We examine the effects of the transverse ponderomotive force, specifically how the deviation angle and speed of electron motion are affected by the initial off-axis position of the electron and the peak amplitude of the laser pulse. When the laser pulse intensity is low, an increase in the electron's initial off-axis distance results in reduced spatial radiation power, improved collimation, super-continuum phenomena generation, red-shifting of the spectrum's harmonic peak, and significant symmetry in the radiation radial direction. However, in contradiction to conventional understandings, when the laser pulse intensity is relatively high, the properties of the relativistic nonlinear Thomson inverse scattering of the electron deviate from the central axis, changing direction in opposition to the aforementioned effects. After reaching a peak, these properties then shift again, aligning with the previous direction. The complex interplay of these effects suggests a greater nuance and intricacy in the relationship between laser pulse intensity, electron position, and scattering properties than previously thought.展开更多

In the framework of classical electrodynamics, it is deduced and found that the more severe the change in the electron transverse acceleration, the stronger the asymmetry of the radiation angle distribution, and the greater the transverse acceleration, the greater the radiation energy. Tightly focused, ultrashort, and high-intensity lasers lead to violent electron acceleration processes, resulting in a bifurcated radiation structure with asymmetry and higher energy. Additionally, a change in the initial phase of the laser brings about periodic change of the acceleration, which in turn makes the radiation change periodically with the initial phase. In other cases, the radiation is in a symmetrical double-peak structure. These phenomena will help us to modulate radiation with more energy collimation.展开更多

However, the nitrogen and phosphorus removal is sometimes unsatisfactory due to the low influent COD.Another problem with the activated sludge process is that large amount of waste activated sludge is produced, which needs further treatment. In this study, the waste activated sludge alkaline fermentation liquid was used as the main carbon source for phosphorus and nitrogen removal under anaerobic followed by alternating aerobic-anoxic conditions, and the results were compared with those using acetic acid as the carbon source. The use of alkaline fermentation liquid not only affected the transformations of phosphorus, nitrogen, intracellular polyhydroxyalkanoates and glycogen, but also led to higher removal efficiencies for phosphorus and nitrogen compared with acetic acid.It was observed that ammonium was completely removed with either alkaline fermentation liquid or acetic acid as the carbon source. However, the former resulted in higher removal efficiencies for phosphorus(95%)and nitrogen(82%),while the latter showed lower ones(87%and 74%,respectively).The presence of a large amount of propionic acid in the alkaline fermentation liquid was one possible reason for its higher phosphorus removal efficiency.Exogenous instead of endogenous denitrification was the main pathway for nitrogen removal with the alkaline fermentation liquid as the carbon source, which was responsible for its higher nitrogen removal efficiency. It seems that the alkaline fermentation liquid can replace acetic acid as the carbon source for phosphorus and nitrogen removal in anaerobic fol- lowed by alternating aerobic-anoxic sequencing batch reactor.展开更多

Top-down excavation of the Metro Line 10 in Shanghai was modeled with finite element analysis software ABAQUS and parameters of subsoil were obtained by inverse analysis. Based on the finite element model and parameters, changes in the following factors were made to find more effective methods to restrain differential uplift and settlement: length of diaphragm wall, thickness of jet-grouting reinforcement layer, ways of subsoil reinforcement, sequence of pit excavation, connection between slabs and diaphragm wall or column and width of pit. Several significant results are acquired. The longer the diaphragm wall is, the greater the differential uplift between column and diaphragm wall is. Rigidity of roof slab is in general not strong enough to keep diaphragm wall and column undergoing the same uplift during excavation; Uplift at head of column and differential uplift between column and diaphragm wall decrease when subsoil from-16.6 to-43 m in pit is reinforced through jet-grouting. But, as excavation proceeds to a lower level, benefit from soil reinforcement diminishes. During the process applying vertical load, the larger the depth of diaphragm wall is, the smaller the settlement is at head of column and diaphragm wall, and the greater the differential settlement is between column and diaphragm wall. When friction connection is implemented between column, diaphragm wall and floor slabs, uplifts at head of column and diaphragm wall are larger than those of the case when tie connection is implemented, and so does differential uplift between column and diaphragm wall. The maximum deflection of diaphragm wall decreases by 58% on account of soil reinforcement in pit. The maximum deflection of diaphragm wall decreases by 61.2% when friction connection is implemented instead of tie connection.展开更多

It was experimentally shown that the concentration of p53 can show oscillations with short or long periods upon DNA damage. The underlying mechanism for this phenomenon is still not fully understood. Here, we construct a network model comprising the ATM-p53-Wip1 and p53-Mdm2 negative feedback loops and ATM autoactivation. We recapitulate the typical features of p53 oscillations including p53 birhythmicity. We show the dependence of p53 birhythmicity on various factors such as the phosphorylation status of ATM. We also perform stochastic simulation and find the noise-induced transitions between two modes of p53 oscillation, which increases the p53 variability in both the amplitude and period. These results suggest that p53 birhythmicity enhances the responsiveness of p53 network, which may facilitate its tumor suppressive function.展开更多

Computational prediction approaches can help to understand RNA structures and their stabilizing factors, thus providing information on their functions, and facilitating the design of new RNAs. Machine learning (ML) techniques have made tremendous progress in many fields in the past few years. Although their usage in protein-related fields has a long history, the use of ML methods in predicting RNA tertiary structures is new and rare. Here, we review the recent advances of using ML methods on RNA structure predictions and discuss the advantages and limitation, the difficulties and potentials of these approaches when applied in the field.展开更多

So LSB areas not only make ETGs’Sérsic profiles deviate from de Vaucouleur ones and shift to the disk end,but also reveal that quite a number of ETGs have opposite color gradients in inner and outer areas. These outcomes remind us of the necessity of double-Sérsic fitting. These LSB phenomena may be interpreted by mergers and thus have different metallicity in the outer areas.Isophotal parameters are also discussed briefly in this paper with the following conclusion:there are more disky nearby ETGs that are identified than boxy ones.展开更多

Parametric analyses including the degree of inclination and the distance between soil and pile are carried out herein. When the displacement of soil on the left side and right side of a pile is identical, deformation of a vertical pile and an inclined pile is highly close in both cases of surcharge load and uniform soil movement. When the couple effect of soil displacement and axial load occurs, settlement of an inclined pile is greater than that of a vertical pile under the same axial load, and bearing capacity of an inclined pile is smaller than that of a vertical pile. This is quite different from the case when the inclined pile is not affected by soil displacement. For inclined piles, P-Δ effect of axial load would lead to a large increase in bending moment, however, for the vertical pile, P-Δ effect of axial load can be neglected. Although the direction of inclination of piles is reverse, deformation of piles caused by uniform soil movement is totally the same. For the inclined piles discussed herein, bending moment(-8 m to-17 m under the ground) relies heavily on uniform soil movement and does not change during the process of applying axial load. When the thickness of soil is less than the pile length, the greater the thickness of soil, the larger the bending moment at lower part of the inclined pile. When the thickness of soil is larger than the pile length, bending moment at lower part of the inclined pile is zero.展开更多

文摘Video-based action recognition is becoming a vital tool in clinical research and neuroscientific study for disorder detection and prediction. However, action recognition currently used in non-human primate(NHP)research relies heavily on intense manual labor and lacks standardized assessment. In this work,we established two standard benchmark datasets of NHPs in the laboratory:Monkeyin Lab(Mi L),which includes 13 categories of actions and postures, and MiL2D,which includes sequences of two-dimensional(2D)skeleton features.Furthermore, based on recent methodological advances in deep learning and skeleton visualization,we introduced the Monkey Monitor Kit(Mon Kit)toolbox for automatic action recognition, posture estimation, and identification of fine motor activity in monkeys.Using the datasets and Mon Kit,we evaluated the daily behaviors of wild-type cynomolgus monkeys within their home cages and experimental environments and compared these observations with the behaviors exhibited by cynomolgus monkeys possessing mutations in the MECP2 gene as a disease model of Rett syndrome(RTT).Mon Kit was used to assess motor function, stereotyped behaviors, and depressive phenotypes, with the outcomes compared with human manual detection.Mon Kit established consistent criteria for identifying behavior in NHPs with high accuracy and efficiency, thus providing a novel and comprehensive tool for assessing phenotypic behavior in monkeys.

文摘The influence of acceleration of electrons on relativistic nonlinear Thomson scattering in tightly focused linearly polarized laser pulses is investigated for the first time. These phenomena will help us to modulate radiation with more energy collimation.
文摘Using an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm(IPSO)to drive a transfer matrix method,a nonreciprocal absorber with an ultrawide absorption bandwidth and angular insensitivity is realized in plasma-embedded photonic crystals arranged in a structure composed of periodic and quasi-periodic sequences on a normalized scale. The effective dielectric function, which determines the absorption of the plasma,is subject to the basic parameters of the plasma, causing the absorption of the proposed absorber to be easily modulated by these parameters.Compared with other quasi-periodic sequences, the Octonacci sequence is superior both in relative bandwidth and absolute bandwidth.Under further optimization using IPSO with 14 parameters set to be optimized, the absorption characteristics of the proposed structure with different numbers of layers of the smallest structure unit N are shown and discussed.IPSO is also used to address angular insensitive nonreciprocal ultrawide bandwidth absorption, and the optimized result shows excellent unidirectional absorbability and angular insensitivity of the proposed structure. The impacts of the sequence number of quasi-periodic sequence M and collision frequency of plasma1ν1 to absorption in the angle domain and frequency domain are investigated.Additionally, the impedance match theory and the interference field theory are introduced to express the findings of the algorithm.

文摘The nonlinear radiation of the electron is a distinctive feature of the action of tightly focused linearly polarized lasers. In this paper, from the perspective of radiation symmetry, the effect of laser parameters on the electron radiation power in the time domain is studied systematically. An asymmetric bimodal structure is found in the time domain in the direction of the maximum radiation. For this special structure,an explanation is given based on the electron dynamics perspective. The structure is compared with the symmetric bimodal structure in the classical theory. The increase in laser intensity, while significantly increasing the radiated power of the electron, exacerbates the asymmetry of the electron radiation. The variation in the initial phase of the laser leads to a periodic variation in the electron motion, which results in a periodic extension of the electron spatial radiation with a period ofπ.Moreover, the existence of jump points with a phase difference ofπin the range of 0-2πis found. The increase in pulse width reduces the radiated power, extends the radiation range, and alleviates the radiation asymmetry. The results in this paper contribute to the study of electron radiation characteristics in intense laser fields.

文摘Activated sludge process has been widely used to remove phosphorus and nitrogen from wastewater. It seems that the alkaline fermentation liquid can replace acetic acid as the carbon source for phosphorus and nitrogen removal in anaerobic fol- lowed by alternating aerobic-anoxic sequencing batch reactor.

文摘Top structure and basement will confront the risk of being damaged on account of large stress and strain fields incurred by differential uplift and settlement between inner column and diaphragm wall in top-down method. The maximum deflection of diaphragm wall decreases by 61.2% when friction connection is implemented instead of tie connection.

文摘Effect of soil displacement on friction single pile in the cases of tunneling, surcharge load and uniform soil movement was discussed in details with finite element method.Lateral displacement of the pile caused by soil displacement reached about 90% of the total displacement, which means that P-Δ effect of axial load can be neglected. The maximum moment of pile decreased from 159 kN·m to 133 kN·m in the case of surcharge load when the axial load increased from 0 to the ultimate load. When deformation of pile caused by soil displacement is large, axial load applied on pile-head plays the role of reducing the maximum bending moment in concrete pile to some extent. When pile is on one side of the tunnel, soil displacements around the pile are all alike, which means that the soil pressures around the pile do not decrease during tunneling.Therefore,Q-s curve of the pile affected by tunneling is very close to that of pile in static loading test.Bearing capacities of piles influenced by surcharge load and uniform soil movement are 2480 kN and 2630 kN,respectively, which are a little greater than that of the pile in static loading test(2400 kN).Soil pressures along pile increase due to surcharge load and uniform soil movement, and so do the shaft resistances along pile,as a result, when rebars in concrete piles are enough, bearing capacity of pile affected by soil displacement increases compared with that of pile in static loading test.

文摘The tumor suppressor p53 mediates the cellular response to various stresses. These results suggest that p53 birhythmicity enhances the responsiveness of p53 network, which may facilitate its tumor suppressive function.

文摘RNAs play crucial and versatile roles in biological processes. Here, we review the recent advances of using ML methods on RNA structure predictions and discuss the advantages and limitation, the difficulties and potentials of these approaches when applied in the field.

文摘Full-dimensional adiabatic potential energy surfaces of the electronic ground state X and nine excited states A,I,B,C,D,D',D'',E' and F of H_(2)O molecule are developed at the level of internally contracted multireference configuration interaction with the Davidson correction. The potential energy surfaces are fitted by using Gaussian process regression combining permutation invariant polynomials. With a large selected active space and extra diffuse basis set to describe these Rydberg states, the calculated vertical excited energies and equilibrium geometries are in good agreement with the previous theoretical and experimental values.Compared with the well-investigated photodissociation of the first three low-lying states, both theoretical and experimental studies on higher states are still limited. In this work,we focus on all the three channels of the highly excited state, which are directly involved in the vacuum ultraviolet photodissociation of water. In particular, some conical intersections of D-E',E'-F,A-I and I-C states are clearly illustrated for the first time based on the newly developed potential energy surfaces(PESs).The nonadiabatic dissociation pathways for these excited states are discussed in detail, which may shed light on the photodissociation mechanisms for these highly excited states.

文摘Calcium-release-activated calcium(CARC)channels are one of the major pathways of calcium entry in non-excitable cells.Despite a decade or two of research, its regulatory mechanism is not yet thoroughly understood. The slow progress is due to the complexity of its pores(i.e.,Orai)on one hand and the difficulty in capturing its regulatory complex on the other hand.As a result, possible gating mechanisms have often been speculated by exploring the structure and properties of constitutive open mutants. However, there is much debate about how they can truly reflect the gating of CRAC channels under physiological conditions. In the present study,we combined molecular dynamics simulations with free energy calculations to study three dOrai mutants(G170P,H206A,and P288A),and further calculated their current-voltage curves. Results show that these constructs adopt different approaches to maintain their conductive state.Meanwhile they have unique pore structures and distinctive rectification properties and ion selectivity for cations compared to wild-type pores. We conclude that although the mutants may partially capture the gating motion characteristics of wild-type pores, the information obtained from these mutants is likely not a true reflection of CRAC channel gating under physiological conditions.

文摘We make use of the images from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Stripe 82(Stripe 82) to present an analysis of r band surface brightness profiles and radial color gradients(g-r,u-r) in our sample of 111 nearby early-type galaxies(ETGs) .Thanks to the Stripe 82 images, each of which is co-added from about 50 single frames,we are able to pay special attention to the low-surface-brightness areas(LSB areas) of the galaxies. The LSB areas affect the Sérsic fittings and concentration indices by making both of the indices less than the typical values for ETGs.In the Sérsic fits to all the surface brightness profiles,we found some Sérsic indices that range from 1.5 to 2.5,much smaller than those of typical de Vaucouleur profiles and relatively close to those of exponential disks, and some others much larger than four but still with accurate fitting. Two galaxies cannot be fitted with a single Sérsic profile, but once we try double Sérsic profiles, the fittings are improved:one with a profile relatively close to the de Vaucouleur law in the inner area and a profile relatively close to an exponential law in the LSB area, the other with a nice fitting in the inner area but still having a failed fitting in the outer area.About 60%of the sample has negative color gradients(red-core) within 1.5Re,much more than the approximately 10%positive ones(blue-core) within the same radius. However, taking into account the LSB areas,we find that the color gradients are not necessarily monotonic:about one third of the red-core(or blue-core) galaxies have positive(or negative) color gradients in the outer areas. These LSB phenomena may be interpreted by mergers and thus have different metallicity in the outer areas.Isophotal parameters are also discussed briefly in this paper with the following conclusion:there are more disky nearby ETGs that are identified than boxy ones.

文摘The couple effect of soil displacement and axial load on the single inclined pile in cases of surcharge load and uniform soil movement is discussed in detail with the methods of full-scale field tests and finite element method. When the thickness of soil is larger than the pile length, bending moment at lower part of the inclined pile is zero.
