In the present study,we investigate several textile coating pastes used in the market based on their radiation protection capability for gamma rays.The gamma ray mass absorption coefficients of some coating pastes doped with antimony,boron and silver elements have been investigated.It has been determined that the gamma ray mass attenuation coefficient decreases rapidly as the energy of the gamma rays increases.It was determined that the doping of the main printing paste with silver and antimony considerably increased the gamma ray absorption capability of main paste.However,the doping of the paste with boron reduces the mass absorption of gamma rays.In particular,the gamma ray mass absorption power of the main paste doped with silver and antimony was determined to be useful in the gamma energy range from 80 to 140keV.This indicates that the newly doped textile material may be considered for radiation protection in the case of low-energy gamma rays. 展开更多

We quantified the diversity of vascular plant species and described soil properties and topographical and climatic conditions of the Citdere and Kavakli Nature Reserves in the Yenice Forest of Turkey. We used the Shannon-Weiner and Simpson's indices of diversity,Margalef's index of species richness and Pielou's evenness index to quantify the structure of vascular plant assemblages. We measured soil parameters(NO_3^-, NH_4^+,available P, Mg^(++), K^+, Na^+, Ca^(++), organic matter, pH,soil moisture), elevation, slope gradient and aspect and their correlations with plant community parameters. In total, we recorded and identified 207 species and subspecies in the study area. Species cover, richness and diversity indices varied significantly by vegetation type(P < 0.01). Available NO_3^- and Ca++ in the soil were important factors for the area and species representation in the species-environment correlations estimated for the Kavakli area. Available NO_3^-,pH, organic matter, Ca^(++) and K^+ in the soil were important factors for the area and species representation in the species-environment correlations analysed for the Citdere area. 展开更多

The radiation shielding efficiency of material depends upon photon attenuation, exposure buildup factors and neutron removal capacity. A newly developed Pb-free gadolinium-based glasses in compositions(80-x) B_2O_3-10 Si O_2-10 Ca O-x Gd_2O_3(where x = 15, 20, 25, 30 and35 mol%) had completely been investigated for their shielding efficiency with Geant4 simulation for mass attenuation coefficients and neutron total macroscopic cross section and by calculating exposure buildup factors.The exposure buildup factors for photon energy from 0.015 to 15 Me V had been calculated up to 40 mean free paths using five factors geometric progression method. The mass attenuation coefficients of the Pb-free glasses were simulated for energies from 223 to 2614 ke V and compared with the possible available experimental results. The neutron shielding efficiency of these glasses was discussed by calculating neutron total macroscopic cross section for energies from 1 e V to 14.1 Me V. Present investigations are found to be very useful for applications in nuclear engineering. 展开更多

A management plan is required to minimize the environmental destruction resulting from the complexity of the property in coastal areas, of human activities and of natural systems and to utilize the coastal resources effectively. The utilization of coasts, besides becoming very important particularly in views of tourism, has faced pressures caused by huge. These areas are mostly self-contradictory demands for the environmental protection. The project is an EU Life Long Learning Programme Project and the project duration is 24 months. The aim of the CoastLearn in Black Sea (CLBS) is to mobilize the human resources in the tourism and coastal management sector in Black Sea in general and notably Sinop, Varna and Constanta by raising awareness among the local decision making mechanisms of the integrated coastal zone management in order to encourage people to utilize the coastal resources in a coherent and balanced way. 展开更多

The isomeric structures of(E)-1-[4-(2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzylideneamino)-phenyl] ethanone(I) and(E)-1-[4-(2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzylideneamino) phenyl]ethanone(Ⅱ) ,both C16H15NO3,have been determined using X-ray diffraction techniques and characterized by IR,and their molecular structures have also been optimized at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level using density functional theory(DFT) . The energetic behaviors of the title compounds in solvent media have been examined using B3LYP method with the 6-31G(d,p) basis set by applying the polarizable continuum model(PCM) . The total energies of the title compounds decrease with the increasing polarity of the solvent. In addition,DFT calculations of the title compounds' molecular electrostatic potentials(MEP) were performed at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level of theory. X-ray study shows that the title compounds both have strong intramolecular O-H…N hydrogen bonds. The molecules of Ⅰ are linked into a one-dimensional framework structure by C-H…π interactions,while in Ⅱ,intermolecular π···π interactions result in the formation of infinite chains running along the [010]. 展开更多

In this study fabric stiffness/softness is examined which is an important element of applications on finishing processes of fabric.It is also studied the prediction of the fabric stiffness/softness with help of different parameters.Specific to this aim three different weft densitoes(30 tel/cm),3 different yarn numbers(20/1,24/1,30/1 Nm)and 3 different weaving patterns were used and 27 different fabrics were weaved.During the weaving process warp yarn is 100%polyester and weft yarn is 67-33%cotton/polyester.Three different finishing processes are applied to the 27 different fabrics(softness finishing treatment,crosslinking finishing and antipilling finishing)in 3 different concentrations and at the end there are 243 sample fabrics gathered.Stiffness test was applied to the samples according to the ASTM(American Society for Testing and Materials)D 4032-94 the Circular Bending Method.Test results were evaluated statistically.It was seen that the established model was related with p<0.0001 also,Artificial Neural Network(ANN)model was formed in order to predict the fabric softness using the test results.MATLAB packet model was used in forming the model.ANN was formed with 5 inputs(fabric plait,weft yarn no,weft density,weft type,finishing concentration)and 1 output(stiffness).ANN model was established using feed forward-back propagation network.There were many trials in forming the ANN and the best results were gathered at the values established with 0.97317 regression value,2 hidden layers and 10 neurons. 展开更多

Later we give some characterization of Wiener amalgam space W (L^p(x), Lm^q).In Section 3 we define the Wiener amalgam space W (FL^p(x), Lm^q) and investigate some properties of this space, where FL^p(x) is the image of L^p(x) under the Fourier transform. Heavy metal concentrations in macroalgae species from Sinop coasts of the Southern Black Sea

Objective:To determine the concentrations of Fe,Zn,Ni,Cu,Mn,Pb,Cd and Co in macroalgae from Sinop coasts of the Sounthern Black Sea.Methods:Chlorophyta-green algae(Chaetomorpha spp.,Cladophora spp.,Ulva linza,Ulva intestinalis,Ulva lactuca,Ulva rigida);Ochrophyta-brown alga[Cystoseira barbata(C.barbata)]and Rhodophyta-red algae(Ceramium spp.,Corallina panizzoi)were collected seasonally in the year 2010 from the upper infralittoral zone of inner harbour,outer harbour,Gerze and Ayancık of Sinop coasts of the Black Sea.The samples were analysed by atomic absorption spectrophotometer in order to determine heavy metal levels in different algal division species along Sinop coasts and to provide information of marine environment quality as marine strategy framework directive is aimed to ensure good environmental status of the seas by 2020 in the European Union.Results:The results showed that metal concentrations in all studied green algae,brown alga and red algae increase in the order:Cd<Co<Ni<Pb<Cu<Zn<Mn<Fe,Cd<Co<Cu<Ni<Pb<Mn<Zn<Fe and Co<Cd<Ni<Cu<Pb<Mn<Zn<Fe,respectively.In all divisions,among the essential elements the highest concentrations exhibited by Fe,in Gerze station-(2328±89)μg/g dry weight in Chaetomorpha spp.;(2143±78)μg/g dry weight in C.barbata and(968±20)μg/g dry weight in Ceramium spp.Conclusions:The highest accumulation of different metals in the analysed algae species were:Fe and Co in Chaetomorpha spp.,Zn in C.barbata,Ni and Cu in Ulva linza,Mn in Ulva intestinalis,Pb and Cd in Corallina panizzoi. 展开更多

Objective:To evaluate in vitro antimicrobial,antioxidant activities and total phenol contents of Cystoseira crinita and Ulva intestinalis species collected from the coastal region of Sinop.Methods:The antimicrobial activity of each methanolic algae sample was screened by using disc diffusion method against to 15 bacteria and 3 yeasts.The antioxidant potential of the extracts on the stable radical 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl was determined.The total phenolic content of the 3 methanolic extracts of the seaweed samples were determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu method.Results:The results of antimicrobial assay showed that extracts were more effective against Gram-positive bacteria rather than Gram-negative.In addition,while the algal extracts had antifungal efficacy against Candida krusei,the other yeast strains were not affected at all.According to the findings of antioxidant activity,all methanolic extracts displayed good free radical scavenging activity ranging from IC_(50)=(32.19±0.08)mg/mL to the IC_(50)=(37.57±0.11)mg/mL.The total phenols content of the macroalgal extracts were found as between(5.10±0.16)mg gallic acid equivalent/g and(87.70±1.03)mg gallic acid equivalent/g.In this sense,our findings confirmed that there was a positive linear correlations(r=0.86)between total phenol contents and the IC_(50) values.Conclusions:The data gathered from this study suggested that the seaweeds can be used as a potential natural seafood sources owing to the antimicrobial efficiency and good antioxidant activity. 展开更多

Bending process is one of the most significant fields of application of sheet metal die. Sheet metals are ex posed to some spring back or spring-forward depending on elastic deformation following bending process. S235JR (1. 003 8) materials having a thickness of 4 mm were bent with 90° punches having 5 different tip radiuses. The ben- ding process was carried out by making the punch waited on the material for 30 s (30 s wait bending) and by remo ving the punch without waiting (direct bending). Specimens were prepared in three forms as non-heat-treated, nor- malized and tempered. At the same time, all experiments were performed at a deformation speed of 25 mm/min. As a result, it was determined that as punch tip radius increased, the amount of spring-forward decreased. Although normalizing process applied to specimens increased the amount of spring-forward, tempering process decreased it. The amount of spring-forward was decreased in 30 s wait bending process. 展开更多

Objective: To determine heavy metal concentrations in holothurians (Holothuria arenicola, Holothuria pardalis, Holothuria verrucosa, Holothuria atra, Ohshimella ehrenbergii, Holothuria cinerascens, Stolus buccalis and Holothuria leucospilota), sediments and sea water samples from both Buleji and Sunehri coasts bordering Northern Arabian Sea during January to December 2014 and to assess the level of bioaccumulation using bioaccumulation factors. Methods: Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Cd and Pb levels were determined by Perkin Elmer AAnalyst 700 Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. Biota concentration factor (BCF) and biota sediment accumulation factor (BSAF) were also calculated. Results: The mean concentrations of heavy metals in body wall of sea cucumber ranged from 0.11 to 2.67, 0.43 to 8.93, 14 to 73, 0.76 to 7.12, 0.52 to 3.02 and 11 to 46 μg/g dry wright for Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb and Zn, respectively. The greatest biota-sediment bioaccumulation factor (BSAF) value for Zn (3.29) was observed in H. leucospilota at Buleji during pre-monsoon, indicating the species as microconcentrator. The BSAF values for Cd in sea cucumber ranged from 0.042 to 1.492. Conclusions: The results suggested that the studied sea cucumber species ranged from being microconcentrators to deconcentrators. The BSAF values of Cu, Fe, Mn and Pb were low, indicating the species as deconcentrators. Zn in all species from Sunehri coast is 'very bioaccumulative' (BCF > 5000) during all sampling periods. Cu, Fe, Mn and Pb can be considered 'bioaccumulative' (BCF < 5000). 展开更多
