment, recommendations are provided for China implementing a national carbon market, based on the experiences and lessons learnt from the seven local carbon emission trading schemes. Conditions for China to roll out the system and later improve the national emission trading scheme to replace the existing local emission trading schemes are formulated.展开更多
By means of the nuclear parton distributions determined without the fixed-target Drell-Yan experimental data and the analytic expression of quenching weight based on the BDMPS formalism,next-to-leading order analyses ...By means of the nuclear parton distributions determined without the fixed-target Drell-Yan experimental data and the analytic expression of quenching weight based on the BDMPS formalism,next-to-leading order analyses were performed on the Drell-Yan differential cross section ratios from the Fermilab E906 and E866 collaborations.It was found that the results calculated only with the nuclear effects of the parton distribution were not in agreement with the E866 and E906 experimental data.The incoming parton energy loss effect cannot be ignored in the nuclear Drell-Yan reactions.The predicted results indicate that,with the quark transport coefficient as a constant,the suppression due to the target nuclear geometry effect is approximately 16.85%for the quark transport coefficient.It was shown that we should consider the target nuclear geometry effect in studying the Drell-Yan reaction on nuclear targets.On the basis of the Bjorken variable and scale dependence of the quark transport coefficient,the atomic mass dependence was incorporated.The quark transport coefficient was determined as a function of the atomic mass,Bjorken variablex_(2),and scale Q^(2)by the global fit of the experimental data.The determined constant factor q_(0)of the quark transport coefficient is 0.062±0.006 GeV^(2)/fm.It was found that the atomic mass dependence has a significant impact on the constant factor q_(0)in the quark transport coefficient in cold nuclear matter.展开更多

文摘We propose a novel refractive index sensor based on Michelson interferometer by using double-core microfiber.Through the reflection of the end and taper of double-core fiber(DCF),the Michelson interference spectrum is formed.Owing to the structure characteristic of double-core microfiber,this interferometer can achieve the measurement of refractive index(RI)and temperature.The experimental results show that the refractive index sensitivity of the interferometer is 2377.80 nm/RIU at the diameter of the taper waist of 8.76μm.In the temperature ranges from 30°C to 60°C,the temperature sensitivity is 0.07048 nm/°C.This sensor has the advantage of high refractive index sensitivity.

文摘The performance of an optical time domain reflectometer(OTDR) is significantly improved using spread spectrum technology. The concept of spread spectrum OTDR(SSOTDR) is proposed, the theoretical basis and simulation results of the new method are given, and the problem of direct application of bipolar spread spectrum codes to OTDR and despreading in the optical domain are solved. The simulation results show the feasibility of the SSOTDR, which exhibits better dynamic range reported to date for a practical long-haul OTDR system without using conventional average technique.
