Effects of Perceived Teacher Support on Student Behavioral Engagement in the Blended Learning Environment:Learning Experience as a Mediator

Blended learning(BL)has been widely adopted to improve students’academic achievements in higher education.However,its success relies mainly on student engagement,which plays an essential role in active learning and provides a rich understanding of students’experiences.The study utilized three self-designed scales-the Teacher Support Scale,Student Engagement Scale,and Student Learning Experience Scale-to gauge and examine the impact and relationship between perceived teacher support,student behavioral engagement,and the intermediary role of learning experiences.A cohort of 899 college students undertaking the obligatory College English course through BL modes across five Chinese universities actively participated by completing a comprehensive questionnaire.The results showed significant correlations between perceived teacher support,learning experience,and behavioral engagement.Perceived teacher support significantly predicted students’behavioral engagement,with socio-affective support exerting the most substantial predictive effects.All predictive effects were partially mediated by learning experience(learning mode,online resources,overall LMS-based learning,interaction with their instructor and peers,and learning outcome).The influence of perceived teacher support on behavioral engagement differed between students who reported the most positive(vs.negative)learning experiences.Suggestions for further research are offered for consideration.

The peculiarities of the newly compiled textbooks for English classrooms in China

Flexible and original thinking is the key to outstanding textbooks design. In order to teach English effectively, this paper discusses the changes, features and the effect of the function of new English textbooks and the strategies of addressing the problems arising between foreign and native English textbooks, and offers a framework for students that is not restrictive but allows them to develop their own individual learning process without the restrictions that teachers encounter so often in prescriptive teaching.

The study of English perfective aspect

Through this research, on the basis of English-Chinese and Chinese-English parallel corpora, the following conclusion tries to be drawn： In English, the perfect may not be used together with the specific time of the past situation. In contrast to English, Chinese does not have perfect constructions. English perfective aspect is an actual aspect indication： duration and completion of an action or situation. According to different reference time, the actual aspect can be divided into past actuality, present actuality and future actuality. This paper will undoubtedly contribute to the study of tense-aspect in Chinese. The study of English perfective aspect is conducive to the comparative study and translation of aspect in English and Chinese.

Training theory and practice of crossing cultural awareness in college English teaching

English is the current most widely used international language of communication, with the improvement of China＇ s comprehensive national strength, participation in the exchange, cooperation and increase trade opportunities for the international community, particularly the WTO, Beijing ＇s successful Olympic bid, the Shanghai World Expo, several major events more and more people are realizing the importance of English practical applications. Now students acquire decent rules of successful communication in English, and this should be the starting point and final destination of English teaching. Therefore, in the process of teaching English, the penetration of the language and cultural knowledge, cross-cultural communication awareness training must cause concern and attention of English teachers to improve students ＇ intercultural communication content acumen, thus to improve students＇ English communication in practice capacity.

Development and Innovation of College English Curriculum Evaluation Models

Teaching evaluation is an important and essential part of teaching, is an important means of detecting teaching effect. The traditional way of teaching evaluation only concerned with results of student learning, which is not conducive to reforms of English teaching methods and content. Our school s implemented English curriculum evaluation method combining formative assessment and summative assessment, which reflects the times, openness and flexibility of English teaching, but help to improve the overall quality of students, greatly promoting the reform of English teaching and development.
