With addition of Ti into M2 steel, large quantities of dispersed TiC particles formed in the steel melt at higher temperature than that of the formation of MC carbide. Effect of Si, Al and Bi on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-welded and austempered ductile iron weld metals has been studied with SEM, TEM, X-ray diffraction, image analysing system, tension and other test methods. Results show that increasing weld Si, Al and Bi content favours improving the chilling tendency of as-welded ductile iron weld and mechanical properties of austempered ductile iron weld and the mechanism is also discussed. On this basis the optimum chemical composition of weld is determined. The mechanical properties of weld and welded joint after austempering can match those of austempered ductile iron. 展开更多

And then, the tensile deformation localization development of the amorphous glassy circular polymeric bars (such as polycarbonates) is numerically simulated. The simulated results are compared with experimental ones, and very good consistence between numerical simulation and experiment is obtained, which shows the efficiency of the finite element analysis. Finally, the influences of the microstructure parameter S-ss on tensile neck-propagation and triaxial stress effect are studied. 展开更多

The addition of 0.02 similar to 0.05 wt pet B changed carbide morphology in solidification structure from strip eutectic and rosette eutectic into divorced eutectic. B accelerated carbide granulation through increasing unstability and lattice distortion of carbide and element diffusion, Granular carbide could be achieved when heated at 1150 degrees C for 1.5 h. 展开更多

By using the nickel welding wire, the effect of alloying elements on the chilling tendency of partial fusions zone (PFZ) of arc-welded ferritic ductile iron and the mechanical properties of weld metal have been systematically studied. On this basis, a new nickel electrode for arc welding of ferritic ductile iron (QT400-17) was developed for the first time. The mechanical properties of its weld metal can match those of ferritic ductile iron. The width of carbide layer (WCL) in PFZ is significantly decreased, the welded joint has excellent machinability and the weld metal has high hot cracking resistance.
